Abstract

Falsehood (bid‘ah) becomes an interesting study for Moslem scholars especially on the matters of worship and ritual practices. The committee of tarjîh al-Qur’ân justifies falsehood by referring to H{adith used as the guide and method. The interpretative result toward the h}adith causes different perspective among Moslem scholars. There are three important points that will be elucidated in this article: first what method uses MTA in conceiving h}adith in relation with falsehood, second how MTA perspective of bid‘ah, and third is re-construction the h}adith bid‘ah according to MTA. MTA explains that what is called bid‘ah in prophet’s h}adith is bid‘ah in the matter of religion (worship) that certainly misleading. Yet, the falsehood in relation with worldly matter for MTA must be given a space to branch out as long as it gives positive impact and push people creativity in general meaning. It is suitable with prophet’s h}adith said that “man sanna sunnah h}asanah..... man sanna sunnah sayyiah...”. In this condition, MTA indirectly admits the variant of the bid‘ah. But the ordinary classification differs with the ulama’s classification either in terms of mutaqadimîn or muta’akhirîn, in general point of view, otherwise the classification is in contrary with the religious matters and worldly matters.

Abstract

Perkembangan tradisi penafsiran dari masa ke masa menghasilkan produk tafsir dengan berbagai pendekatan, metodologi, dan corak tafsir yang berbeda. Pada zaman sekarang, perbedaan model penafsiran tersebut ditandai dengan rekonstruksi terhadap tradisi penafsiran klasik karena dianggap tidak lagi relevan untuk menjawab persoalan kekinian. Wahbah al-Zuhaili sebagai salah seorang mufassir kontemporer, menampik hal tersebut dengan menyuguhkan berbagai produk tafsirnya tanpa memutus tradisi penafsiran klasik. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari penafsirannya tentang ayat poligami yang komprehensif tanpa meninggalkan tradisi klasik, sehingga sangat relevan dengan kondisi kekinian. Poligami merupakan syari’at Islam sebagai bentuk penghormatan terhadap perempuan, bukan sebagai hal yang tabu dan hina. Sehingga bagi laki-laki, poligami tidak dimaknai sebagai perintah yang melegitimasi kenginan hawa nafsunya, tetapi Islam membolehkan poligami sebagai respon terhadap keadaan darurat ataupun kebutuhan mendesak, seperti istri mengalami kemandulan, di suatu negara populasi perempaun lebih dominan, dan tentang kondisi seksualitas istri yang tidak mampu melayani suami lagi. Walaupun demikian dalam melakukan poligami harus tetap memperhatikan batasan-batasan seperti memiliki kemampuan untuk menafkahi, berlaku adil terhadap seluruh istri, interaksi yang baik.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berusaha untuk menunjukan bahwa Hermeneutika sebagai tawaran dalam penafsiran Alquran, telah ada dalam ‘Uluūm al-Qur’ān. Hermeneutika merupakan teori hasil dari barat dalam mengungakap teks yang mempunyai makna dan  maksud tertentu. Teoritersebut telah digunakan dalamkajian Bible yang hasilkesimpulannyaialah Bible itutidakasli, lalubagaimanadenganAlquransebagaiobjekkajianHermeneutika yang ditawarkanolehpemikirbarat. Peneiitianinimenggunakanmetode deskriptif-analisis untuk menunjukan kedudukan dan fungsi ‘Ulūmal-Qurān serta Hermeneutika. Sehingga penelitan ini mampu menjawab bagaimana fungsinya ‘Ulūm al-Qur’ān sebagai pokok dalam menafsirkan Alquran. Hasil dari penelitian ini ialah bahwa kajian ‘Ulūm al-Qur’ān dapat membuktikan bahwa Alquran adalah Kalam Allah Swt, yang (lafazh dan maknanya) diturunkan kepada Rasulullah Saw dengan perantara malaikat Jibril yang diriwayatkan secara mutawatir, diawali dengan surat al-Fatihah diakhiri dengan surat al-Nās yang dijamin keasliannya oleh Allah Swt, berbeda dengan Bible ataupun Injil yang telah banyak mengalami tahrif (perubahan secara fundamental),  maka Hermeneutika bukan merupakan tawaran baru, melainkan mengupas kembali dan sadar atas metode salaf dan khalaf  yang merupakan inti dari kajian Hermeneutik tersebut, walaupun di masa itu tidak diistilahkanHermeneutik yang dipakai tetapi tafsir ataupun takwil.

