Abstract

Alluvium deposits from the Kendawangan River located in Marau, Ketapang, West Kalimantan have been known for their radioactive and rare earth mineral potential. In this paper, heavy minerals taken from alluvium deposits will be characterized to determine the elemental distribution of uranium, thorium, and rare earth elements in each mineral and their mineralogical composition. The samples are taken by panning and prepared using the flotation method to obtain heavy mineral concentrates. Geochemical analysis was carried out using a Bruker M4 Tornado plus Micro-XRF and continued with mineralogical analysis using AMICS (Advanced Mineral Identification and Characterization System) software. It was found that the distribution of heavy minerals from the sand samples was dominated by manganoan ilmenite, ilmenite, rutile, zircon, magnetite, and monazite, as well as thorite, cassiterite, xenotime, allanite, and other minerals in small quantities. Uranium, thorium, and rare earth elements are found in monazite, thorite, xenotime, zircon, and allanite.

Abstract

Monazite mineral chemically contained U, Th and rare earth elements (REE) that geologically associated with the presence of zircon as plaser beach and river sediments. Distribution of granite that containing monazite lays on a single point lead Malaysia, Bangka Belitung, Karimata. The content of monazite sands in concentrate reached 2.719% is in the granite contain monazite 1-2%. The purpose of this research are expected to get the geological character of information acquisition, distribution and potentially resource of Monazite in the10 km2 area. The method taken are the radioactivity measurement of rocks and sediment, heavy mineral sampling and laboratory analysis, including grain size analysis and the levels of U, Th and RE.The Results of research showed that, in geological rock formation composed of Carbon-old klampit - Perm who have metamorfosed and unbreakable then intrusived by granite Triassic - Jurassic containing monazite, zircon. Due process of weathering, sedimentation of mineral monazite, zircon separated and deposited as alluvial scattered trending NW - SE, which is reflected from the measurement data alluvial radioactivity ranged from 75-400 c / s. U concentration ranges from 9.5 to 76.5 ppm U and Th content of 55-610 ppm Th with the prospect area 399.3 Ha.

Abstract

Management area of leadership and commitment in the quality management system is a mean to achieve successful functions, even more on construction industry. The objective of this research is to analyze the correlation between leadership and commitment focus management area and quality performance as indicated by rework. Research location is uranium (U), thorium (Th), and rare earth elements (REE) processing pilot plant construction area in Center for Nuclear Minerals Technology-BATAN. Primary data were collected from the 36 of 37 submitted questionnaires, and representing 97 % response rate. The research used descriptive analysis, which depends on the poll and the use of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) main program for data analysis. The relationship between leadership and commitment and quality performance was analyzed using spearman rank correlation coefficient. Findings of research provide guideline and alert to project managers or management of organization where leadership, commitment, infrastructure, and environmental work have moderate to strong correlation to rework level. The results further revealed that there is no relationship between responsibility and authority for the management system and organizational policy and construction quality performance. The research provides evidence, in fact to achieve the quality performance of a pilot plant construction must be concerned with leadership attribute, maintaining commitment and provide support resources on the whole project cycle.
