Abstract

This research is an escalating the environmental management of Kendari Bay coastal areas using an interpretatively structural modeling (ISM) technique. The fundamental circumstances of various problems in the coastal areas of Kendari Bay become complex due to the involvement of many interested parties (stakeholders) such as local government, communities, industries, merchants, hotel's owners, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and dynamic because the degradation rate of the coastal environment will change over time. This research aimed to seek the institutional roles in terms of concerned institutions, related government policies, and the needed programs in managing the coastal areas of Kendari Bay. Data collection was conducted from August to October 2018. Data were gathered through interviews, observation, and focus group discussions by using a technique of Interpretatively Structural Modelling (ISM). Results of this research exhibit that key elements of prioritized programs were information system development, research and development consolidation, clean the Kendari Bay movement and against pollution socialization, the establishment of community or custom-based organizations, and creating a coastal development agent of the bay. Furthermore, the results of analyzing the institutional key elements in broadening environmental management of Kendari Bay coastal areas were suggested to increase multi-sectors coordination among institutions such as Marine and Fishery Office, Regional Development Agency (Bappeda), Settlements and Public Housing Office, Environmental Office, Traditional Leaders, Watershed Management Agency, and Forestry Office. Those institutions in the analysis were hoped to be standard institutions in expanding the management of Kendari Bay coastal areas sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of training effectiveness on employee performance with motivation as a mediating variable. The research method employs a quantitative approach, utilizing the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique. Data were obtained by distributing questionnaires to all 44 employees of KPKNL Medan and analyzed using SmartPLS with bootstrapping tests. The results showed that training effectiveness, as measured by the Kirkpatrick Model, had a positive and significant effect on employee performance (b = 0.356; p < 0.001) and on motivation based on Self-Determination Theory (b = 0.843; p < 0.000). Motivation was also shown to have a significant effect on performance (b =0.613; p<0.000) and mediated the relationship between training effectiveness and performance with a greater indirect effect (b =0.517) than the direct effect. These findings confirm that motivation is an important mechanism that explains how effective training can have a real impact on performance improvement. This research provides theoretical contributions by integrating the Kirkpatrick model and Self-Determination Theory, as well as practical implications for management at KPKNL Medan in designing training programs that not only improve technical competence but also increase employee work motivation.

Abstract

Ensuring the availability and sustainability of clean water is a key focus of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has emerged as a significant concern for both central and local governments in Indonesia. In the Kapongan District of Situbondo Regency, the government's PAMSIMAS Programme is a proactive initiative designed to secure safe access to drinking water for the community. Within this district, two villages, Landangan and Pokaan, have successfully implemented community-based drinking water provision. The ongoing sustainability of these water supply systems in these villages is pivotal for meeting the continuous drinking water needs of the community, necessitating a comprehensive investigation into its sustainability. The primary objective of this study is to assess the sustainability status of community-based drinking water provision within the ongoing PAMSIMAS program in Kapongan District. The dimensions under consideration encompass environmental, social, economic, technological, and institutional aspects. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilizes the Rap-SPAM analysis method, a modification of Rapfish, with primary data collected through surveys, observations, and interviews. Additionally, secondary data is acquired through an extensive literature review and consultation with various related agencies. The assessment results reveal a sustainability index of 58.92, classifying it as reasonably sustainable. The Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) model produced Stress values ranging from 0.15 to 0.18 and R2 values between 0.93 to 0.94. The variance between the MDS index and Monte Carlo analysis is less than 5%. In conclusion, this study finds that the community-based water supply facilitated by the PAMSIMAS program in Kapongan District demonstrates a reasonably sustainable status. To enhance its sustainability, there is a need to prioritize and improve dimensions with lower sustainability index values in a holistic manner.ABSTRAKMemastikan ketersediaan dan keberlanjutan air bersih merupakan fokus utama Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs) PBB dan menjadi perhatian besar bagi pemerintah pusat dan daerah di Indonesia. Abstract

SMA Cenderawasih II in South Tangerang faces dual challenges, including students’ low understanding of nutrition and the economic limitations of their families. The Community Service Team from the Graduate School (SPS) of Universitas Terbuka (UT) took the initiative to implement a collaborative learning model called "Young Lelepreneur." This model was specifically designed by integrating catfish farming curriculum into school activities in close coordination with SMA Cenderawasih II. The community service program at SMA Cenderawasih II, South Tangerang, successfully enhanced students’ knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial character through practice-based catfish farming activities (learning by doing). Through a series of preparation, technical training, and implementation stages, students not only gained a theoretical understanding of basic biology and fishery management but also applied it directly in the field from pond construction and feed management to water quality control. This activity strengthened the synergy between the school, the community service team, and the students in realizing contextual and applicable learning. Monitoring and evaluation results indicate that this program has the potential to become a practice-based learning model that can be integrated into entrepreneurship and applied biology curricula. Furthermore, the development plan of the "Young Lelepreneur" program serves as a strategic step toward creating an educational ecosystem focused on innovation, economic independence, and school community empowerment.
