Abstract

Penelitian tentang Etnobotani tanaman bermanfaat di Desa Manggaraya kecamatan Tanjung lago kabupaten Banyuasin Sumatera Selatan dilakukan pada bulan Mei - Juni 2021. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis tanaman, dan  bagian-bagian tanaman yang dimanfaatkan sesuai kebutuhan masyarakat di Desa Manggaraya.. Metode penelitian menggunakan survei eksploratif dengan metode kualitatif untuk menginventarisasai jenis-jenis tumbuhan serta pemanfaatannya oleh masyarakat. Metode ini didukung dengan pendekatan RRA (Rapid Rural Apprasial), dengan teknik sampling menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Sampel responden sebanyak 25 orang adalah masyarakat yang dianggap paling tahu tentang pemanfaatan tanaman yang ada didesa Manggaraya. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan di desa Manggaraya diperoleh 38 spesies dari 21 famili terdiri dari  tanaman pangan jenis tanaman serealea 3 spesies, umbi-umbian 3 spesies, tanaman hortikultura tanaman sayuran 6 spesies, tanaman buah-buahan 8 spesies, tanaman hias 9 spesies, tanaman rempah-rempah (obat) 5 spesies, jenis tanaman palma 4 spesies, dan jenis tanaman pohon 1 spesies, Bagian tanaman yang dimanfatkan daun, bunga, buah, biji, umbi, rimpang.Research on the ethnobotany of beneficial plants in Manggaraya Village, Tanjung Lago sub-district, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra was carried out in May - June 2021. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of plants, and plant parts used according to the needs of the community in Manggaraya Village. The research method uses an exploratory survey with a qualitative method to make an inventory of plant species and their use by the community. This method is supported by the RRA (Rapid Rural Apprasial) approach, with a sampling technique using a purposive sampling technique. The data collected were analyzed descriptively. The sample of respondents as many as 25 people are people who are considered to know the most about the use of plants in the village of Manggaraya. The results of the research conducted in Manggaraya village obtained 38 species plants from 21 families consisting of 3 species of food crops, cereals, 3 species of tubers, 6 species of horticultural plants, 8 species of fruit plants, 9 species of ornamental plants, and 9 species of ornamental plants. spices (medicine) 5 species, palm plant species 4 species, and tree plant species 1 species, Plant parts utilized by leaves, flowers, fruit, seeds, tubers, rhizomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the growth response of Setaria sphacelata forage grass to the application of fermented goat urine liquid fertilizer. The experiment employed a factorial design with two factors: doses of fermented goat urine liquid fertilizer (0, 10, 15, and 20 liters/ha) and forage type (Setaria sphacelata). Parameters measured included tiller number, plant height, fresh and dry matter production, and phosphorus and potassium content. Results indicated that the application of fermented goat urine liquid fertilizer significantly affected (P<0.05) all measured parameters. Increasing doses of fermented goat urine liquid fertilizer generally enhanced the growth and production of Setaria sphacelata. The optimal dose of fermented goat urine liquid fertilizer for Setaria sphacelata was 15 liters/ha, although the best results were obtained at 20 liters/ha. This study concludes that the use of fermented goat urine liquid fertilizer effectively improves the growth and production of Setaria sphacelata forage grass, with the best combination observed at a dose of 20 liters/ha.

