Abstract

The Qur'an is a holy book that was revealed with a very distinctive structure, not only in terms of language, but also in the arrangement of its verses and chapters. One important approach in understanding this structure is the science of munāsabah, which is the science that studies the relationship and interconnectedness between verses or chapters in the Qur'an. This article aims to examine the urgency of munāsabah in revealing the wisdom behind the arrangement of the verses of the Qur'an and its contribution to enriching the understanding of interpretation. The results of the study show that munāsabah not only plays a role in beautifying the narrative of the Qur'an, but also uncovers deeper meanings, including moral, legal, and spiritual messages hidden in the sequence of revelation. Awareness of the importance of munāsabah can encourage a more contextual and integrative approach to interpretation in contemporary Qur'anic studies.

Abstract

Tarjamah, tafsir, dan ta'wil merupakan tiga aspek fundamental dalam memahami teks-teks suci, khususnya Al-Qur'an. Tarjamah berfungsi sebagai jembatan komunikasi antara bahasa Arab dan bahasa lain, memungkinkan aksesibilitas bagi pembaca yang tidak menguasai bahasa asli. Tafsir, di sisi lain, adalah ilmu yang mendalami makna ayat-ayat AlQur'an dengan mempertimbangkan konteks, sejarah, serta kaidah bahasa, sehingga memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam mengenai ajaran dan hukum yang terkandung dalam Al-Qur’an. Sementara itu, ta'wil menawarkan interpretasi yang lebih luas dan sering kali bersifat subjektif, terutama pada ayat-ayat yang memiliki makna simbolis atau metaforis. Proses ini tidak lepas dari tantangan, seperti perbedaan bahasa dan budaya yang dapat mempengaruhi pemahaman, serta variasi pendekatan dan metodologi yang digunakan oleh para mufassir dan penerjemah. Dengan perkembangan zaman dan kemajuan teknologi informasi, akses terhadap sumber-sumber tafsir dan tarjamah semakin mudah, mendorong umat Islam untuk terus belajar dan mendalami ilmu ini. Pemahaman yang komprehensif mengenai tarjamah, tafsir, dan ta'wil sangat penting untuk mengamalkan ajaran agama secara tepat dan relevan dengan konteks kehidupan sehari-hari. Kata Kunci: Tarjamah, Tafsir, Ta’wil Tarjamah, tafsir, and ta'wil are three fundamental aspects in understanding sacred texts, especially the Koran. Tarjamah functions as a communication bridge between Arabic and other languages, allowing accessibility for readers who do not master the native language. Tafsir, on the other hand, is a science that explores the meaning of the verses of the Qur'an by considering context, history and language rules, thereby providing a deeper understanding of the teachings and laws contained therein. Meanwhile, ta'wil offers a broader and often subjective interpretation, especially in verses that have symbolic or metaphorical meaning. This process is not free from challenges, such as language and cultural differences that can affect understanding, as well as variations in approaches and methodologies used by interpreters and translators. With the times and advances in information technology, access to sources of interpretation and tarjamah has become easier, encouraging Muslims to continue learning and deepening this knowledge. A comprehensive understanding of tarjamah, tafsir, and ta'wil is very important to practice religious teachings appropriately and relevantly in the context of everyday life. Abstract

Ulumul Qur'an is a branch of science in Islam that specifically studies various aspects related to the Qur'an. Areas of focus in this study include the history of the revelation of the Qur'an, its recitation techniques (qira'at), how to interpret it, as well as the social and historical background in the decline of various verses. The purpose of this article is to provide a complete explanation of the definition, scope, purpose, and journey of the development of this science from the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW to the time of the companions and tabi'in. With an understanding of these elements, it is hoped that Muslims can explore the meaning of the Qur'an more deeply and contextually, so that they can apply its teachings in their daily lives. This research confirms that Ulumul Qur'an plays a very significant role, not only in an academic context, but also in answering religious and social challenges in modern times.

Abstract

Asbab an-Nuzull is a science that discusses the reasons for the revelation of the verses of the Quran, which certainly plays an important role in understanding the historical context and the laws contained therein. This study aims to explain the concept of Asbab an-Nuzull, the division of its types, as well as its urgency and benefits in the science of tafsir. Through literature review from various scholars, it is found that Asbab an-Nuzul is divided into two main forms, namely event-based and question-based. In addition, an understanding of Asbab an-Nuzul can help avoid errors in the interpretation of verses and provide a deeper insight into the background of the revelation of Quranic verses. Therefore, knowledge of Asbab an-Nuzul is essential for mufassirs when interpreting the Quran more accurately and contextually.

