Abstract

In a learning process, each students’ has different level of capability in mastering the teaching materials. For those who belong to the fast learner group and are able to achieve mastery learning earlier, ideally they need an additional learning activities to develop their skills more optimally. One of such learning activities is commonly known as the enrichment programs. Then, one of the learning challenges that can be applied in this enrichment program is proposing problem solving tasks to foster students' high order thinking skills. Based on the characteristics, it is revealed that PISA problems or PISA-like tasks has characteristics that are very in accordance with the characteristics of the rocemmenced enrichment problems. So that is why PISA problems or PISA-like tasks could be highly regarded as the enrichment tasks for students who have achieved early learning completeness. PISA mathematics problems or PISA-like mathematics tasks is expected to be able to optimize students 'mathematical literacy skills through activation of basic mathematical abilities, which in turn can help the success of enrichment programs in developing students' skills more optimally.

Abstract

The development of character education has been extensively studied, but research on instilling character values in early childhood learners at RA (Islamic Kindergarten) institutions remains limited. This study, therefore, aims to analyze the model of instilling character values in early childhood at Islamic Kindergartens during the online learning process. This descriptive qualitative research adopts a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through structured interviews, observation, and documents from principals, teachers, and parents of early childhood at several Islamic Kindergartens (Raudatul Athfal) Watampone, south Sulawesi. Data was qualitatively analyzed using three steps: data reduction, data display, and drawing  conclusion. A thematic analysis using Atlas.ti was employed. The results reveal that the optimal development of character values in early childhood at RA Watampone during the covid-19 pandemic is achieved through diverse models in the learning process, including value inculcation, exemplification, facilitation, and the development of intellectual and social skills, habituation, play, storytelling, and advisory approaches. School culture-based character value implementation at RA Watampone involves routine and spontaneous habituation, exemplifying behavior, and conditioning. Additionally, community-based character value implementation is achieved through partnership and synergistic-collaborative models. Keywords: Character values, Character development, Early childhood, Islamic kindergarten

Abstract

This study aims to develop a comprehensive instrument for the Islamic Education course examination. Because the implementation of the Comprehensive Examination is still partial, flexible, and not yet supported by an instrument that has gone through a systematic quality testing process, it employs a research and development (R&D) approach, adopting a modified version of the Borg and Gall development model, which consists of seven stages: (1) research and information gathering, (2) planning, (3) development of the initial product, (4) limited trial, (5) revision of the initial product, (6) field testing, and (7) final product revision. Data were collected through interview guidelines and questionnaires to examine the theoretical and empirical characteristics of the test items. Data analysis was conducted using the R Studio application to determine item discrimination, difficulty level, and distractor effectiveness. The results indicate that the final product consists of 5 difficult items (25%), 12 moderate items (60%), and three easy items (15%). In terms of item discrimination, eight items (40%) were classified as very good, seven items (35%) as good, and five items (25%) as requiring revision. Regarding distractor effectiveness, 17 items (85%) were categorized as good, while three items (15%) were considered requiring revision. Based on the development of comprehensive instruments, the Islamic Education course shows good quality and is suitable for use.
