Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between investment in working capital measured by trade credit and corporate performance in 463 companies in Indonesia between 2007 and 2017. This research confirms the non-linearity inverted U shape of the link between working capital and corporate performance. It suggests that there is an optimal point of investment that is beneficial for the company. This research also examines the impact of financial constraint and investment level on working capital. Our finding shows that companies that experience financial constraints have lower investment levels than those without financial constraints.

Abstract

Abstract- This research wants to investigate the effect of financial knowledge, basic individual traits and compound traits towards intention to invest of pre-retirees with the intervening variable of financial self-efficacy. Older pre-retirees have unique psychological and economic position, as they experience their highest level of lifetime earnings while nearing the end of their financial life cycle. Older pre-retirees must find ways to self-regulate their financial environment. One way to deal with this is through the investment scheme. We use modified model to know the factors that affect intention to invest based on their knowledge and personality, with financial self-efficacy as the intervening variable. We involved 160 respondents of 45 years old and older. The result showed that all the hypothesis is rejected except financial knowledge which is positively associated with intention to invest. This result presents that pre-retirees in Indonesia who have good financial knowledge will have intention to invest in financial products. Keywords: Pre-retirees, intention to invest, financial self-efficacy

Abstract

As an archipelagic country, Indonesia has so much potential to promote a blue economy. The blue economy refers to industrialized fishery activities promoting and accelerating economic growth. In other words, this industrialization in the marine and fishery sector is the process of adding value to the productivity and production scale. The fishery sector is one of the main sectors contributing to Indonesia’s economic growth and is not a standalone sector. However, it also brings other sectors into motion, such as tourism. Furthermore, we would like to dive deep into the technology-based blue economy. This research proposal aims to identify inhibiting and supporting factors for the digitalization of SMEs in the fishery sector. Moreover, after gathering those factors, this research will continue to build a model that explains entrepreneurial self-motivation in promoting and hindering digitalization programs. Two important reasons that this research is necessary are, first, limited studies were trying to identify factors that cause the technology gap for the SMEs in the fishery sector. Secondly, developing a model of internal factors that promote and hinder SMEs from going digital, particularly in the blue economy. This research will be conducted in Bitung City, North Sulawesi, as the object of research due to the potential of natural resources in the fishery sector.

Abstract

This study explores the intricate relationship between uncertainty and corporate investment inefficiencies in the Asia-Pacific region, utilizing data from non-financial firms between 2008 and 2021. The method used in the study is fixed effect regression with Driscoll-Kraay robust standard error. The empirical analysis unveils that uncertainty leads to overinvestment. This phenomenon is more pronounced in middle and low-income economies, while high-income countries display a distinct trend of less susceptibility to uncertainty-induced suboptimal investment choices. The study’s implications extend to policymakers and industry stakeholders, urging a closer examination of firms’ risk management strategies, particularly considering the strategic potential of overinvestment as a buffer against uncertainty’s adverse effects. This holds particular significance in the dynamic economic landscape of the Asia-Pacific countries, where the study contributes to a deeper understanding of the interplay between uncertainty and inefficiency of investment decisions across diverse economic settings.
