Abstract

Accidents can happen unexpectedly and can happen anywhere, such as at home, on the street, including at school. One of the most common cases is a fracture. Knowledge of initial aid for fracture cases from teachers, employees, and even students is an essential point in preventing the worsening of the victim's condition before being taken to a health facility. It is necessary to increase knowledge of prevention and first aid in fracture cases at school by students and UKS coaches. The method of community service activities is education and training on first aid in fracture cases in schools, targeting UKS cadres. After the community service activities, the participant's knowledge about the first handling of fracture cases increased. The implication is that when there is a fracture victim, first aid measures can be given at the scene without waiting for the medical team to arrive.

Abstract

The increase in blood sugar is a common effect of uncontrolled diabetes mellitus (DM), which can cause serious damage to the nervous system and blood vessels over time. Research shows that due to time constraints, DM patients often have difficulty engaging in physical activities. Diabetic foot exercises have been recommended as a physical activity that can be done anytime and anywhere, including while relaxing with family. These simple exercises can help improve blood circulation, strengthen the small muscles in the feet, prevent foot deformities, and address the limited insulin levels in DM patients. This activity aims to introduce foot exercises to the community, particularly the elderly with DM issues so that they can engage in physical activity despite physical and time limitations. The method involves conducting simulations and health education three times a week. The results showed decreased blood sugar levels in the elderly who participated in this foot exercise program. Hopefully, these foot exercise activities can become an alternative and regular option, especially for the elderly in Ari Satan, Musi Rawas Regency.

Abstract

Introduction: Cardiac arrest is a situation that can lead to death if CPR is not immediately assisted. The chances of survival increase if the victims are directly helped by people nearby or CPR bystanders rather than waiting for the medical team to arrive. Training CPR bystanders requires large resources, including expensive CPR mannequins as a simulation medium. Creativity is needed to create cheap CPR simulation media with good feasibility. Objective: The study aimed to construct and test the effect of the CPR Pillow to improve the CPR skill in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Method: Research and Development (R&D) with experimental tests, pre-test, and post-tests were applied in this study. Forty people were given two meetings within two weeks. Skill was measured by how the subject performed hand's-only CPR using the CPR Operational Procedure checklist. Result: The result of this study is the creation of a low-cost CPR pillow design that meets the eligibility as a low-fidelity simulation medium for CPR skills. The data analysis using the paired t-test showed a significant effect of CPR training using CPR Pillows on the trainees' hand's-only CPR skills (t=-37,749) with a value of p=0.000. Recommendation: This CPR pillow can be used as a hand's-only CPR simulation medium. CPR simulation using this CPR pillow is a low-fidelity simulation. There is a positive influence related to CPR training using this CPR pillow on the hands-only CPR skills of the trainees

Abstract

Introduction: Even though CPR training has begun to be widely carried out, the problem of readiness of CPR training participants to carry out CPR during emergencies still needs to improve. One of the problems is the implementation of unsustainable training. There is a need to modify CPR training at a low cost so that movement can be sustainable, hoping to increase readiness. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the influence of CPR Training use of CPR Pillow on the scout member readiness in response to Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA) in Lubuklinggau City, South Sumatera, Indonesia. Method: This quantitative study was conducted with a quasi-experimental approach. A total of 72 participants participated in this study, of which 36 were categorized into the experimental group and attended three CPR Training in two months by simulation method using CPR Pillow. The remaining 36 participants were in the control group and received classical CPR training using leaflets. Both the experimental and control groups were subjected to pretest and post-testing. The researcher developed a questionnaire to assess the readiness, deliberate the implementation, and conduct modifications from other studies. The Cronbach's alpha coefficients used were 0.82. The paired t-test was used to assess the data statistically. Result: The experimental group showed higher readiness progress (t = 6.834, p 0.001) than the control group. Recommendation: Continuous CPR training using CPR pillows effectively increases the readiness of training participants in dealing with OHCA victims

Abstract

Patients with Gout Arthritis often suffer from intense pain. While there's no one-size-fits-all cure for joint pain in older adults with this condition, there are various ways to ease the discomfort. Cinnamon compresses can help alleviate the symptoms. Compounds like eugenol and cinnamaldehyde in cinnamon create a warm feeling on the skin, calming inflammation by slowing down pain signals. This can help lower sensitivity to pain and make it easier to manage. The case study method used was a descriptive case study method, with two subjects of older ages with Gout Arthritis, using the format of assessment of family nursing care and evaluation of pain scales. Cinnamon compresses are carried out four times a week using 2 ml of cinnamon liquid, with 200cc of water, at a temperature of 40-450C, followed by compresses for 15-20 minutes using a washcloth. After applying cinnamon compresses four times a week, the study showed a decrease in pain intensity before and after the intervention was given to the two subjects. The Subject's pain intensity decreased from moderate to mild pain. The application of cinnamon compresses is effective in reducing the intensity of Gout Arthritis pain.

Abstract

Fire is one of the non-natural disasters that still has a high incidence rate in Indonesia. The primary issue is the low level of public awareness and discipline regarding the use of electrical appliances and stoves, which are often the primary triggers of fire incidents. Early intervention is crucial to prevent the spread of fire damage, one of which is through the use of Fire Extinguishers (APAR) by the first witnesses of the incident. However, initial studies indicate that the public’s knowledge and skills in using APAR are still very low. This community service activity aims to enhance the public’s capacity to use APAR through an educational approach and simulation-based training. The methods used include short educational sessions and direct fire extinguishing simulations using APAR and real flames. Evaluation is conducted through skill observation using checklists before and after the activity. The results of the activity show a significant improvement in participants’ ability to use APAR effectively. With this improvement, it is hoped that the community can perform initial fire-extinguishing actions independently before the fire grows larger or before emergency personnel arrive at the scene.
