Abstract

Learning media are an essential element in the learning process. Innovative learning certainly has a significant impact on students' interest and motivation in learning. This study aims to determine the feasibility of producing leaflets of plants used in religious traditions as learning media on plantae in Class X Senior High School (SMA Negeri) 2 Kendari. This study is descriptive. Data collection was conducted using validation instruments. Four validators carried out validation. Two validators were lecturers from the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Science, while the other two were biology teachers at SMA Negeri 2 Kendari. Data on the feasibility of leaflet teaching materials on plant material is declared "feasible" to be used as teaching materials in the learning process.

Abstract

An encyclopedia is a scholarly work that contains a detailed summary and discussion of materials. This particular encyclopedia integrates images and textual content, and it is intended for use at the high school level (MA/SMA Class X) in the study of Mangrove Forest Ecosystems. This research aims to explore the utilization of encyclopedias in high schools for teaching Mangrove Forest Ecosystem materials, with the objective of enhancing the teaching and learning process and evaluating the suitability of such encyclopedic materials. The research is conducted using a 4-D model, which includes phases of defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The research findings demonstrate the significant utility of encyclopedias for both teachers and students, particularly in light of their underutilization in schools. The presence of these encyclopedias not only eases the workload of teachers but also enriches the teaching and learning process with up-to-date content. Furthermor, the evaluation of the encyclopedia teaching materials, conducted by subject matter experts and media specialists, deems them 'feasible' with approval rates of 95.83% and 97.91% respectively.

Abstract

This classroom action research aims to determine the application of the picture and picture type cooperative learning model and examine the use of the model in improving science learning outcomes in one of the elementary schools in East Kabaena, Southeast Sulawesi. The results of quantitative and qualitative data analysis show that the form of learning the picture and picture model in this school is carried out by utilizing images in which there are activities to install or sort images into a logical sequence. The activity of teachers and students in learning has shown a good improvement from cycle to cycle. Teachers find it easier to manage classes and focus students on the learning process, while students are more enthusiastic about learning, confident in asking questions and doing percentages in front of the class. The application of picture and picture type cooperative learning models is proven to help students in improving learning outcomes. Keywords:  Picture and picture model learning, cooperative learning, learning outcome of science

Abstract

This article aims to identify the strategies of environmental management at an Adiwiyata school in South East Sulawesi, Indonesia. Data in this case study was gathered through interview, observation, and artefacts. Data analysis indicates that the school has its own strategy in gaining the status of Adiwiyata school. The school designed short, middle, and long-term plan for the implementation of participative-based activity for school environmental management. The best practices at school include programs such as Friday in faith, Saturday cleaning, self-development, extracurricular and innovative work for students in terms of educational management. The school also invited parents and companies to get involved in participative-teaching program dealing with innovative activities and entrepreneurship. This study suggests schools to implement best practice-based strategy by encouraging active participation of both school community and stakeholders in school environmental management.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the planning, implementation, and evaluation of implementing Islamic education curriculum development at integrated Islamic schools in Southeast Sulawesi. The method used in this study is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation; data is processed using data reduction, display, and verification. Data checking techniques use triangulation techniques, discussions with colleagues, and extending time in the field. The results show that the planning of the Islamic education program at integrated Islamic schools in Southeast Sulawesi is prepared at the beginning of each academic year and has been well implemented as an annual, semester, weekly, daily, enrichment, and remedial program. The curriculum implementation is carried out variably between the 2013 and independent learning curricula. Implementing the Islamic education curriculum in the classroom involves elements of educators, students, learning resources, and other supporting facilities and infrastructure. All subjects and all school activities are inseparable from the framework of Islamic teaching values. The excellence in implementing the Islamic education curriculum lies in additional activities such as Muhayyan, programmed sunnah fasting, memorization of six chosen surahs, and blessed Friday movements. The implementation of the Islamic Education curriculum can be evaluated by looking at four aspects: objectives, strategies, lesson content, and evaluation activities. Learning evaluation as a curriculum is implemented through formative, summative, and summative, with assessment targets covering cognitive, attitudinal, and skill domains.

Abstract

Abstract Environmental education programs in faith-based schools have predominantly focused on measurable outcomes and behavioral impacts, overlooking the critical role of leadership in cultivating sustainable environmental culture. This study examines how spiritual leadership influences the internalization of environmental values within Islamic educational institutions. Using a qualitative multiple-case study approach, this research investigates the mechanisms of integration of environmental ethics across seven eco-certified madrasahs in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with forty-two informants comprising school leaders, teachers, and students, complemented by document analysis and participatory observation. The study draws on Lickona’s character education theory to examine the moral and spiritual dimensions of environmental leadership. Three critical mechanisms emerged. First, spiritual leaders catalyze voluntary environmental stewardship by modeling eco-conscious behaviors rooted in Islamic teachings, creating authentic commitment rather than compliance. Second, systematic cultivation of environmental care culture transforms isolated activities into sustained institutional practices through ritualized habits and shared values. Third, curricular integration strengthens ecological consciousness by embedding faith-based environmental ethics across subject areas. This study demonstrates how spiritual leadership frameworks effectively advance environmental education beyond instrumental approaches. The findings offer practical implications for reconceptualizing environmental programs as integral character formation in school curricula and certification frameworks, developing professional development programs cultivating spiritual-ecological leadership competencies, and designing implementation models prioritizing cultural embedding through ritualized practices, offering transferable insights for sustainable education policy in diverse cultural contexts.

Abstract

Learning difficulties in mathematics, particularly in solid geometry, remain common in primary schools and can hinder learning mastery. This study aimed to describe the profile of fifth-grade students’ learning difficulties in solid geometry at SD Negeri 22 Kendari. A qualitative descriptive design supported by descriptive statistics was employed. Data were collected through a story-based diagnostic test, classroom observation, teacher and student interviews, and documentation. The participants consisted of 30 students, with in-depth analysis focusing on 21 students who did not meet the mastery criterion. The findings indicate that the most prominent difficulties were conceptual, including distinguishing solid figures, understanding geometric elements, and using measurement units accurately. Principle-related difficulties appeared in selecting and applying surface area and volume formulas according to problem contexts, especially when linking given information to formula variables. Procedural difficulties involved arithmetic errors, incomplete solution steps, and low computational accuracy. These results highlight the importance of diagnostic assessment and instruction that prioritizes conceptual understanding, relationships among geometric elements, and systematic problem-solving strategies to inform targeted remedial support.
