Abstract

This article aimed to explain the role of scavengers as a sustainable landfill management strategy. Strategies using high technology or technical innovation faced many obstacles because of the limited cost and mastery of technology in the landfill. The consequences of the ancient paradigm and undeveloped model of waste management directed to an unsustainable situation and keep growing the opening of the landfill as a disposal site. Therefore we need an effective effort to reduce the waste that goes to landfill so it will not only be a place for waste bury but also being waste treatment facility in order to transform waste to be a valuable resource. Landfill and scavengers are things that can not be separated. When people reject the presence of landfill, a scavenger is highly dependent on the presence of waste that goes to landfill. Scavengers as one of the potential waste management strategies need to be considered. Scavengers and garbage are two things that have a close connection. Garbage always produced daily by humans and scavengers pick up the waste that can be sold. Some research related scavengers role in reducing waste will be presented. From the results of literature review and the results of the research, it can be concluded that regard scavengers as a community are important for the environment and developing landfill management strategy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of household waste on riverbanks, community participation in the management of household waste on riverbanks, and analyze the factors that influence the management of household waste on riverbanks. of rivers and community involvement in Balangan Regency. This study uses a quantitative social approach. Quantitative social method, sampling in three villages using proportional random sampling and data collection using a questionnaire that was analyzed using a simple linear regression test. According to the results of the analysis in three villages, the waste management has been implemented correctly. Based on the analysis of community participation that the average respondent answered a role, it can be seen in the results of the response of each respondent in which the community variable is 82.13% and the management variable is 78.10%. Based on the results of the t-test, it can be seen that the community obtained a t-count value of 3.626 with a significance level of 0.001. This shows that the level of significance of the community is less than 0.1, so statistically the influence is very large or it is said that there is a significant community influence in the management, so the hypothesis is accepted. Based on the calculation of the regression test, it can be seen that the value of the t count is 3.626> t table 1.67065 according to the criterion if t count> t table then there is a significant positive influence of the community in the management.

Abstract

Mining is a series of activities of exploring, mining (excavation), processing, utilization and marketing of minerals (minerals, coal, geothermal, oil and gas). Gunung Mas Regency, especially Tanjung Riu Village, Kurun Subdistrict, is one of the places in Central Kalimantan Province which has mineral resources including primary and secondary gold, zircon, iron ore and coal. People’s mining activities, especially gold mining in Tanjung Riu Village, are increasingly being carried out by the people and are further away from road access. This causes the people's mining area become increasingly depleted, so that in mining closure, it leaves the formation of critical land that is not organized and is not in accordance with the function of the surrounding environment and cannot be utilized. Most of the critical lands are in the form of void pits have the potential to cause various contimination, such as decreasing the quality of water stored in the voids due to metal contamination and decreasing the pH value of the water so that the water becomes acidic. The description above becomes the basis for research on the design mining closure of people‘s mining area in Tanjung Riu Village, Kurun District, Gunung Mas Regency. This design will be able to make the land useful again both for the People around the research location and for the general public whose use of the ex people’s mining area.

Abstract

This study was conducted to find out  the value of the drainage coefficient of the office area in South Kalimantan under the existing conditions, the effect of land use changes on fluctuations in discharge at Embung Kampung Banjar and the green open space that must be available with the existence of Embung Kampung Banjar. The existence of Embung Kampung Banjar is expected to reduce the impact of excessive rainfall which causes various kinds of natural disasters. This study usesd the Rational Method analysis to get the value of rainfall intensity in determining the planned discharge, the method of analysis of the coefficient of flow and the research method used for discharge fluctuations in Embung Kampung Banjar that is simulated with the synthetic unit hydrograph ITB –2 Kirpich, Snyder and Mononobe which all calculations by useng Microsoft Excel . The results shows that the simulation of land use change by adding the area of residential housing and offices are evidence of reduced open areas. The calculation of the maximum discharge coefficient of the existing flow using the Synthetic Unit Hydrograph (HSS) ITB 2 Timelag Kirpich of 7.83 m3/s and the results of flood tracking caused a decrease in peak discharge of 5.4 m3/s the largest land use change was found in the flow coefficient is 0.499 with a maximum discharge of 9.69 m3/s where the housing area is 0.85 km2 and offices are 0.47 km2. In Indonesian Law Number 26 of 2007 on Spatial Planning Article 29 paragraph 3 regarding the proportion of Green Open Space (RTH) about 20 percent of the city area. The calculation results of the peak discharge capacity of Embung Banjar Kampung which is equal to 6.8963 m3/s equal to 15 percent of the flow area of Embung Kampung Banjar which is obtained from the maximum discharge calculation, which is 9.69 m3/s. Then the results of the routing flood that caused a decrease in the discharge amounted to 6.6 m3/s, so the overall result is that the reservoir is still safe if overflow occurs in the reservoir.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the best existing condition of four waste bank in Banjarbaru. They are Gemilang waste bank in Guntung Manggis, Sumber Rejeki waste bank in Syamsyudin Noor, Barokah waste bank in Landasan Ulin Timur, and Cempaka Putih waste bank in Sungai Ulin, in Banjarbaru city. The result of the analysis is the highest score of waste bank management is Sumber Rejeki waste bank, because the waste bank administrator socializes it intensively.

