Abstract

As the number of ruminants continues to increase from 2017 to 2021, especially ruminants in Southeast Aceh District, the need for forage for fodder must increase and the availability of feed throughout the year but the availability of forage is experiencing obstacles. The experiment was arranged according to a randomized block design with three replications. The study aims to obtain forage for the three varieties suitable for cultivation on abandoned land in Pulo Gadung Village, Darul Hasanah District, Aceh Teggara Regency. Study plot The first factor was the dose of manure (P) consisting of: P0 = 0 tons -1, P1 = 5 tons -1, P2 = 10 tons -1, and P3 = 15 tons -1. The second factor is the type of grass (R), which consists of: R1 = Elephant Grass (Pennisetum purpureum L), R2 = Mini Elephant Grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv mott) and R3 = Setaria Grass (Sphacelata). Gajarh grass of Pennisetum purpureum L (R1) variety, which had more dominant number of shoots, plant height, and fresh weight compared to other treatments. Manure can increase the number of shoots, plant height and fresh weight of elephant grass. The best interaction between manure doses and elephant grass varieties was shown in the P3R1 treatment. Abstract

Papaya (Carica pepaya) is a crucial tropical plant in Indonesian agriculture. Research conducted at the Seed Technology Laboratory of the Universitas Gunung Leuser Aceh revealed variations in the characteristics of papaya seeds, including the number of seeds that varies based on fruit size and seed arrangement. This study provides in-depth insights into the characteristics of papaya seeds and the influencing factors on germination, aiming to enhance seed quality and the optimal growth of papaya plants. Seed color reflects maturity and physiological status, featuring an elongated and egg-shaped form with flattened cotyledons. The germination process is influenced by environmental factors such as temperature, light, pH, oxygen, and soil moisture, with optimal humidity being a key factor for successful germination. The implications encompass a positive contribution to the development of cultivation techniques and sustainable management of papaya plants. Understanding the characteristics of papaya seeds and germination is expected to facilitate the design of more efficient cultivation practices, positively contributing to the growth and competitiveness of papaya plants. Penelitian di Laboratorium Teknologi Benih Universitas Gunung Leuser Aceh mengungkapkan variasi karakteristik biji pepaya, termasuk jumlah biji yang bervariasi berdasarkan ukuran buah dan tipe letak biji. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan mendalam terhadap karakteristik benih pepaya dan faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi perkecambahan, bertujuan meningkatkan kualitas benih dan pertumbuhan tanaman pepaya secara optimal. Warna biji mencerminkan tingkat kematangan dan fisiologis, dengan bentuk memanjang dan bulat telur serta kotiledon pipih. Proses perkecambahan dipengaruhi oleh faktor lingkungan seperti suhu, cahaya, pH, oksigen, dan kelembaban tanah, dengan kelembapan sebagai kunci sukses perkecambahan. Implikasinya mencakup kontribusi positif dalam pengembangan teknik budidaya dan pengelolaan tanaman pepaya secara berkelanjutan. Dengan memahami karakteristik benih dan perkecambahan pepaya, diharapkan dapat merancang praktik budidaya yang lebih efisien dan memberikan kontribusi positif pada pertumbuhan dan daya saing tanaman pepaya. Penelitian ini menjadi landasan bagi pengembangan teknologi benih yang efektif guna mencapai pertumbuhan tanaman yang sukses secara berkelanjutan. Kata Kunci: Perkembangan, Kates, Imbibisi, Morfologi, Biji

