Abstract

Abstract

Hydroponic farming is often cultivated in cities experiencing rapid population growth. Business feasibility analysis is carried out as an effort to determine the level of feasibility of running or continuing a hydroponic business by considering certain feasibility criteria. Thus, a business is said to be feasible if the profits obtained can cover all costs incurred, both direct and indirect costs. Business feasibility analysis is an important thing to do to avoid losses and for business development and continuity. This research analyzes the feasibility of hydroponic vegetable farming in Makassar City based on financial aspects, whether it is feasible or not and analyzes the feasibility of hydroponic vegetable farming in Makassar City based on non-financial aspects, whether it is feasible or not. Financial Aspects and Non-Financial Aspects to determine the feasibility of Hydroponic Farming in Makassar City. Based on the results of research on the feasibility of Hydroponic Farming in Makassar City from a Financial Aspect it is feasible to continue running and the feasibility of Hydroponic Farming in Makassar City from a Non-Financial Aspect is feasible to continue running.

Abstract

Rice plants are one of the food crop commodities that have an important meaning for the people of Indonesia. This is because the product produced from rice, namely rice, is one of the staple foods of the Indonesian people. In dealing with the increasing demand for rice, farmers can take various actions depending on local conditions, available resources, and local government policies. One of the factors that affects farmers' production costs is the cost of fertilizer. The government provides a fertilizer subsidy program to farmers to support the agricultural sector. The provision of subsidized fertilizers aims to improve the welfare of farmers. Amendments to the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture Number 49 of 2020, subsidized fertilizers are Urea, ZA, NPK, SP36, and Organic fertilizers, then changed to the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture Number 10 of 2022, subsidized fertilizers are only Urea and NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphate, and Potassium) fertilizers. This study aims to identify the impacts caused by the reduction in subsidized fertilizer types on the production and income of rice farmers in Limpoccoe Village, Cenrana District, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Province and to identify efforts made by farmers in anticipating fertilizer needs after the reduction in subsidized fertilizer types. This study was conducted using an independent sample t-test. The location of the study was in Limpoccoe Village, Cenrana District, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Respondents in this study numbered 57 people who were taken based on a random sampling method from a population of 587 rice farmers. The test results showed that there was no significant difference in the production and income of rice farmers in Limpoccoe Village, Cenrana District, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Province after the reduction in subsidized fertilizer types. Rice farmers in Limpoccoe Village, Cenrana District, Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Province predominantly reduced fertilizer doses after the reduction in subsidized fertilizer types and some maintained their habits.

Abstract

This study investigates sago-based food processing businesses' cost structure, profitability, and sustainability trends in North Luwu and Palopo City, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. Despite sago’s strategic role as a traditional food and a climate-resilient crop, the industry faces declining raw material availability, low farmer income, and limited technological adoption. Using a combined qualitative-quantitative descriptive approach, including structured surveys and focus group discussions (FGDs), this research provides a detailed cost and trend analysis of micro and small- scale enterprises producing local sago foods such as bagea, dange, and kapurung. The findings reveal that while these businesses remain economically viable—with R/C ratios above 1.0 and the dange business reaching 2.1—profitability is constrained by small-scale operations, high input costs, and inadequate support systems. This study fills a critical research gap by shifting focus from upstream sago cultivation to downstream enterprise viability, offering a rare empirical insight into the dynamics of traditional food microenterprises in Indonesia. The novelty of this research lies in its integrated assessment of cost efficiency, scale potential, and policy implications. It proposes strategic interventions including modernizing processing technologies, strengthening farmer- producer linkages, and scaling up through cooperative models. The results provide actionable recommendations for local governments and agribusiness stakeholders aiming to revitalize indigenous food sectors. Future research should explore the design of sustainable enterprise clusters, examine consumer preferences for sago-based products, and evaluate the long-term impacts of technological and institutional interventions on sago industry resilience.
