Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease caused by the failure of the pancreas to produce insulin hormone sufficiently, causing an increase in blood glucose levels. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative research by taking samples in three districts, namely Tamalanrea, Panakkukang and Tamalate with a total sample of 250 determined by purposive sampling. The results of the study show that people know the triggers for Diabetes Mellitus, but people still practice an irregular lifestyle or do not limit foods that can trigger Diabetes Mellitus.

Abstract

All over the world floods are recognized as one of the most detrimental natural disasters. This study aims to determine the amount of knowledge of the police regarding flood evacuation and the attitude of the police apparatus in carrying out flood evacuation. the research method used descriptive quantitative with sampling using purposive sampling so that a sample of 20 police officers was obtained. Furthermore, the analysis technique was carried out by paired sample t test to see the difference before and after being given training on flood evacuation. The results showed that there was an increase in the knowledge and attitude of the police after being given flood evacuation training.

Abstract

The research objective was to determine the influence of knowledge, attitudes, and motivation on detergent use behavior. Detergent waste water is one of the biggest contributors to environmental pollution. This study used a questionnaire data collection method to the community totaling 60 people and carried out multiple regression analysis. The results of this research show that: (i) the influence of knowledge on detergent usage behavior is included in the high category. (ii) the effect of attitudes towards detergent use behavior is in the high category, (iii) the effect of motivation on detergent use behavior is included in the high category, and (iv) the effect of knowledge, attitudes, and motivation on detergent use behavior shows a significant regress equation. This means that the community influences the behavior of using detergent with regression coefficients of 0.043, 0.010 and 0.000 respectively.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that has started to develop organic farming. The attractiveness of organic farming, both farmers and ordinary people, is also triggered by consumer awareness to choose food that is safe for health. This research is a survey research, namely explanatory/confirmation research. The research was conducted using interview methods and questionnaire instruments. The sampling method used purposive sampling. Hypothesis testing showed that the nature of innovation (t-statistic 2.741) and extension support (t-statistic 8.530) had a significant effect on the interest level of farmers. Likewise, the nature of potential users (t-statistic 3.174) and extension support (t-statistic 2.274) have a significant effect on farmer adoption rates. The conclusion of this research is; (1) Farmers are familiar with and have tried organic farming, but the adoption process is still influenced by market access which makes farmers reluctant to start implementing organic farming; (2) the nature of innovation and extension support are factors that influence the interest level of farmers; farmer's nature (characteristics) and counseling are factors that influence adoption; (3) The Salassae Farmer Swabina Community (KSPS) in this case is a place for farmers to learn about the application of organic farming, but it needs to be empowered again for independent extension workers who are able to play a role together with KSPS.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains one of the major public health problems worldwide and in Indonesia. The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that the incidence of dengue has increased sharply over the past few decades. WHO has even classified dengue as one of the top ten threats to global health, and Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest incidence. This study aims to determine the extent to which community knowledge and attitudes about Aedes spp. mosquitoes influence DHF prevention behaviors. The study employed an analytic quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected using simple random sampling from community members living in Makassar City. A total of 75 respondents from several urban villages participated in the study. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of two main sections: knowledge (covering facts, concepts, and procedures) related to Aedes mosquitoes and DHF, and attitudes (covering cognitive, affective, and conative components). Data were analyzed using univariate analysis to describe the distribution of knowledge and attitudes. The results showed that most respondents (84%) had knowledge in the very high category regarding Aedes aegypti, followed by 10% in the high category and 6% in the medium category, with no respondents falling into the low or very low categories. This pattern indicates that, in general, respondents’ knowledge of Aedes aegypti is at a very good level. Meanwhile, respondents’ attitudes toward DHF preventive behaviors tended to be highly positive. A total of 25 respondents (33%) were in the very high attitude category and 48 respondents (64%) were in the high category; combined, approximately 97% of respondents demonstrated positive attitudes toward DHF prevention efforts. These findings are consistent with various KAP (knowledge, attitude, practice) studies showing that in communities with adequate exposure to dengue-related information, attitudes toward DHF prevention are generally in the good to very good categories.
