Abstract

Indonesia is a major exporter of tuna, both fresh and frozen, as well as processed tuna. The bones are not appropriately utilised because they are generally discarded during tuna production and only the meat is consumed. Another method to utilize it is by turning it into flour, which may then be transformed into a variety of processed goods. The objective of this research is to create tuna fish powder from fish skeletons and head bones, assess the viability of using tuna fish bone waste by analyzing its nutritional value and level of microbial contamination, and then offer a substitute for enhancing community nutrition. The nutritional analysis component of the study's findings revealed that the ash content of tuna flour was 57.63%, the protein content was 26.13, the water content was 5.20%, and the carbohydrate content was 6.89%. The results of all microbiological tests for the total number of bacteria are safe. In order to meet their daily nutritional needs, it is advised that the community and associated companies create tuna fish powder, which is ideal as a food additive.

Abstract

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakatini bertujuan meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat melalui pelatihan kompresi dada.

Abstract

Background: Hospitalization is a stressful experience for children, often causing fear, anxiety, crying, and uncooperative behavior during nursing procedures. Children may perceive hospitals as threatening, particularly during invasive procedures. Audiovisual distraction is a recognized non-pharmacological atraumatic care approach to reduce distress in hospitalized children. Purpose: This study aimed to describe audiovisual atraumatic care implementation and its effect on cooperative behavior in hospitalized children. Method: This descriptive case study was conducted in the pediatric ward of RSUP Fatmawati Hospital, Jakarta, Indonesia, from March 7–12, 2022. Two children aged 3 and 10 years experiencing hospitalization-related stress were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via direct observation and interviews. Cooperative behavior was evaluated using an observation sheet adapted from Harsono (2006), assessing crying, refusal, facial expression, eye contact, willingness to follow instructions, and verbal responses. The intervention consisted of watching cartoons for 15 minutes and playing online games for 10 minutes, delivered twice daily for three consecutive days. Data were analyzed descriptively. Results: Before the intervention, cooperative behavior scores were 2 and 1 for Case 1 and Case 2. After three days, both cases achieved scores of 4. Observations revealed reduced crying, improved eye contact, calmer expressions, and better acceptance of nursing procedures. Given the descriptive, two-case nature of this study, findings should be interpreted cautiously, and larger studies are needed. Conclusion: Both cases showed improved cooperative behavior following audiovisual atraumatic care. Larger studies are necessary to validate these findings and establish this intervention's benefits in pediatric nursing.

Abstract

The development of sustainable and cost-effective biomaterials is a primary focus in modern biomedical engineering. Addressing the critical need for circular economy solutions, this study introduces a novel ternary hydrogel composite integrating cellulose extracted from rice husk waste into a Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Guar Gum (GG) matrix. Cellulose was successfully extracted through alkalization and bleaching processes, with FTIR analysis confirming the removal of lignin and hemicellulose. The optimization of the hydrogel matrix demonstrated that a composition of 12.5% PVA and 1% Guar Gum (F2) exhibited superior mechanical properties, achieving a Tensile Strength (TS) of 10.49 MPa and Elongation at Break (EB) of 271.17%. However, the incorporation of rice husk cellulose (F3) unexpectedly resulted in a significant reduction in mechanical integrity, with TS dropping to 5.48 MPa. Uniquely, this research elucidates the mechanistic origin of this trade-off: SEM analysis provided definitive evidence that the failure was attributed to severe cellulose agglomeration and poor interfacial adhesion, which acted as structural defects. Furthermore, the study reveals a critical artifact where structural failure correlated with an increased Swelling Ratio (245.8%), proving that the observed high-water uptake was driven by passive void filling rather than true network hydrophilicity. The study concludes that while rice husk is a viable source of cellulose, simple solution blending is insufficient for reinforcement. Future research must prioritize high-energy dispersion techniques to overcome agglomeration and realize the material's potential for biomedical applications.