Abstract

The Qur'an is a revelation from Allah SWT that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW gradually over a period of 23 years. The collection and codification of the Qur'an has a very important role in maintaining its authenticity so that it remains protected from change. The process of collecting the Qur'an began during the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW with memorization by his companions and recording on various media such as date palm stems, animal skins, and camel bones. After the Prophet's death, during the time of Caliph Abu Bakr Ash-Shiddiq, the Qur'an was collected into one mushaf to avoid losing the revelation due to the death of the memorizers in the Riddah War. Furthermore, during the time of Caliph Uthman bin Affan, differences in reading among Muslims caused by differences in dialect were finally standardized by making several copies of the official mushaf and burning other mushafs with different readings. This process continues with developments in writing, adding punctuation, and systematics that make it easier to read the Qur'an. The study of Jum‘ul Qur'an is very important in understanding how these efforts have maintained the authenticity and purity of the Qur'an until today.

Abstract

Al-Munasabah is the relationship between verses and surahs in the Qur'an, which has an important role in understanding and interpreting the Qur'an. The arrangement of surahs in the Qur'an is not random but structured. This study aims to improve one's understanding of the Qur'an by knowing the definitions, types, and benefits of studying al-Munasabah. The qualitative research method used in this study involves a literature review of several scientific works and books that discuss coherence between verses and surahs. Munasabah can help in interpreting Qur'anic verses as well as the relationship between one verse and another.

Abstract

The classification of Qur’anic verses into Makkiyah and Madaniyah is a fundamental aspect of the study of Ulumul Qur’an. This knowledge assists in understanding the historical, social, and spiritual contexts of each verse, as well as serves as a foundation for interpretation, Islamic jurisprudence, and the history of legislation. This article explores the definitions, methods of classification, characteristics, and the urgency of studying Makkiyah and Madaniyah. Using simā’i naqlī (transmitted reports) and qiyās ijtihādī (analytical reasoning), scholars identify verses based on time, place, audience, and linguistic style. Makkiyah generally emphasizes monotheism, faith, and perseverance, whereas Madaniyah provides legal, social, and communal guidance. Understanding this classification is essential for grasping the dynamics of the Prophet Muhammad’s mission and the evolution of Islamic law.

Abstract

Ulumul Qur’an adalah disiplin ilmu yang membahas berbagai aspek yang berkaitan dengan Al-Qur’an, termasuk sejarah, metodologi, dan prinsip-prinsip penafsirannya. Ilmu ini mencakup kajian mengenai wahyu, asbabun nuzul (sebab-sebab turunnya ayat), nasikh dan mansukh (ayat yang menghapus dan yang dihapus), qira’at (variasi bacaan), i’jaz Al-Qur’an (kemukjizatan), serta tafsir dan ta’wil. Dengan memahami Ulumul Qur’an, umat Islam dapat lebih mendalami makna ayat-ayat suci, memahami konteks sejarah turunnya wahyu, serta menerapkan ajaran Al-Qur’an dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Kajian ini sangat penting dalam menjaga otentisitas dan relevansi Al-Qur’an di berbagai zaman serta menjadi pedoman dalam memahami hukum dan nilai-nilai Islam secara komprehensif.

Abstract

Qiraat al-Quran is a branch of science that studies the various methods of reading the Qur'an obtained from the Prophet Muhammad SAW through reliable channels. The purpose of this study is to reveal the meaning of Qiraat, establish the correct systematic rules regarding Qiraat, explain the various levels in Qiraat, describe the types of Qiraat, and explain the reasons behind the differences that exist, as well as highlight the significance of the study of this field. The results of the study indicate that a recognized Qiraat must meet three main requirements: in line with the rules of correct Arabic, in accordance with the rasm Uthmani, and have a valid sanad. Differences in Qiraat arise as a result of history and varying dialects among the Companions. Studying Qiraat is very important to maintain the authenticity of the Qur'an, deepen the meaning of its verses, and avoid fanaticism towards a particular reading method.

Abstract

Munasabah in the study of Ulumul Qur'an refers to the relationship between Qur'anic verses that are interrelated in a particular context. The main issue discussed is the importance of understanding munasabah in Qur'anic interpretation to reveal a deeper and more comprehensive meaning. The purpose of this study is to explore the concept of munasabah, focusing on the relationship between verses in one surah and between interrelated surahs, and its impact on the understanding of Islamic teachings as a whole. The method used is an analytical approach to classical and contemporary tafsir, by assessing the contributions of mufassirs such as Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir and the inclusive approach of contemporary mufassirs who consider social and psychological aspects. The results show that understanding munasabah clarifies the interpretation of verses that are often understood separately, thus helping to avoid mistakes in understanding divine revelation. Thus, the understanding of munasabah is crucial to produce appropriate and relevant interpretations in the context of Muslim life, as well as strengthening the relationship between the teachings of the Qur'an and the social realities faced by society.