Abstract

Krisis lingkungan global menjadi perhatian utama di era modern, membutuhkan solusi inovatif berbasis nilai spiritual untuk mendorong keberlanjutan. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi kontribusi hadis dalam mendukung gerakan Zero Waste, yang bertujuan mengurangi limbah melalui prinsip refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, dan rot. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan tematik, penelitian ini menganalisis hadis-hadis yang relevan dari berbagai kitab utama, seperti Ṣaḥīḥ Bukhārī dan Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai yang diajarkan Nabi Muhammad, seperti larangan pemborosan dan perilaku moderat, dapat menjadi landasan moral dan praktis untuk meningkatkan partisipasi Muslim dalam inisiatif keberlanjutan. Penelitian ini memberikan rekomendasi konkret untuk integrasi nilai-nilai hadis dalam kampanye lingkungan, kebijakan publik, dan pendidikan berbasis agama. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini tidak hanya menawarkan solusi teologis tetapi juga praktis untuk tantangan lingkungan modern.

Abstract

This study investigates the interpretation of the Majelis Tafsir Al-Qur'an (MTA) regarding the obligation of Friday prayers for women, employing the analytical frameworks of Fiqh al-Ḥadīth and Maqāṣid al-Sharīʿah. MTA adopts a literal exegesis of QS. al-Jumuʿah: 9, asserting its universal applicability irrespective of gender. The study critically reevaluates the traditionally understood Hadiths to exempt women, interpreting them as providing legal flexibility rather than categorical exclusion. By applying sanad (chain of transmission) and matan (text-content) analysis, MTA integrates classical methodological rigor with contextual reasoning, thereby advocating a reformist yet tradition-conscious stance. This research highlights MTA's inclusive perspective as a significant contribution to contemporary Islamic legal discourse, aiming to promote enhanced religious participation and social cohesion. Nonetheless, the study identifies ongoing challenges, including contextual limitations and restricted mosque access for women. The findings underscore how MTA's interpretive model embodies a progressive rethinking of Islamic obligations in response to evolving social realities.

Abstract

The carbon trading mechanism as stipulated in the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 21 of 2022 is understood as the buying and selling of carbon emission credits that exceed the threshold. In the eyes of Islamic law, carbon trading can be considered as buying and selling, but it does not seem to be fully appropriate. This study aims to analyze how carbon trading is considered as ta'wid (compensation) in the carbon trading mechanism in Permen LHK No. 21 of 2022. Using a normative approach, this research examines the provisions in the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. 21 of 2022 by comparing it with the concept of ta'wid in Islamic law. The results show that the sale and purchase referred to in Ministerial Regulation No. 21 of 2022 is understood as the sale and purchase of carbon emission credits that exceed the threshold, a concept that in the framework of environmental law is known as the Polluter Pays Principle. Companies that release carbon must pay losses to carbon sinks or have residual carbon, this can be seen as a form of compensation or indemnity related to environmental damage that harms society. Thus, the view that carbon trading as a ta'wid is in line with both sharia economic law and environmental law.

