Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Agro-Eco-Edu-Tourism Program in the Teaching Factory (TeFa) model, a collaborative effort between vocational high schools and tourism destination managers in Batu City, aimed at integrating sustainability into tourism education and practice. A qualitative multi-site case study design was employed, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation from a public and a private vocational high school, both offering hospitality and tourism programs. Informants included school principals, teachers, students, and tourism managers. Findings indicate that the program successfully integrates eco-friendly practices into tourism operations through organic farming, eco-guided tours, the use of local products in hospitality services, and renewable energy adoption. These initiatives have enhanced tourism destinations by attracting eco-conscious visitors and promoting regional sustainability. For students, the program provided practical skills, real-world industry exposure, increased employability, and expanded professional networks. The results highlight the potential of school-industry collaboration to foster innovation in sustainable tourism education. Key challenges identified include the need for better coordination among stakeholders, deeper community involvement, and the integration of advanced eco-tourism technologies. The Agro-Eco-Edu-Tourism Program demonstrates an effective model for merging educational outcomes with sustainable tourism development. Strengthening stakeholder collaboration and securing long-term funding are recommended to enhance program sustainability.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the impact of irrigation in addressing water scarcity, improving productivity, and increasing farmers' income in Klepek Village, Sukosewu Subdistrict, Bojonegoro Regency. Agriculture productivity is influenced by factors such as the efficient use of resources such as water. The availability of irrigation water is crucial to enhance agricultural productivity. Water scarcity can hinder plant growth, reduce crop yields, and negatively impact farmers' economies. Farmers faced serious challenges regarding water availability for agriculture in Klepek Village. In this study, the researcher conducted interviews, observations, and collected data to describe and analyze the impact of irrigation on addressing water scarcity, improving productivity, and increasing farmers' income in Klepek Village, Sukosewu Subdistrict, Bojonegoro Regency. A SWOT analysis was used to set an effective strategy of water management in order to improve the irrigation system. The sample reserach consisted of 30 respondents. A SWOT analysis indicate the position of quadrant I. It implies an aggressive strategy: improving famers skills in both, technical abilities and management skills. The results of the research indicate that irrigation has successfully become an effective solution to address water scarcity, leading to increased agricultural productivity and crop diversification.

Abstract

Shrimp aquaculture generates wastewater that may affect coastal ecosystem quality if not properly managed. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between shrimp pond effluent quality and macrozoobenthos diversity as an indicator of habitat suitability in the coastal waters of Situbondo, Indonesia. Wastewater samples were collected from pond outlet wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) in triplicate and analyzed for physicochemical parameters, including phosphate (PO₄), ammonia (NH₃), total suspended solids (TSS), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and pH. Macrozoobenthos samples were collected at three distances from the discharge point and analyzed using the Shannon–Wiener diversity index (H'). Data were further analyzed using multiple linear regression and Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) to evaluate the relationship between environmental variables and macrozoobenthos diversity. The results showed that PO₄ concentrations at all stations exceeded the environmental quality standard (0.5 mg/L), while NH₃ concentrations exceeded the standard (5 mg/L) at four stations. TSS levels also exceeded the permitted threshold (100 mg/L) at several stations, whereas BOD and pH remained within acceptable limits. The macrozoobenthos diversity index indicated moderate diversity at stations 1 and 2 (H' ≈ 2), suggesting moderate environmental stress, while stations 3, 4, and 5 showed low diversity (H' < 1), indicating polluted conditions. Regression analysis indicated that nutrient and suspended solid parameters negatively influenced macrozoobenthos diversity, with PO₄ and NH₃ showing the strongest effects. The findings demonstrate that shrimp pond effluent can alter benthic community structure and confirm that macrozoobenthos are effective bioindicators for assessing ecological impacts in coastal ecosystems.

Abstract

Generasi muda di Indonesia belum memiliki pola makan yang seimbang, terutama dalam hal konsumsi sayur ataupun produk nabati lain dengan manfaat serupa. Salah satu elemen masyarakat muda, yakni santri merupakan target strategis edukasi mengenai manfaat kesehatan produk fermentasi nabati. Produk fermentasi nabati, seperti kimchi, sauerkraut, bekasam jamur, dan acar timun, mengandung probiotik, vitamin, dan senyawa bioaktif yang berperan dalam menjaga kesehatan pencernaan, memperkuat sistem imun, dan mendukung metabolisme tubuh. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan efektivitas edukasi manfaat kesehatan produk fermentasi nabati, lewat kombinasi pemaparan materi ilmiah dengan praktik langsung pembuatan produk. Metode presentasi interaktif dan demonstrasi praktik langsung digunakan dalam proses edukasi, sedangkan dalam mengevaluasi peningkatan pengetahuan santri, digunakan metode kuesioner pre dan post test yang harus dijawab santri sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Nilai hasil kuesioner kemudian diujikan dalam uji normalitas dan Wilcoxon signed-rank test untuk mengetahui adanya signifikansi peningkatan skor pengetahuan. Hasil kuesioner berbasis pre-test dan post-test pada 29 santri menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan skor pengetahuan dari 26,55% menjadi 82,76% (p<0,05). Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa edukasi berbasis teori dan praktik efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan akan manfaat kesehatan produk fermentasi nabati serta berpotensi menjadi landasan pengembangan modul edukasi yang dapat diimplementasikan secara luas di masyarakat.

Abstract

Road infrastructure development plays a crucial role in improving regional connectivity and economic growth; however, its implementation continues to rely predominantly on conventional gray infrastructure that often neglects ecological sustainability. Although previous studies have extensively examined green infrastructure from engineering and environmental perspectives, limited attention has been given to the educational processes through which ecological character can be developed among infrastructure stakeholders. This study investigates how ecological character education can strengthen environmentally responsible road infrastructure planning. Specifically, it aims to (1) examine the educational dimensions of ecological character among stakeholders involved in road development, (2) identify the internal and external factors influencing ecological character development, and (3) formulate education-based strategies using SWOT analysis. A descriptive-analytical mixed-methods case study was conducted along the Kepanjen–Pagak Road Section, Malang Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected through interviews, field observations, questionnaires, and document analysis involving government officials, planning consultants, academics, infrastructure practitioners, and community representatives selected through purposive sampling. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically, while quantitative data were examined using the Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS), External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS), SWOT, and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). The findings reveal that ecological character development is shaped by ecological literacy, environmental values, institutional commitment, stakeholder collaboration, and participatory planning, but remains constrained by conventional gray infrastructure practices, weak inter-agency coordination, and limited environmental integration in planning. The IFAS score of 2.72 and EFAS score of 2.82 positioned the study in Quadrant I, indicating strong internal capacity and favorable external opportunities to implement proactive education-oriented strategies. QSPM analysis further identified the Strength–Opportunity (SO) strategy as the highest-priority alternative for integrating ecological character into sustainable road governance. This study contributes to the literature by extending ecological character education beyond formal educational settings into infrastructure governance and professional practice. It also proposes an education-based strategic framework that supports stakeholder capacity building, sustainability competencies, and environmentally responsible infrastructure planning within the broader context of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