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan dosis abu sekam padi dan dosis pupuk kandang serta interaksi dosis yang optimal untuk pertumbuhan dan hasil bayam. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Mas Graha Village, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu yang berada pada ketinggian 26 meter diatas permukaan laut pada bulan agustus sampai bulan desember 2020. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan kelompok faktorial yang terdiri dari dua faktor. Faktor pertama abu sekam padi (A) terdiri dari 4 taraf, yaitu : A0 = 0 ton/ha (kontrol), A1 = 1 ton/ha setara dengan 50 g/m2 (dosis anjuran), A2 = 1,5 ton/ha setara dengan 75 g/m2. Faktor kedua yakni pemberian kotoran kambing (K) dengan tiga taraf yaitu : K0 = 0 ton/ha (kontrol) K1 = 2 ton/ha setara dengan 200 g/m2 (dosis anjuran), K2 = 4 ton/ha setara dengan 400 g/m2, K3 = 6 ton/ha setara dengan 600 g/m2. Adapun Parameter yang diukur adalah tinggi tanaman (cm), jumlah daun (helai) , berat per Tanaman Sampel (g). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kotoran kambing 4 ton/ha setara dengan 400 g/m2 mampu meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun dan berat per tanaman bayam sedangkan aplikasi 1,5 ton/ha abu sekam padi setara dengan 75 g/m2 mampu meningkatkan tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun tanaman bayam Merah.

Abstract

Limnocharis flava L., is a plant native to Latin America and tropical regions that has been introduced to South and East Asia. This plant is a potential source of nutrition as it contains various nutrients, including protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. It is commonly consumed as a vegetable, and its leaves and flowers have a high economic value and are sold in traditional and modern markets. The cultivation of genjer has promising potential, as observed in some areas of Indonesia where it can be grown on a large scale with good profitability. Therefore, a study was conducted on the potential cultivation of Limnocharis flava L in improving the economic income of communities in Southeast Aceh. The research used an exploratory method, including surveys, observations, and questionnaire results in Southeast Aceh district. Although genjer is still not widely cultivated, observations in several areas in Indonesia have shown that the plant can be grown on a large scale with good profitability. Genjer farmers in Southeast Aceh have an average income of Rp.619,632 per month. Keywords: Economic, Genjer, Food, simple, Traditional.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of Foot and Mouth Disease (PMK) on the birth and mortality rates of Aceh cattle calves in the Darul Hasanah subdistrict of Aceh Tenggara Regency. The study also aims to identify the factors that influence the spread of PMK in the region and to investigate strategies for its control. The research was conducted over a period of four months, from January to April 2023, in the Darul Hasanah subdistrict of Aceh Tenggara Regency. A purposive sampling method was used to select high-population villages with cases of PMK in Aceh cattle. The results of the study indicate that PMK has a significant impact on the birth and mortality rates of Aceh cattle calves in the Darul Hasanah subdistrict. Keywords: Bos indicus, Local, Management, Farmers, PMK

Abstract

Papaya is one of the leading tropical fruit that is very potential to be developed in Indonesia. Various treatments to solve dormancy of papaya seeds have been done, from sarcotesta disposal and administration, temperature treatment has shown varying results, so there is still no definite information about the way or treatment which is most appropriate for breaking the dormancy of papaya seeds. Therefore, the researchers wanted to do research on the Development of Morphology of Papaya Seedlings (Carica papaya L.) With Various Old Immersion Temperature and Pre-Germinary receptacle. Parameters seen are among others height of the plant and the length of the root. From this treatment, it is clear that the effect of the interaction of various immersion temperatures with pre-sprouted receptacle to Root Length Carica papaya L is significantly different.

