Abstract

Many experimental researches have been conducted until recent years to see the effect of mastery learning approach on students’ cognitive behavior and affective characteristics. But the question is how much evidence is there in the existing research results provides scientific conclusions by combining existing experimental results. By treating different experiments of mastery learning as research replications, the experimental results can be combined using a meta-analysis technique. This paper shows how a quantitative research synthesis can effectively be used to combine statistical evidences of researches conducted separately and independently. The effect of mastery learning on affective characteristics of students was selected for this research synthesis. The mastery learning approach to be investigated in this research synthesis is Bloom type of mastery learning strategy.Using 26 independent comparisons, the results of study show that: a) the effect sizes of mastery learning on affective chharacteristics of students are heterogeneous across studies, b) the source of study, either from dissertation or journal article, does not explain the variability among the effect sizes, c) mastery learning programs using a ≥ 75% mastery criterion seem to have positive affective impact on the students, while those using < 75 % mastery criterion have no impact on the affective characteristics of students, d) the mean effect size shows a decreasing trend as the level of education increases, e) the mean effect size is highly positive for mathematics class and low positive effect for science and social studies, and f) short treatment duration has a much larger positive effect size than the long term treatment duration.

Abstract

The condition of Indonesia is currently being faced by the corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic 2019. The importance of solutions related to the existence of the role of teachers or educators to provide references such as social support to students in learning and teaching activities from home, this study conducted to provide research tools or instruments that can be used by educators or researchers by testing the validity of a social support construct (Social Provision Scale) measuring instrument using the Rasch Model. Although much has been done to test the validity of the Social Provision Scale, no one has examined it by involving social support in the context of Education. Likewise, the majority of research on social support uses confirmatory factor analysis, and no one has used the Rasch Model in validating the Social Provision Scale instrument, especially in Indonesia. The data used are secondary data from Putra of 326 people in SMA Negeri 29 South Jakarta using cluster sampling. The results of the application of the Rasch Rating Scale model show that the psychometric characteristics of the Social Provision Scale are very good and precise, as well as the compatibility of the items to the model. Implications and suggestions for future research are also discussed.

Abstract

Sleep quality is an important factor in a person's physical and mental health. Noise, pain, light, and nursing activities are frequent causes of poor sleep quality in ICU patients. Nurses' knowledge is considered important in improving the quality of patient sleep, so health education is needed for ICU nurses in carrying out interventions to optimize the sleep quality of critical patients in the ICU. Eye masks, ear plugs and white noise are interventions to deal with noise and light in critical patients. This therapy aims to improve the quality of the patient's sleep. This health education is carried out to optimize the implementation of nursing care for patients in the ICU. Method: This community service method is carried out using a direct health education approach located in several hospitals in Bandung City which will be implemented during September 2024 with a total of 8 participants. The target of this health education is ICU nurses. All participants in the activity were given health education about optimizing the use of eye masks, ear plugs and white noise, the knowledge scale was measured before and after the intervention, qualitatively, the health education activities carried out ran smoothly without any obstacles, the health education carried out was able to increase the knowledge of ICU nurses significantly. with p value = 0.001. The results of this health education can increase ICU nurses' knowledge about the use of eye masks, ear plugs and white noise in improving the sleep quality of ICU patients.

Abstract

AbstractCurriculum reform plays an essential role in assuring the success of systematic educational change. The purpose of this study is to portray the government policy and the issues of the Curriculum 2013 implementation. This study employed qualitative methodology using document analysis, observation and Focused Group Discussion (FGD)   as data collection techniques. The results of this study show that the curricula philosophy of curriculum reform was well-articulated and relevant to meet the requirements of twenty-first century learning competencies. However, the curricula implementation process faced substantial challenges with technical problems regarding the national standards of education document, teacher training and competences, the availability of school textbooks, and classroom assessment implementation. The findings of this study have several implications for implementing the national curriculum in Indonesia. Therefore, alignment between the national standards of education document, the curriculum structure, and the assessment system is required in order to ensure the successful implementation of Curriculum 2013 throughout the nation.AbstrakReformasi kurikulum memainkan peran penting dalam memastikan keberhasilan perubahan pendidikan yang sistematis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan kebijakan pemerintah dan isu-isu implementasi Kurikulum 2013. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi kualitatif menggunakan analisis dokumen, observasi dan diskusi kelompok terpumpun sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa filosofi reformasi kurikulum diartikulasikan dengan baik dan relevan untuk memenuhi persyaratan kompetensi pembelajaran abad kedua puluh satu. Namun, proses implementasi kurikulum menghadapi tantangan besar dengan masalah teknis mengenai dokumen yang terkait dengan standar nasional pendidikan, pelatihan dan kompetensi guru, ketersediaan buku pelajaran di sekolah, dan implementasi penilaian di dalam kelas. Temuan penelitian ini memiliki beberapa implikasi untuk menerapkan kurikulum nasional di Indonesia. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan keselarasan antara dokumen standar nasional pendidikan, struktur kurikulum, dan sistem penilaian untuk memastikan keberhasilan implementasi Kurikulum 2013 di seluruh negara.

