Abstract

Linguistic phenomena that cause problems for foreign language learners cannot be separated from the inherent characteristics of each source language and target language, especially for some of the elements of both which are different from one another. This study aims to reveal several forms of phonological intervention in Arabic against Indonesian or vice versa as well as a model of changing the phonetic level between the two. The methodology in this research is library research. Sources of data come from several literatures that are closely related to the topic obtained through documentation techniques, which are then analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. The findings of this study are that the level of intervention of Indonesian sounds into Arabic is found in the eight forms of speech sounds that change. In contrast, the Intervention of Arabic into Indonesian is found in nine forms of speech.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Arabic-Indonesian translation in Islamic boarding schools is considered commonplace, this is often done in the middle of the learning process of Turath Book (classic books) which still adhere to the principle of word-for-word translation or literal translation. This study aims to determine the level of influence of cooperative learning strategies on students' ability to translate text from Arabic into Indonesian at the Mambaus Sholihin Islamic Boarding School. This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental type of methodology. The number of samples is 40 students determined through the saturated sample technique. The data in this study were obtained through observation, testing and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, to test the hypothesis in this study, researchers used a paired sample test with the SPSS formula. The results of this study are that cooperative learning strategies influence improving students' ability to translate texts from Arabic into Indonesian. This is indicated by sample testing combined with a Sig.-2Sig score of 0.00 <0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis is accepted, and null hypothesis is rejected. The level of influence of the cooperative learning strategy is 0.21 (very large) based on the Cohens formula.

Abstract

Filsafat sering kali diartikulasikan sebuah pemikiran yang mendalam, dan tanpa disadari pemikiran tersebut tidak dapat tersampaikan dan dipahami oleh orang lain tanpa bahasa. Begitu juga tanpa adanya pemikiran, bahasa tidak akan mengalami perkembangan hingga saat ini. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap keterkaitan antara filsafat dan bahasa, serta mengekplorasi konsep bahasa dalam paradigma filsafat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis kajian kepustakaan. Sumber data didapat melalui berbagai literatur yang relevan dengan teknik dokumentasi dan arsip. Adapaun analisisnya menggunakan teknik analisis interaktif Miles dan Huberman. Hasil Penelitian ini adalah: 1) Bahasa sebagai sarana bagi filsafat untuk alat kominikasi verbal yang dipakai dalam seluruh proses berfikir ilmiah, dan bahasa sendiri dapat menjadi objek kajian filsafat sebagai sebuah pengetahuan (ilmu) yang kemudian melahirkan filsafat bahasa; 2) Terdapat empat konsep bahasa dalam tinjauan paradigma filsafat yang erat kaitanya dengan ilmu bahasa, diantaranya: paradigma linguistik tradisional, paradigma linguistik struktural, paradigma lingusitik fungsional dan paradigma linguistik transformatif generatif.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at the Mamba’us Sholihin School through the implementation of the "Picture Viewing" strategy. The research employs a classroom action research methodology, structured in two cycles to assess the effectiveness of the intervention. The sample consists of seventh-grade students, with data collected through observations, interviews, and tests to evaluate their speaking abilities before and after the application of the new strategy. The findings indicate a significant enhancement in student performance following the implementation of the Picture Viewing strategy. In the first cycle, the results were unsatisfactory, with a majority of students struggling with their speaking skills. However, after applying the new strategy in the second cycle, there was a marked improvement, as evidenced by an increase in the number of students achieving grades of "A" and "B." The study recommends the adoption of innovative teaching strategies in the instruction of Arabic language skills, particularly speaking, to foster increased student engagement and motivation. It also suggests that teachers create a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to express their ideas confidently. In conclusion, the research underscores the importance of collaboration between teachers and students, utilizing educational methods that cater to their needs, ultimately leading to improved learning outcomes and enhanced communication skills. The continuous improvement in speaking proficiency relies on adapting to student requirements, facilitating their effective expression in the language.

Abstract

This research aims to provide a perspective regarding several Arabic language learning curricula and the unique characteristics of it as well as patterns of use in designing Arabic language learning to non-native speakers. Researchers used a qualitative approach with a type of literature study. The data in this research comes from several books and scientific journals related to the topic, and the data is then analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques. The results of this research are: 1) In the context of Arabic language learning, there are four types of curriculum that are frequently used in the process of teaching and learning Arabic to non-native speakers, namely; Grammatical Syllabus, Situational Syllabus, Notional Syllabus, and Multidimensional Syllabus. 2) That each type of curriculum plays an important role in the success of the Arabic language teaching and learning program in accordance with the desired objectives and perspectives, and all four have their respective strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, teachers must pay more attention to each characteristics before determining the type of curriculum they will use.

Abstract

Al-Musthofawiyah senior high school is a private Islamic education institution located in Palang-Tuban. This institution pays attention to the Arabic grammar of science which among them are the grammar of Nahwu. However, Nahwu's grammar of learning were still considered quite difficult to be understood. Media is very instrumental in supporting the language skills of students in institutions and schools, because media is an important element that can affect the learning activeness of students. In this article the author conducted a study that aims to determine the effectiveness of the use of the media "Nahwu Mapping" in the learning of nahwu grammar in this school. Abstract

This research is under the topic “Application of the Selective Methods to Acquire Arabic Vocabulary among Eighth Grade Students in Middle School at Hidayatul Umma Gresik. The focus of this research is on how to acquire Arabic vocabulary through a selective method. Hence, the researcher suggested that acquiring Arabic vocabulary by applying the selective method is an important matter to encourage the professor and students to pay more attention to applying the Arabic language with their vocabulary. The approach used in this research is the qualitative approach with the type of case study research. The aim of this research is to obtain descriptive data through interviews, observation, and documents on the application of the selective method to acquire Arabic vocabulary among eighth-grade students in Hidayatul Ummah Gresik. Among the most important results obtained by the researcher are: The researcher found shapes in vocabulary acquisition. There are different types of students’ ability to acquire their vocabulary during the process of teaching and learning the Arabic language, and for this reason the school encourages strong enthusiasm to make the students love Arabic.
