Abstract

ABSTRACT The gelling agent component is a critical factor that can affect gel’s physical characteristics, such as organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, and viscosity. Starch is widely use as a filler and binder. The aim of the research was to analyze the effect of the formulation of salicylic acid gel using sago starch as a gelling agent on the physical characteristics of the gel. The research began with the extraction of sago starch, and gel formulations were prepared using starch as the gelling agent with variations in sago starch with F1 (6%), F2 (8%), and F3 (10%). The gels were evaluated for their physical properties, including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, and spreadability testing over a period of 12 weeks at a temperature of 28ºC±2ºC. The research showed that all gel formulations did not undergo changes in organoleptic and homogeneity. In the pH test, all preparations met the requirements. The spreadability test results indicated that all gels did not meet the requirements, while only gel F1 did not meet the adhesion test requirements. Abstract

Karang lunak bertahan hidup dengan mengeluarkan metabolit sekunder sebagai respon terhadap lingkungan. Metabolit sekunder ini diketahui memiliki aktivitas farmakologi salah satunya antioksidan. Senyawa antioksidan berperan melengkapi elektron radikal bebas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol Lobophytum sp. dan Sarcophyton sp.. Jenis penelitan ini merupakan eksperimental laboratorium dengan pengujian terhadap ekstrak etanol karang lunak Lobophytum sp. dan Sarcophyton sp. menggunakan metode DPPH (1-1-diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazyl). Aktivitas antioksidan ditentukan dengan nilai IC50. Dari hasil perhitungan IC50, didapatkan ekstrak karang lunak Lobophytum sp. 14.5732 mg/L dan Sarcopyhton sp. 24,3527 mg/L dan. Nilai IC50 dari Sarcophyton sp maupun Lobophytum sp. yang diperoleh dari Perairan Pantai Parentek Kabupaten Minahasa masuk kategori sangat kuat dengan nilai dibawah 50 mg/L.

Abstract

ABSTRACTSponges are one of the components that compose coral reef which have a potential bioactive substance that has not been utilized. This test attempts to to know the antibacterial compound activity of sponges Theonella swinhoei extracts against the bacterial growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Maceration method is used for this extraction using 95% ethanol as solvent. The antibacterial activity is tested using the disk diffusion agar method kirby-bauer. The results against Staphylococcus aureus is 12,99 mm, 12,98 mm and 12,28 mm. Escherichia coli is 11,83 mm, 11,79 mm and 11,53 mm. The results showed that the extract is effective in inhibiting the bacterias and categorized strong against both bacterias. Keywords: Theonella swinhoei, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Extraction, Antibacterial ABSTRAKSpons merupakan satu biota laut penyusun terumbu karang yang mempunyai potensi bioaktif yang belum banyak dimanfaatkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri dari ekstrak spons Theonellala swinhoei terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Eschercia coli dan Staphylococus aureus. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan adalah maserasi dengan menggunakan pelarut etanol 95%. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode disc diffusion kirby-bauer. Hasil yang didapat dari pengujian aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphyloccous aureus adalah 12,99 mm, 12,98 mm dan 12,28 mm dan Escherichia coli adalah sebesar 11,83 mm, 11,79 mm dan 11,53 mm.  Hasil uji menunjukan bahwa ekstrak tergolong kuat dalam aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri uji. Kata Kunci: Theonella swinhoei, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Ekstraksi, Antibakteri

