Abstract

Scientific problem-solving is a core competency in science education, yet students frequently struggle to apply it effectively. This study aims to analyze junior high school students’ science problem-solving abilities in relation to personality types within an Indonesian context, specifically at SMP Negeri 3 Batanghari. A qualitative case study approach was employed, involving 12 students categorized into four personality types—sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic—based on psychological assessment, interviews, and classroom observations. Data were collected through science problem-solving tasks, classroom observation, and the think-aloud protocol during task completion. Thematic analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions, supported by source and method triangulation to ensure credibility. Findings reveal that personality types significantly influence problem-solving strategies and efficiency. Sanguine students tend to solve problems quickly but with lower accuracy, while melancholic students demonstrate high precision but slower progress. Choleric learners exhibit assertive and goal-oriented approaches, whereas phlegmatic students show consistent yet hesitant performance. The study concludes that differentiating science instruction based on students’ psychological characteristics can enhance the effectiveness of problem-solving skill development. These insights support the need for personalized pedagogical strategies in science classrooms.

Abstract

Abstract : The purpose of this study is to identify the causes that contribute tophysics learning with the application of superior classes at SMA Negeri 2 Metro,especially in the learning process. The implementation of superior classes is astrategy in education whose purpose is to provide optimal, intensive, and in-deptheducational services to students who have high academic potential. Some of theproblems identified include low understanding of physics concepts, low studentinterest in physics, and low student learning achievement in this subject. In aneffort to address these issues and improve the quality of physics learning, flagshipclasses were introduced as a potential solution. The method used was to collectdata through classroom observations, teacher and student interviews. Thepurpose of this study was to obtain maximum understanding related to the impactof the implementation of the flagship class. The discussion in this study highlightsthe importance of excellent classes as an effective strategy in organizing physicslearning. In the flagship class, students get a more interesting and interactivelearning experience, which helps them understand physics concepts better. Inaddition, good support and motivation from physics teachers are also factors thatplay a role in the effectiveness of superior classes. Based on the research results,the conclusion is that the featured class has high effectiveness in organizingphysics learning at SMA Negeri 2 Metro. Therefore, it is recommended that schoolscontinue to improve and develop excellent classes as an effort to improve thequality of physics learning. Increasing the application of supporting technology inphysics learning can also be a suggestion to optimize the effectiveness of superiorclasses.

Abstract

Differentiated teaching modules are designed to provide learningexperiences that are more appropriate to students' learning styles and focus onstudent-centered learning. Therefore, students with different interests andtalents can obtain learning material in the same class but in different ways, oneof which can be identified by looking at the learning style of each student. Theaim of this research is to determine the level of feasibility and user response toteaching modules to assist differentiated learning in sound wave material. Thistype of research is descriptive quantitative with the development model used isADDIE, which involves five stages: Analysis, Design, Development,Implementation, and Evaluation. The instruments used were interview sheetsand assessment questionnaires in the form of validation from media experts,material experts, summative tests and user responses. Researchers used theresults of assessment questionnaires and interviews to make it easier to drawconclusions. Based on the analysis results, the average percentage value ofthe three validations is 86.2%. The teaching module developed is very worthyof the valid category. The results of responses from users of the teachingmodule for learning differentiation of sound wave material from physics subjecteducators at SMA Negeri 1 Batanghari, SMA Negeri 1 Metro, and MAMuhammadiyah Metro obtained an average percentage score of 88.1% with thecriteria "very good".

Abstract

Practical activities will make students excited about learning so that cognitive abilities will be good. Practical activities make it easier for teachers to make abstract learning realistic and students will be in a pleasant learning condition. In minimizing abstract concepts in physics learning into real concepts, then one of the materials that can be found in everyday life is elasticity. This study aims to determine the effect of practicum activities on students' cognitive abilities after using elasticity practicum tools. The type of research used is quasi experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study were students of class XI IPA SMA Negeri 5 Metro. The sampling technique used simple random sampling, obtained XI IPA 2 and XI IPA 4 classes as research samples. The instrument used to determine the cognitive abilities of students is a test question. The results of hypothesis testing measured using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test nonparametric test showed that the Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 <0.05 so that H0 was rejected. The results showed that there was an effect of practicum activities on students' cognitive abilities.

Abstract

Abstract: Physics is one of the subjects that is quite abstract and difficult for students to understand, especially in wave material. So it requires relevant learning media to help students understand the material to be delivered. This study aims to overcome the limitations in the delivery of wave material through the development of a wave simulation model design using Microsoft Excel as a learning media, then test the feasibility and level of attractiveness of the model. This research was designed using the Research and Development (R&D) research method based on the 4-D research model. The research respondents were Class XI of SMA Negeri 1 Rumbia in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research and development produces a final product in the form of physics learning media for wave material based on Microsoft Excel. This wave learning media can present simulations of transverse waves, longitudinal waves, and wave superposition made using the developer menu. The learning media that has been made is then validated by experts, namely media experts and material experts. Media expert validation obtained a percentage of 88.94% with very feasible eligibility criteria, while material expert validation obtained a percentage of 85.11% with very feasible eligibility criteria, and the results of small group trials obtained a percentage of 86% with very feasible eligibility criteria.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan literasi dan numerasi siswa Sekolah Dasar di Kota Metro menjadi masalah yang membutuhkan penanganan segera. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi dan numerasi melalui pelatihan dan pendampingan guru menggunakan model Lesson Study Learning Community (LSLC) dengan fokus pada pemanfaatan buku bacaan bermutu. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di 12 Sekolah Dasar dengan capaian literasi dan numerasi rendah. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan intensif guru, pelaksanaan lesson study dalam tiga siklus pembelajaran, serta refleksi dan replikasi praktik baik. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, angket, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pelaksanaan pembelajaran dan keterlibatan siswa dari siklus pertama ke siklus berikutnya. Guru melaporkan peningkatan kemampuan profesional dan kesiapan dalam mengintegrasikan buku bacaan bermutu, sementara siswa menunjukkan peningkatan motivasi belajar serta kemampuan berpikir kritis dan numerik. Pengabdian ini membuktikan bahwa penerapan model LSLC yang terintegrasi dengan pemanfaatan buku berkualitas efektif dalam memperkuat budaya literasi dan numerasi di sekolah dasar, sekaligus meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran secara berkelanjutan. Implikasi dari kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi rujukan bagi sekolah lain dalam pengembangan pembelajaran berbasis literasi dan numerasi.
