Abstract

Education is a fundamental pillar in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and Thailand, as a Southeast Asian nation, demonstrates its commitment to these goals by starting within formal institutions like schools, guided by national strategies. This community service research aims to assess Thai students' understanding of SDG concepts, identify barriers to comprehensive learning, and propose strategies for sustainable implementation of SDGs in schools. Using a mixed-method approach that includes phenomenology, causal loop diagrams, and fishbone analysis, the research highlights key findings: participatory and contextual educational interventions effectively enhance students' SDG awareness and engagement, while interconnected challenges, such as limited discussions in schools, insufficient teacher training, and inadequate access to information and educational resources, hinder progress. To address these issues, the study recommends improving teacher training and enhancing access to high-quality educational materials as critical strategies to break the cycle of unawareness among students in Yala, Thailand. The overarching conclusion underscores that participatory and contextual education, supported by strong teacher capacity and resource availability, is essential for sustainable success in embedding SDG concepts within formal education.

Abstract

Islam forbids wasteful behavior in all activities, yet Indonesia, with the world's largest Muslim population, is the second largest contributor to food loss and waste, with household consumption being the largest contributor. This study examines the factors influencing tabzir (food waste) behavior in Indonesian Muslim households and their relationship with religiosity in reducing tabzir behavior. The method used was a survey of 529 Muslim household respondents, and data analysis was performed using the structural equation modeling–partial least squares (SEM-PLS) approach. The results showed that routine shopping and eating habits had a positive impact on food waste; the worse the shopping behavior and eating habits, the more food wasted. On the other hand, awareness, religiosity, religious norms, and knowledge negatively influence food waste. Thus, the better the level of awareness, knowledge, religiosity, and religious norms, the less food is wasted. While awareness, knowledge, religiosity, and religious norms can help lessen food waste, they are insufficient without regulations on unethical consumption.

Abstract

Islam forbids tabzir (wasteful behavior) concerning food and all activities. However, Indonesia, which has a Muslim-majority population, is among the countries with the highest levels of food loss and waste globally. Food waste has a detrimental impact on the environment, economy, human health, and food security, hindering the achievement of the SDGs. This study aims to examine Muslim households' consumption patterns and identify food waste prevention strategies. A qualitative SWOT-ANP technique was applied using nine respondents, including experts, academics, and practitioners. The findings suggest that households, from an internal perspective, should prioritize sharing surplus food with those in need, as well as adopting thoughtful shopping and cooking habits, avoiding the tendency to over-purchase or over-prepare food. Three external strategies were identified: (1) campaigns by governments, agencies, and communities to raise awareness of food waste's negative effects; (2) education on proper food processing, storage, and management; (3) policies regulating food waste prevention and management. Ultimately, preventing food waste behavior requires the collaboration of all parties, including the government, religious authorities, communities, and households.

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim consumer, COVID-19 contributed to the rapidly growing percentage of Internet users and online shopping as well as the availability of an easy-to-access e-commerce platform that encourages user consumption. The act of consumers spontaneously purchasing products without consideration is known as impulsive buying behavior, even though Islam forbids excessive consumption and waste. As no policy governs consumption, this study is critical in providing a reference for policymakers. This study investigates the factors that influence Muslim consumers' impulsive purchasing behavior when shopping on an e-commerce platform. The findings indicated a significant relationship between religiosity and attitudes. While attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control impact impulse buying intentions, intentions significantly influence impulsive buying behavior. To prevent impulsive buying behavior, the government and NGOs must be involved in outreach and education to prevent impulsive buying behavior.

Abstract

Waqf today is much easier because of the presence of technology, especially cash waqfs. Cash waqf-linked sukuk is one of the instruments provided to make it easier for donors to donate. SWR004 purchases achieved the highest sales volume of Rp112.563 billion in 2023, compared to SWR003 of Rp38.25 billion in 2022. Online sales of retail cash waqf linked to Sukuk demonstrated favorable performance at IDR24,128, with the highest number of waqifs at 618 waqifs. However, a decline in online CWLS Retail bookings has been observed both in terms of nominal bookings and the number of waqifs. This study aims to analyze the intention of the Y and Z generations to purchase cash waqf-linked sukuk retail, utilizing the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) approach and additional waqf literacy variables. This study employed quantitative methods with primary data and involved 200 respondents. Sampling was conducted using the nonprobability sampling method with the convenience sampling technique and analyzed with Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Squares. The results indicate that waqf literacy, perceived usefulness, and trust in BWI and waqf institutions have a significant positive effect on the intention to purchase retail CWLS. Trust variables can mediate perceived transparency and intention to purchase retail CWLS.