Abstract

ABSTRACTSponges are multicellular metazoan animals belonging to the phylum Porifera. Sponges have antibacterial, anticancer and anti-parasitic activity. The purpose of this study was to determine whether Stylissa carteri sponge obtained from the waters of Manado Bay have the potential of antibacterial activity against Staphyloccous aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The extraction method used is maceration using 95% ethanol as solvent and the fractionation method used is liquid-liquid fractionation. Testing of antibacterial activity using disk diffusion agar method (kirby-bauer). The results obtained from the antibacterial activity test against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, the methanol fraction obtained an average yield of 10.21 mm, and the n-hexane fraction obtained an average yield of 6.93 mm. Against Escherichia coli bacteria, the methanol fraction obtained an average yield of 7.96 mm and the n-hexane fraction averaged 8.62 mm, while the ethanol extract and chloroform fraction did not shown antibacterial activity against the two test bacteria. The methanol fraction had strong inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus and moderate inhibition against Escherichia coli, while the n-hexane fraction had moderate inhibition against the two test bacteria.                                                                                               Keywords: Stylissa carteri, antibacterial, Staphylococcous aureus, Escherichia coli.  ABSTRAKSpons merupakan hewan metazoa multiseluler yang tergolong dalam filum porifera. Spons  memiliki aktivitas antibakteri, anti kanker dan anti parasit. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah spons Stylissa carteri yang diperoleh dari perairan Teluk Manado memiliki potensi aktivitasi antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphyloccous aureus dan Escherichia coli. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan adalah maserasi dengan menggunakan pelarut etanol 95% dan metode fraksinasi yang digunakan yaitu fraksinasi cair-cair. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi agar (disc diffusion kirby). Hasil yang didapat dari pengujian aktivitas antibakteri terhadap bakteri Staphyloccous aureus, fraksi metanol mendapatkan hasil rata-rata 10,21 mm, dan pada fraksi n-hexan hasil rata-rata 6,93 mm. Pada bakteri Escherichia coli, fraksi metanol mendapatkan hasil rata-rata 7,96 mm dan pada fraksi n-hexan hasil rata-rata 8,62 mm, sedangkan ekstrak etanol dan fraksi kloroform tidak memiliki aktivitas antibakteri pada kedua bakteri uji. Fraksi metanol memiliki daya hambat kuat terhadap bakteri Staphyloccous aureus dan daya hambat sedang pada bakteri Escherichia coli, sementara fraksi n hexan memiliki daya hambat sedang terhadap kedua bakteri uji. KataKunci:Stylissa carteri, antibakteri, Staphylococcous aureus, Escherichia coli

Abstract

ABSTRAKBawang Hutan (Eleutherine americana) digunakan oleh masyarakat setempat terutama bagian umbinya untuk mengobati penyakit kanker. Pinang Yaki (Areca vestiaria) digunakan oleh masyarakat sebagai bahan obat tradisional, biasanya untuk menyembuhkan penyakit seperti diare dan diabetes. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran makroskopis kombinasi ekstrak bawang hutan (E. americana) dan pinang yaki (A. vestiaria) terhadap organ hati dan perubahan berat badan yang terjadi pada tikus putih jantan galur wistar (Rattus norvegicus). Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan hewan percobaan tikus putih berjumlah 15 ekor, ekstrasi dilakukan dengan maserasi menggunakan etanol 70%, perlakuan dilakukan selama 14 hari, kemudian dilakukan pembedahan.Gambaran makroskopis dari organ hati tikus putih berwarna merah kecoklatan, pada berat badan ditimbang sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan.Peneltian menunjukan bahwa dengan pemberian kombinasi ekstrak bawang hutan dan pinang yaki tidak memberikan perubahan yang signifikan terhadap gambaran makroskopis organ hati dan mengalami penurunan berat badan pada tikus putih.Kata Kunci: Bawang Hutan (Eleutherine americana), Pinang Yaki (Areca vestiaria), makroskopis hati, tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus)ABSTRACTForest Onion (Eleutherine americana) is used by local people especially the tuber to treat cancer. Crownshaft Palm Nut (Areca vestiaria) is used by the community as an ingredient in traditional medicine, usually to cure diseases such as diarrhea and diabetes. The purpose of this study was to determine the macroscopic description of the combination of extract of onion forest (E. americana) and Crownshaft Palm Nut (A. vestiaria) on the liver and change in body weight that occurred in male white rats wistar strain (Rattus norvegicus). This research was conducted using 15 white rats, extraction was carried out by maceration using 70% ethanol, treatment was carried out for 14 days, then surgery. Macroscopic Image of the liver of white rats brownish red, the body weight was weighed before and after treatment. Research shows that the combination of forest onion and crownshaft palm nut extracts did not give a significant change to the macroscopic appearance of the liver and decreased body weight in white rats.Keyword: Forest Onion (Eleutherine americana), Crownshaft Palm Nut (Areca vestiaria), macroscopic liver, white rat (Rattus norvegicus)