Abstract

Work engagement is a positive psychology construct widely sought after and developed in various countries. Psychometric validation requires statistical analysis to measure and differentiate individuals across different cultures. This study aims to validate the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-17 (UWES-17) instrument on hospitality workers in state-owned companies in Indonesia. The study sample comprised 1,638 individuals, representing various positions and types of hospitality service jobs within the land transportation sector of a state-owned enterprise. A non-probability sampling approach, specifically convenience sampling, was employed, selecting participants based on their accessibility and willingness to participate. The participants, aged between 18 and 62, came from diverse fields and work areas. Analysis of item responses in the test was the Rasch Model with a study focus on item fit and person fit from the UWES-17 Scale. In addition, assumption tests of unidimensionality and local independence were performed to ensure the validity of the measurement model. The scale’s reliability was also assessed to evaluate the instrument’s consistency. The results showed that the items were overall fit, but the criteria for person fit were unmet. This is due to the tendency for uniformity and too many diverse positions and cultural tendencies of state-owned companies. The implication is that further item development and confirmation are needed on the constituent aspects, especially the absorption constituent items. Additionally, developing a more consistent shorter version or discovering other dimensions of work engagement that are specific to collectivist societies may be possible.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Indonesian version of the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED) using Rasch model analysis. The SCARED instrument was translated and adapted through a systematic process involving forward translation, backward translation, and expert reviews in both linguistics and psychology. A pilot study was conducted with 51 junior high school students to assess the instrument's validity and reliability. The Rasch analysis revealed satisfactory psychometric properties with a person reliability of 0.91 and item reliability of 0.94, indicating high consistency in measurement. The separation indices (person = 3.14, item = 4.00) demonstrated the instrument's ability to differentiate between varying levels of anxiety among respondents and varying item difficulties. The item information function analysis showed that most items had good discriminating power, particularly at moderate anxiety levels. These findings suggest that the Indonesian version of SCARED is a valid and reliable instrument for screening anxiety disorders in Indonesian children and adolescents. Further studies with larger and more diverse samples are recommended to establish normative data and confirm the five-factor structure of the instrument across different age groups and cultural contexts.

Abstract

Kecemasan statistik merupakan secara signifikan mempengaruhi kinerja akademik, terutama di kalangan mahasiswa psikologi yang diharapkan dapat menguasai metode penelitian kuantitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi validitas dan keandalan instrumen untuk mengukur kecemasan statistik, berdasarkan skala Statistical Self-Efficacy for Psychologists (SES-Psy). Sebanyak 373 mahasiswa psikologi dari enam perguruan tinggi di Jabodetabek yang telah menyelesaikan mata kuliah  statistika dasar berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Proses adaptasi mengikuti pedoman Beaton dengan empat orang ahli yang menilai validasi konten. Data dikumpulkan secara online dan dianalisis menggunakan Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) dan model Rasch. Hasil CFA mengkonfirmasi beban faktor yang kuat dan indeks kesesuaian model yang sangat baik. Analisis Rasch memverifikasi bahwa instrumen tersebut memenuhi asumsi unidimensionalitas, independensi lokal, dan kesesuaian statistik. Semua kategori skala ditafsirkan dengan benar oleh responden dan tidak menunjukkan bias gender berdasarkan analisis DIF. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa instrumen yang diadaptasi secara psikometris valid untuk mengidentifikasi tingkat kecemasan statistik di kalangan mahasiswa psikologi di Indonesia. Dengan standard setting berbasis Rasch, diketahui bahwa mayoritas responden penelitian ini diklasifikasikan mengalami kecemasan statistik sedang hingga tinggi. Instrumen ini dapat digunakan pada lingkungan pendidikan maupun dimanfaatkan untuk pengembangan intervensi kecemasan statistik.