Abstract

High urban population growth and increasing development activities in various sectors cause various problems in urban areas, one of which is the problem of waste in addition to other problems, such as urbanization, slum settlements, and so on. The problem of urban waste arises because of poor waste management. Therefore, this research is expected to be able to find out the availability of waste handling facilities and infrastructure in Pelaihari District so that it can overcome the waste that has not been transported based on the results of generation calculations and waste composition data. The purpose of the study was to analyze waste management, the amount of generation and composition of waste in Pelaihari District. The research method is descriptive quantitative. Analysis of household waste generation and composition refers to SNI 19-3964-1994. The average volume of waste generated by the sampling in Pelaihari District is 2.505 liters/person/day while the average weight of waste is 0.36 kilograms/person/day. The composition of the waste is dominated by organic waste (55%) then the most dry waste produced is plastic at 14%.

Abstract

Banjarbaru City Government seeks to suppress the rising of waste through waste reduction and handling. Based on National Waste Management Information System data for Banjarbaru City in 2022, waste reduction is 24.77% and waste handling is 75.21%, and has not been able to meet Jakstrada's target of 30% reduction and 70% handling. The purpose of this study is to determine the existing conditions for reducing and handling household waste and household-like waste and to analyze the obstacles encountered in efforts to reduce and handle household waste and household-like waste through the Banjarbaru City Regional Policy and Strategy. The existing condition of reducing waste is carried out at 121 waste banks, 1 3R waste disposal site and 2 recycling centers, while waste handling is carried out from 91 waste disposal sites and there are 26 illegal ones. Garbage carrier fleet of 57 units. A total of 145 tons/day of waste is processed at the Gunung Kupang landfill with the controlled landfill system. The results of the analysis of the the main priority AHP method of the waste management model, which is reduction with a weight value of 0.675, while the handling value is 0.325. The results of the priority analysis for the planning component, the first priority aspect on the constraints on managing household waste and household-like waste based on the opinions of respondents is the aspect of Government Policy with a weight value of 0.2690. Then the second priority is public perception (0.2201), the third priority aspect is health (0.2185) the fourth priority is the environment (0.1563) and the fifth priority is financing (0.1361). In the first priority technical component is waste disposal site with a value weight (0.2098), in the second priority is 3R waste disposal site with a value weight (0.2043) in the third priority is recycling center (0.1839) and in the fourth priority is the garbage transport fleet with a weight value (0.1824). The fifth priority is landfill (0.1136) and the sixth priority is the Waste Bank (0.1061).

Abstract

The number and distribution of TPS in the City of Banjarmasin currently does not meet the waste service needs of the City of Banjarmasin. The unequal distribution of TPS facilities has caused rubbish to pile up at several TPSs due to the lack of number of TPSs and the lack of TPS services. The step needed to overcome this problem is to identify the existing condition of the Banjarmasin City waste transportation system. Data collection was carried out by observation and interviews, then the data was processed by descriptive analysis. The research results show that the existing condition of the Banjarmasin City waste transportation system currently has 70 waste transport fleets which are divided into 3 types, namely 27 units of armroll trucks, 33 units of dump trucks, and 10 units of compactor trucks. The waste transportation pattern in Banjarmasin City uses the HCS transportation pattern for the Armroll truck fleet and the SCS transportation pattern for the dump truck and compactor truck fleet.