Abstract

ABSTRAKBawang Hutan (Eleutherine americana Merr) digunakan oleh masyarakat sangihe sebagai obat untuk mengobati kanker. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan skrining fitokimia, parameter spesifik dan non spesifik ekstrak umbi bawang hutan (Eleutherine americana Merr) yang mencakup penetapan parameter spesifik (uji identifikasi ekstrak, uji organoleptik dan senyawa yang larut dalam alkohol), parameter non spesifik (Susut pengeringan, Kadar air dan kadar abu). Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental laboratorium. Awalnya sampel umbi bawang hutan diekstraksi maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 95% kemudian dievaporasi hingga didapatkan ekstrak kental. Hasil ekstrak umbi bawang hutan menghasilkan kandungan kimia flavonoid, alkaloid, glikosida, saponin, tanin, dan triterpenoid, ekstrak etanol umbi bawang hutan (Eleutherine americana Merr) berbentuk kental, berwarna merah pekat, bau seperti gula aren, kadar senyawa larut etanol 40,7%, Penetapan susut pengeringan 0,79%, kadar air yang diperoleh 0,616%, kadar abu yang diperoleh 0,684%. Kata kunci: Umbi bawang hutan, skrining fitokimia, parameter spesifik dan non spesifik.  ABSTRACTForest onion (Eleutherine americana Merr) used by society of sangihe as a medicine for cancer. This research aimed to determined phytochemical screening, determination of specific and non-specific parameters forest onion extract that encompass determination of specific parameter (extract identificafion test, organoleptic test and compound that dissolve in alcohol test), non-specific parameters (drying shrinkage, concentration of water and ash content). This research methods is experimental laboratorium. Initially, the sample of forest onion bulbs was extracted by maceration with 95% ethanol solvent and then evaporated to obtain a thick extract. The results of the extract of forest onion bulbs produce chemical content of flavonoids, alkaloids, glycosides, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids, ethanol extract of forest onion bulbs (Eleutherine americana Merr) is thick, dark red in color, smells like palm sugar, the content of ethanol soluble compounds is 40.7%, the determination of drying shrinkage is 0.79%, the water content obtained is 0.616%, and the ash content obtained is 0.684%. Keywords: Forest onion, phytochemical screening, specific and non-specific parameters

Abstract

ABSTRACTSea sponges have enormous bioactive potential. The research was to identify the antioxidant and ethanol sponge ethanol Stylissa carteri collected from the mando bay. The study is an experimental laboratory that will test the antioxidant activity of collected Stylissa carteri sponge extract from manado bay. The findings suggest the antioxidant activity of the Stylissa carteri sponge obtained from manado bay has antioxidant activity and the higher the concentration of it increases. The most high antioxidant activity found on the Stylissa carteri spong with a concentration of 25 ppm. Keywords: Antioxidant, DPPH, Stylissa carteri, Manado Bay  ABSTRAKSpons laut memliki potensi bioaktif yang sangat besar. Penelitian ini merupakan eksperimental laboratorium yang akan menguji aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak spons Stylissa carteri yang dikoleksi dari teluk Manado. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan aktivitas antioksidan dari spons Stylissa carteri yang diperoleh dari Teluk Manado memiliki aktivitas antioksidan dan semakin tinggi konsentrasi semakin tinggi pula kadar antioksidan yang dihasilkan. Aktivitas antioksidan yang paling tinggi terdapat pada Spons Stylissa carteri dengan konsentrasi 25 ppm. Kata Kunci : Antioksidan, DPPH, Stylissa carteri, Teluk Manado

Abstract

The chemical substances contained in the extracts of natural ingredients must be maintained in quality, so standardization is required. This study aims to prove that ethanol extract of Areca yaki Fruit (Areca Vestiaria) meets the non- specific parameters on the standardization of natural ingredients extract. Ethanol extract of Areca Yaki Fruit  is extracted using maceration method. The extracts obtained were tested for several non-specific parameters including desiccant shrinkage, moisture content, total ash content and acid insoluble ash content. The test results are compared with the standard parameters. Areca Yaki Fruit ethanol extract has a drying shrinkage of 0.027%, moisture content of 0.5242%, total ash content of 0.712% and 0.883%, and insoluble acid ash content of 0.048% and 0.056%. Areca Yaki Fruit ethanol extract meets the standard parameters, desiccant shrinkage, moisture content, total ash content, and insoluble acid ash content.

Abstract

WIRANATIKA SANGKOY. Antibacterial Activity of Ethanol Extract of Areca Vestiaria Leaves (Areca vestiaria) against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. Under the guidance of HERNY EI SIMBALA as a leader and ERLADYS RUMONDOR as a member.One of the native plants of Indonesia that is widespread in several areas in Indonesia that has the potential to be developed in research testing antibacterial activity is the areca yaki leaf plant. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of areca yaki (Areca vestiaria) leaves against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa at concentrations of 20%, 40%, and 60%. This research was conducted using the Kirby-Bauer method. From the results of this study, the data obtained that concentrations of 20%, 40%, and 60% of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria are concentrations that are included in the moderate group, while Pseudomonas aeruginosa at a concentration of 20% is included in the strong group and 40% and 60% are only included in the moderate group.
