Abstract

The condition of Indonesia is currently being faced by the corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic 2019. The importance of solutions related to the existence of the role of teachers or educators to provide references such as social support to students in learning and teaching activities from home, this study conducted to provide research tools or instruments that can be used by educators or researchers by testing the validity of a social support construct (Social Provision Scale) measuring instrument using the Rasch Model. Although much has been done to test the validity of the Social Provision Scale, no one has examined it by involving social support in the context of Education. Likewise, the majority of research on social support uses confirmatory factor analysis, and no one has used the Rasch Model in validating the Social Provision Scale instrument, especially in Indonesia. The data used are secondary data from Putra of 326 people in SMA Negeri 29 South Jakarta using cluster sampling. The results of the application of the Rasch Rating Scale model show that the psychometric characteristics of the Social Provision Scale are very good and precise, as well as the compatibility of the items to the model. Implications and suggestions for future research are also discussed.

Abstract

This study aims to develop standard measurement tools from hedonistic behavior using the perspective of the Rasch measurement model. The evaluation of psychometric characteristics conducted in this study (1) to check unidimensionality, (2) testing local independence assumptions, (3) testing scale rating diagnostics, (4) testing item fit, (5) reliability for person and items, and (6) displays the wright map and test information function to compare people and items on the same scale and find out the functioning of the test when given to individuals with the level of trait obtained. The sample in this study were 335 hijab-wearing Muslim women. Rasch analysis results show that the psychometric characteristics obtained are very good and precise, as well as the suitability of the items to the model. With this, the measuring instrument developed by researchers was named the Female Hedonistic Behavior Scale (FHBQ) with 14 valid items from the Rasch rating scale model from the measurement model perspective.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop the Metacognitive Skills Assessment in a Research Proposal Writing Context (MSARPW), a multidimensional measure, based on student perspectives, for assessing metacognitive skills in thesis writing, and assess the instrument’s psychometric properties using item factor analysis (IFA) and multidimensional item response models. The 40-item MSARPW was administered to 602 Indonesian university students (Mage = 25.254 SDage = 6.854). The IFA showed that the two-dimensional factor structure of MSARPW was satisfactory; however, only 24 of the 40 items were found to fit the model. Multidimensional graded response models (MGRM) were applied to the subsequent 24-item MSARPW, which showed that one item (Item 4) did not satisfy the criteria. The estimated reliabilities of each subscale showed that the 23-item MSARPW has good internal consistency (0.891 and 0.902). To conclude, the 23-item MSARPW appears to be a valid and reliable tool for assessing metacognitive skills in the context of research-proposal writing among Indonesian university students.

Abstract

The transition from home to school is a crucial stage for early childhood, requiring independence skills, discipline, and the ability to follow instructions. Observations at Sejahtera Kindergarten in Bandung showed that the majority of children aged 3–6 still had difficulty following teacher directions and had not yet demonstrated independent behavior, largely influenced by habits at home. To address this, the community service team conducted a parenting seminar entitled "Providing Parents to Support Children's Independence: Preparing Children from Home to School." This activity used the Service Learning method with three stages: problem identification, activity preparation, and hybrid seminar implementation, involving 32 parents and 4 teachers. The material presented included morning routines that support independence, how to provide effective instructions, and strategies for training children to do activities independently. The results of the activity showed an increased understanding of parents regarding their role in shaping children's cognitive, social-emotional, and behavioral readiness. Active participant participation demonstrated that parent education-based interventions can be an effective strategy to facilitate children's transition to school. These findings emphasize the importance of consistent parental involvement at home as a key factor in children's successful adaptation to the school environment.

Abstract

________________________________________________________________________________________ The literacy level of high school students in Indonesia remains relatively low and has not demonstrated stable progress over recent years. National data indicate a decline in literacy scores during the 2021–2022 period across various educational groups, including religious schools, special needs schools, and general high schools. Although improvements were observed in the subsequent year, this condition highlights the urgent need for sustained efforts to enhance literacy at the senior high school level. This study aims to analyze the influence of school policy programs on substance abuse prevention and the sense of safety within schools on students’ literacy achievements. The data were drawn from the 2023 Education Report, involving 6,553 student respondents. The analysis employed multiple linear regression and mediation analysis using the JASP software. The findings reveal that school-based substance abuse prevention programs have a positive effect on students’ sense of safety at school. Furthermore, this sense of safety significantly mediates the relationship between the programs and students’ literacy outcomes (partial mediation; p < 0.001). Additionally, both variables simultaneously influence students’ literacy levels. These results emphasize the importance of fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment to enhance students’ literacy achievements. This study recommends the development of integrated policies that combine literacy promotion, mental health initiatives, and substance abuse prevention programs as part of broader efforts to establish a positive and conducive learning climate for all school community members. Keywords:  learning environment survey, literacy, sense of safety, substance abuse