Abstract

This article aims to identify the genetic variability controlling growth and production traits in local male sheep and Kacang goats, as well as estimate genetic parameters and variance components to enhance their genetic quality. Conducted at the Loka Pengabdian Kambing Potong, Sei Putih, the research employed a quantitative descriptive approach, collecting data on birth weight, weaning weight at three months, and pre-weaning growth rate. The analysis utilized statistical models to estimate heritability, repeatability, and breeding values, providing a comprehensive understanding of the genetic potential of these animals. The results revealed significant genetic diversity that could be leveraged for selective breeding programs to improve productivity and competitiveness of local livestock. The study underscores the importance of systematic breeding programs not only for increased production but also for the conservation of valuable genetic resources, contributing to food security and rural development in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research investigates the role of artificial insemination (AI) on the successful pregnancy of cows in Lawe Loning Aman Village, Lawe Sigala-Gala District, Aceh Regency, which is effective in increasing livestock productivity by allowing control of the timing and quality of reproduction and reducing the risk of disease associa ted with natural mating. The results showed that the highest pregnancy rate (80%) occurred when insemination was carried out within 6-12 hours after the onset of oestrus, while the pregnancy rate decreased to 60% and 40% when insemination was carried out after 12-18 hours and more than 18 hours after the onset of heat. lust, respectively. These findings emphasize the importance of appropriate timing in implementing AI to increase the reproductive success of cows. In conclusion, this research provides important insights for livestock practitioners to consider the optimal time for implementing AI to increase livestock productivity effectively and sustainably in Lawe Loning Aman Village.

Abstract

Studi ini mengevaluasi efek berbagai jenis pakan hijauan terhadap konsumsi dan pertambahan bobot badan kelinci Anggora di Kabupaten Langkat, Sumatera Utara. Pengembangan kelinci sebagai alternatif sumber daging menghadapi tantangan psikologis dalam konsumsi dagingnya serta tingginya tingkat kematian ternak. Teknologi pengolahan daging kelinci telah diimplementasikan untuk menghasilkan berbagai produk olahan yang meningkatkan nilai ekonomis. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan berbeda: kangkung, rumput sintrong, rumput bayam-bayaman, dan rumput lapang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan variasi signifikan dalam konsumsi pakan kelinci antar perlakuan, dengan konsumsi tertinggi tercatat pada kelinci yang diberi rumput lapang (282,14 gr/ekor/hari). Selain itu, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dalam pertambahan bobot badan antar perlakuan, dimana kelinci yang menerima rumput bayam-bayaman (11,26 g/ekor/hari) dan rumput sintrong (11,01 g/ekor/hari) mengalami pertambahan bobot badan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelinci pada perlakuan kangkung (10,99 g/ekor/hari) dan rumput lapang (10,66 g/ekor/hari). Rataan pertambahan bobot badan keseluruhan selama penelitian adalah sebesar 10,98 g/ekor/hari. Pentingnya manajemen pakan yang tepat untuk meningkatkan efisiensi nutrisi dan kesehatan kelinci sangat ditekankan dalam penelitian ini. Strategi ini dapat diterapkan untuk mendukung pengembangan peternakan kelinci sebagai usaha komersial yang berorientasi pasar, serta meningkatkan potensi kelinci sebagai sumber daging yang berkualitas dan dapat diterima oleh berbagai lapisan masyarakat. Studi lebih lanjut disarankan untuk mengeksplorasi faktor-faktor lain yang dapat mempengaruhi produktivitas kelinci, seperti pengelolaan lingkungan dan genetika, guna mendukung pertumbuhan industri kelinci yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Acraea terpsicore L. (Lepidoptera : Nymphalidae) merupakan salah satu jenis kupu-kupu yang memiliki sebaran terbanyak di Universitas Sriwijaya Indralaya, dan larvanya ditemukan dapat memakan tanaman inang Piriqueta racemosa (Passifloraceae). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui lama hidup dan perilaku makan pada A. terpsicore pada tanaman P. racemosa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Januari sampai dengan bulan Februari 2020 di Rumah Kupu-Kupu Jurusan Biologi Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Sriwijaya Indralaya, Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian lama hidup dan perilaku makan stadia pradewasa (larva) A. terpsicore pada tanaman inang P. racemosa dilakukan menggunakan metode deskriptif dan pengamatan perilaku makan menggunakan metode visual recording yang meliputi: deskripsi morfologi setiap stadia, lama waktu perkembangan setiap stadia, dan perilaku makan larva. Hasil penelitian lama hidup kupu-kupu A. terpsicore dari telur sampai ke imago berlangsung selama 34 – 44 hari dengan rata-rata 38,12 ± 2,34 hari, dengan angka kelulusan hidup sebesar 40%.