Abstract

One of the consequences of poor nutritional management in toddlers is stunting. One nutritious alternative food to prevent stunting at a relatively cheaper price is sweet corn. Sweet corn is increasingly popular and widely consumed because it has a sweeter taste than regular corn (Kartika, 2019). Siswono (2004 in Surtinah, 2013) reported that the sugar content of the master sweet variety is 16 – 18%, close to the sugar content of cane, namely 19%. Sweet corn contains 96 cal Energy, 3.5 g Protein, 1.0 g Fat, 22.8 g Carbohydrates, 3.0 mg Calcium, 111 mg Phosphorus, 0.7 mg Iron, Vitamin A 400 SI, Vitamin B 0, 15 mg, Vitamin C 12.0 mg, and water 72.7 g Iskandar, 2006). This service activity was carried out at the Kampung Jawa Village Hall, Blangkejeren District, Gayo Lues Regency. The parties involved in this activity were lecturers from the Agrotechnology and Forestry study program, PSDKU Gayo Lues, Faculty of Agriculture, Syiah Kuala University as resource persons, as well as the Agrotechnology and Animal Husbandry study program, Faculty of Agriculture, Gunung Leuser University, Aceh Kutacane, village midwives as partners, village heads as facilitators and the village community. Javanese Village as a participant. Survey of activity locations, socialization of service activities, implementation of service activities, evaluation of service activities. The conclusions from this activity are: 1. Regarding the causes, characteristics, dangers and prevention of stunting by related parties, this is one of the first steps in efforts to improve the nutrition of pregnant women and toddlers in the Kampung Jawa Village community. 2. Sweet corn is an alternative food source that can be consumed by pregnant women and toddlers to prevent stunting. 3. This activity attracts the attention of mothers participating in socialization and Posyandu in Kampung Jawa Village and can increase their knowledge about preventing and handling stunting.

Abstract

This research investigates the role of artificial insemination (AI) on the successful pregnancy of cows in Lawe Loning Aman Village, Lawe Sigala-Gala District, Aceh Regency, which is effective in increasing livestock productivity by allowing control of the timing and quality of reproduction and reducing the risk of disease associa ted with natural mating. The results showed that the highest pregnancy rate (80%) occurred when insemination was carried out within 6-12 hours after the onset of oestrus, while the pregnancy rate decreased to 60% and 40% when insemination was carried out after 12-18 hours and more than 18 hours after the onset of heat. lust, respectively. These findings emphasize the importance of appropriate timing in implementing AI to increase the reproductive success of cows. In conclusion, this research provides important insights for livestock practitioners to consider the optimal time for implementing AI to increase livestock productivity effectively and sustainably in Lawe Loning Aman Village.

Abstract

Studi ini mengevaluasi efek berbagai jenis pakan hijauan terhadap konsumsi dan pertambahan bobot badan kelinci Anggora di Kabupaten Langkat, Sumatera Utara. Pengembangan kelinci sebagai alternatif sumber daging menghadapi tantangan psikologis dalam konsumsi dagingnya serta tingginya tingkat kematian ternak. Teknologi pengolahan daging kelinci telah diimplementasikan untuk menghasilkan berbagai produk olahan yang meningkatkan nilai ekonomis. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 4 perlakuan berbeda: kangkung, rumput sintrong, rumput bayam-bayaman, dan rumput lapang. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan variasi signifikan dalam konsumsi pakan kelinci antar perlakuan, dengan konsumsi tertinggi tercatat pada kelinci yang diberi rumput lapang (282,14 gr/ekor/hari). Selain itu, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dalam pertambahan bobot badan antar perlakuan, dimana kelinci yang menerima rumput bayam-bayaman (11,26 g/ekor/hari) dan rumput sintrong (11,01 g/ekor/hari) mengalami pertambahan bobot badan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelinci pada perlakuan kangkung (10,99 g/ekor/hari) dan rumput lapang (10,66 g/ekor/hari). Rataan pertambahan bobot badan keseluruhan selama penelitian adalah sebesar 10,98 g/ekor/hari. Pentingnya manajemen pakan yang tepat untuk meningkatkan efisiensi nutrisi dan kesehatan kelinci sangat ditekankan dalam penelitian ini. Strategi ini dapat diterapkan untuk mendukung pengembangan peternakan kelinci sebagai usaha komersial yang berorientasi pasar, serta meningkatkan potensi kelinci sebagai sumber daging yang berkualitas dan dapat diterima oleh berbagai lapisan masyarakat. Studi lebih lanjut disarankan untuk mengeksplorasi faktor-faktor lain yang dapat mempengaruhi produktivitas kelinci, seperti pengelolaan lingkungan dan genetika, guna mendukung pertumbuhan industri kelinci yang berkelanjutan.
