Abstract

Paraquat herbicide disrupts the hormone Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), causes testicular damage and changes in spermatogenesis. This study aims to determine the effect of supplementation of green bean sprout extract (Vigna radiata L.) on FSH levels, Sertoli cell counts in male Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus) induced by paraquat herbicide. This research uses true experimental with posttest only control group design. A total of 25 rats were divided into 5 groups: P0 was given standard feed, P1 was given paraquat 4 4 mg/g BW, P2 was given green bean sprout extract supplement (GBES) dose 21.6 4 mg/g BW and paraquat 4 mg/g BW P3 was given GBES dose 43.2 4 mg/g BW and paraquat is administered orally for 15 days. Measurement of FSH levels using ELISA, while Sertoli cells were observed using testicular histology preparate. Mann-Whitney test resulted significance of p<0.05, which showed that the administration of GBES influenced FSH levels and the number of Sertoli cells. GBES doses of 21.6 4 mg/g BW, 43.2 4 mg/g BW, and 86.4 4 mg/g BW were shown to increase FSH levels and Sertoli cell counts in paraquat-induced Wistar rats. GBES increased FSH levels and the number of Sertoli cells in paraquat-induced rats.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) leads to an increase in Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), which disrupts the function of pancreatic β-cells. The dependency on medications often occurs, hence there is a need for natural remedies with antihyperglycemic properties, such as coffee. Coffee contains high levels of antioxidants like chlorogenic acid, flavonoids, and caffeine, which are exogenous antioxidants that can activate NRF-2 and increase the activity of the enzyme Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), thus acting as an antihyperglycemic agent. This study aims to determine the effect of robusta coffee on blood glucose levels in rats with DM conditions. This experimental study used a Randomized Control Pretest-Posttest Group Design. The sample in this study included 24 male Rattus norvegicus rats, aged 3 months, with a body weight of 230-250 grams, divided into 4 groups randomly after a one-week acclimation period. The DM condition was induced by administering streptozotocin at 40 mg/KgBW, followed by a pretest blood glucose level examination after 3 days of streptozotocin induction. The diabetic rats were then given robusta coffee once a day for a period of 14 days. On the 15th day, a posttest blood glucose level examination was conducted. The results showed that the control group (KN) had no significant difference (p=0.530), while the treatment groups KP (p=0.003), KK1 (p=0.013), and KK2 (p=0.000) showed significant differences (p<0.05). The conclusion of this study is that the administration of robusta coffee (Coffea canephora) can reduce blood glucose levels in rats with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Tuberculosis lungs is disease infectious disease caused by bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB disease still become threat health Indonesian society which leads to illness , disability and death tall so that need exists countermeasures. Research objectives know connection between rate sour tendon with obedience drink medication in pulmonary TB patients. Study This is study retrospective analytic observational with approach cross sectional, with use analysis Research Chi square test statistics conducted at the Ambarawa Community Health Center (BALKESMAS) in October 2022. Population all moderate pulmonary TB patients undergo treatment at BALKESMAS Ambarawa. Research sample This of the total population namely 30 patients. Results from 30 respondents there is rate sour veins in patients Tuberculosis lungs there is enhancement rate sour tendon namely 11 respondents that is man with average levels sour urate 7.08 mg/dL (6 respondents ), female with average level 6.41 mg/dL (5 respondents ). Based on forever drink drug obtained that amount patient with treatment >3 months 57%, 2-3 months 30%, and 1 month 13%. Based on characteristics that kind sex men 53% and kind sex women 47%. Based on characteristics age category teenagers 23%, adults 50% elderly 27%. Based on obedience drink anti-tuberculosis drugs by 28 respondents or 93.34% of total number of respondents . Whereas For respondents who did not obedient drink drug namely 2 respondents or 6.06%. Chi square test results on compliance status drink medicine, type gender, age No showing connection significant (P<0.05) against rate sour veins in patients Tuberculosis lungs. Research conclusions This No There is connection rate sour tendon with obedience drink medication in pulmonary TB patients, This caused by TB Treatment consists of over 2 stages that is intensive and advanced, function system immunity body relate with age, history of medication, obesity, consumption purines , and alcohol.

Abstract

Pulau Jawa tumbuhan kencana ungu tumbuh dengan subur sebagai tanaman liar pada ketinggian mulai dari 150 m di atas permukaan laut. Kencana ungu mengandung flavonoid, tanin, alkaloid, dan saponin yang memiliki peran sebagai antibakteri, antiinflamasi, dan antihistamin. Kandungan flavonoid dan alkaloid dapat digunakan untuk antibakteri yaitu menghambat bakteri Staphylococcus aureus yang merupakan bakteri dari penyakit dermatitis dan mastitis. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri yang mampu menghambat bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode difusi cakram, variable bebas dalam penelitian adalah konsentrasi ekstrak etanol daun kencana ungu 15%, 20% dan 25% dan variable terikatnya adalah aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri staphylococcus aureus. Hasil zona hambat pertumbuhan bakteri staphylococcus aureus pada hari ke 1 dan ke 14 yang dihasilkan pada konsentrasi 15% hasilnya 1,5 cm dan 1,3 cm. Konsentrasi 20% pada hari ke 1 diperoleh 1,8 cm dan pada hari ke 14 diperoleh 1,9 cm. Konsentrasi 25% pada hari ke 1 diperolah 2,3 cm dan pada hari ke 14 diperoleh 2,2 cm. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah ekstrak daun kencana ungu yang dapat menghambat bakteri staphylococcus aureus dengan konsentrasi optimum 25%.

Abstract

Jumlah pendonor darah di Indonesia relatif rendah yaitu 250 ribu, hal ini tidak sebanding dengan populasi di Indonesia. Menunjukan kurangnya kesadaran pada pendonor darah sukarela di kalangan masyarakat. Pemaparan donor darah merupakan sarana penting untuk pola hidup sehat dan memiliki kontribusi yang penting bagi kesehatan. Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman masyarakat Kelurahan Bangetayu Wetan Kecamatan Genuk Kota Semarang Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai donor darah mampu berpengaruh terhadap sikap untuk kesediaan menjadi pendonor darah. Keterbatasan jumlah pendonor disebabkan pengetahuan yaitu manfaat pentingnya donor darah yang kurang dan tidak adanya informasi tentang donor darah. Metode yang dilakukan adalah dengan cara penyuluhan edukasi dan skrining pemeriksaan kesehatan. Untuk mengetahui peningkatan pengetahuan tentang edukasi donor darah melalui pre test dan post test. Skrining kesehatan masyarakat setelah sesi penyuluhan berakhir. Hasil penyuluhan terdapat peningkatan pemahaman peserta manfaat donor darah dibuktikan dengan peningkatan pengetahuan dari 84,58 point menjadi 90 point. Skrining kesehatan calon donor yaitu pada pemeriksaan tekanan darah terdapat normal 7 responden (28%), pre hipertensi 12 responden (48%), stage 1 hipertensi 1 responden (4%), dan stage 2 hipertensi 5 responden (20%). Pemeriksaan kadar Hemoglobin terdapat kadar hemoglobin yang normal (12.5-17.0 gr/dL) sebanyak 21 responden (84%), kemudian terdapat kadar Hemoglobin yang tidak normal (<12.5 gr/dL) sebanyak 4 responden (16%).