Abstract

The Canonization of the Seven Qirāʾāt by Ibn Mujāhid (d. 324 AH) represents a pivotal effort in disciplining the diverse recitations of the Qur’an during the classical Islamic period. Prior to Ibn Mujāhid, there existed a wide array of qirāʾāt, but he proposed a restriction to seven recitations deemed authentic. This article analyzes Ibn Mujāhid’s attempt at standardizing the qirāʾāt through the lens of Serge Moscovici’s social psychology, particularly his theories of social representation, minority influence, and ideological conflict. Through the theoretical framework of social representation, this study demonstrates that the Seven Qirāʾāt are not merely the result of scholarly codification, but a form of social construction shaped by the authority of religious scholars and supported by broader socio-political dynamics. Drawing on the concept of minority influence, the article explores how Ibn Mujāhid, as an intellectual figure, played a crucial role in shifting the majority’s perception and establishing a widely accepted standard of qirāʾāt. Furthermore, the article argues that the standardization of qirāʾāt is part of a broader ideological conflict in Islamic history, involving tensions between preserving diversity and the necessity of uniformity in Qur’anic recitation. In conclusion, Ibn Mujāhid’s endeavor to formalize the Seven Qirāʾāt should be understood as a product of social construction shaped by intellectual, social, political, and religious dynamics, rather than merely a philological phenomenon.

Abstract

Wage determination constitutes a fundamental aspect of labor relations, as it concerns the workers’ basic rights to fair compensation for services rendered. Nevertheless, wage systems frequently give rise to disputes, particularly regarding payment delays, unclear nominal values, and inconsistencies with the principle of justice. Such issues are evident in the wage practices of rice-drying laborers in the studied village, where employment agreements are made orally and wage payments depend on the sale of the dried rice. This phenomenon merits scholarly examination from the perspective of Islamic economic law, especially through the concept of ujrah, which emphasizes justice, contractual clarity, and timeliness in wage payment. This study employs a qualitative method with a juridical-empirical approach. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with rice mill owners, paddy owners, and rice-drying workers, complemented by direct field observations. Secondary data were derived from relevant literature on Islamic economic law and fiqh al-mu‘āmalah. The data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion-drawing processes based on the principles of wage determination in Islamic law—justice, clarity of contract, mutual consent, and punctual payment. The findings reveal that the rice-drying wage system follows a piece-rate payment model, in which the wage amount is determined by the quantity of rice successfully dried. Payments are generally made after the rice is sold, which occasionally results in delayed disbursement. To mitigate such issues, rice mill owners provide cash advances (kasbon) for workers in urgent need of funds. From the standpoint of Islamic economic law, this practice largely aligns with the principles of contractual transparency and mutual consent, although improvements are needed in ensuring timely wage payment to prevent potential harm to workers.

Abstract

This article explores the ethical foundations of the Qur'an in addressing ecological degradation resulting from mining activities in protected areas, with particular attention to the case of nickel extraction in Raja Ampat. Employing a thematic and contextual hermeneutical approach, this library-based study analyzes four key Qur'anic verses (Hūd [11]: 61, Al-Baqarah [2]: 30, Ar-Rūm [30]: 41, and Ar-Raḥmān [55]: 7–9) which articulate the notions of land, human trusteeship (khalīfah), corruption (fasād), and ecological balance (mīzān). The analysis finds that classical anthropocentric interpretations often overlook ecological responsibility and fail to confront systemic exploitation. By integrating perspectives from contemporary Islamic eco-theology and the objectives of Islamic law (maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah), the study reinterprets these verses as a theological critique of extractive capitalism and as a foundation for an ethical framework centered on environmental justice. It concludes that the Qur'an offers a critical discourse against ecological destruction and calls for a prophetic shift in tafsir towards sustainability, justice, and the preservation of creation. This research contributes to the development of an interdisciplinary ecological hermeneutics within Islamic scholarship, offering timely relevance to the climate and ecological crises of the 21st century.

Abstract

Hidup di era sekarang seakan tidak ada lagi batasan baik bersifat geografis maupun territorial sehingga memunculkan masyarakat yang plural dan heterogen. Dalam masyarakat yang plural dan heterogen inilah muncul pelbagai problem masyarakat terutama tentang pemahaman teks keagamaan yang menjadi pemicu tidak harmonisnya tatanan sosial. Artikel ini bertujuan menguak pemikiran dua tokoh Islam kontemporer dalam pemahaman teks agama Islam (penafisran al-Qur’an) yang berkaitan dengan pluralism untuk mencari pemahaman teks yang komprehensif dalam mewujudkan masyarakat yang pluralistik dan harmonis.Kata Kunci: pluralisme, tafsir, al-Qur’an, masyarakat plural
