Abstract

Background: Everyday 7,000 babies die worldwide, with 2,4 million babies dying in the first month of life. While in Indonesia 19 deaths per 1000 live births with the main causes of neonatal death in 2017 were complication related to premature birth (asphyxia or difficulty breathing at birth), infections, and births defects. Meanwhile, in East Kalimantan, the highest cause of death was dominated by low birth weight (LBW) followed by asphyxia neonatorum. The examination that is always used in newborns by health workers to assess the occurrence of distress respiration neonatal is to assess the APGAR score. The APGAR score reflects clinical signs of distress respiration neonatal, such as cyanosis or pallor, bradycardia, reflex response to stimuli, hypotonia, and apnea or dyspnea. Scores will be reported within the first minute and fifth minute after birth for all infants and thereafter at intervals of 5 minutes to 20 minutes for infants with a score below 7 (asphyxia). Preeclampsia and eclampsia, antepartum haemorrhage, and maternal anemia are factors that can affect the APGAR score which is one of the assessments of the diagnosis of neonatal asphyxia. Research Objectives: to determine the relationship between risk factors and APGAR scores below 7 (asphyxia) in Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Hospital, Samarinda. Methods: The design of this study used case control using observational analytical methods. The sample was taken from the medical record data of mothers and children born at the Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda for the 2019-2021 period as many as 65 cases and 65 controls. Result: Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The results of the analysis showed that there was a relationship between preeclampsia (p=0.000), eclampsia (p=0.003), antepartum bleeding (p=0.001), and anemia (p=0.001) with an APGAR score below 7.Keywords:  APGAR score, preeclampsia, eclampsia, anemia, haemorrhage, asphyxia.

Abstract

COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, has become a global pandemic since late 2019. In Indonesia, data shows that 11% of cases occur in children, but information on clinical and radiological features in children in East Kalimantan, especially Kutai Kartanegara Regency, is still limited. This study aims to determine the characteristics, clinical features, chest radiographs, and laboratory findings of pediatric patients with COVID-19 at Aji Muhammad Parikesit Hospital, Tenggarong in 2020. This study used a descriptive observational research method. The study sample was selected using purposive sampling technique with a total of 139 pediatric patients confirmed with COVID-19 from medical records and digital chest radiograph data. The results showed that the age group of 10-18 years was the most confirmed with COVID-19 (54%), females had the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases (53.2%), asymptomatic symptom criteria were obtained in 61.2% and mild in 38.3%. Symptoms were dominated by fever, cough, runny nose, and anosmia. The results of chest radiographs were dominated by abnormal findings (59%) and all on bilateral lungs with consolidation. In blood laboratory, ANC, NLR, Leucocyte, and Thrombocyte levels were dominated by the normal category, while ALC and Hemoglobin levels were dominated by the low category. This study describes the clinical manifestations, laboratory findings, and chest radiographs that are generally found in COVID-19 patients.

Abstract

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), or in Indonesian called Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (GPPH), is a unique condition characterized by symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Children with symptoms that lead to a diagnosis of ADHD need early detection using screening Abbreviated Conners Rating Scale(ACRS)  so that earlier management can be carried out to prevent the emergence of other accompanying mental disorders in the future. Objective: To described symptoms based on ACRS screening in pediatric ADHD patients at Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Hospital, Samarinda. Methods: This was a descriptive type using secondary data. The research data comes from the medical records of children with ADHD at the outpatient medical record installation at Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda from 2019 until 2022 using the data collection method of total sampling. Sixty-seven patients met the inclusion criteria. Results: The analysis performed was univariate analysis. The results of this study found that most genders were male compared to girls, with a ratio of 3:1. The largest age group is preschool (3-6 years), at 76%. Screening for ACRS symptoms that received the most weight of 3, that is, it was always found was symptom number 1 at 54%. In the male sex, the ACRS symptom screening that gets the most value 3 is symptom number 1 by 56%. Meanwhile, in women, symptom number 6 is 53%.Keywords:  ADHD, Symptoms, Detection of ADHD, Screening ACRS.
