Abstract

With the development of technology, a tourist spot can now not only be visited in person but also virtually. In addition, technology can also be used as an effective and creative medium for product promotion. The most visible technology is gadgets. A gadget certainly requires an application or software in it. Based on the results of observations, the community still does not know and understand the tourist attractions of the Bumiayu Temple which is located in Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir, South Sumatra. Thus, this design aims to develop and design the UI/UX design for the Bumiayu Temple Application as a medium that can be applied to the Bumiayu Temple. This research uses a human-centered or human-centric design approach to solve problems and present innovations, namely Design Thinking. Design thinking is carried out through 5 stages, namely empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. This research will develop or design a smartphone application-based promotion of the Bumiayu Temple Cultural Heritage. Through the development of a smartphone application-based promotion system for the Cultural Heritage of the Bumiayu Temple, it is hoped that it can provide information to the public who are curious about the Bumiayu Temple.

Abstract

Abstract

This research examines the significance of trademarks and industrial designs as visual identities and value-added elements for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Trademarks serve to differentiate products and function as a marketing strategy, while industrial designs enhance the commercial value of products. This assistance program aims to raise legal awareness among MSMEs regarding trademarks and industrial designs, specifically focusing on the shoe products of Range de Culture (RDC). The primary challenge MSMEs face is a lack of understanding regarding the urgency of such intellectual property protection. The methods employed include education on the strategic role of trademarks and industrial designs in business competition and guidance throughout the registration process. As a result, RDC successfully registered its trademarks and industrial designs with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI). This research highlights the importance of assisting in enhancing awareness and capacity among MSMEs to leverage intellectual property protection to bolster their competitiveness and business sustainability

Abstract

Studies on Old Javanese script have been dominated by an epigraphic approach that focuses on reading texts and historical dating, but often neglects its visual design aspects. This research fills this gap by deconstructing the Square Script (11th-13th century AD) through the perspective of Visual Communication Design (DKV) and Typography. Using a descriptive qualitative method with a visual archaeology approach, this research analyzes the morphology of the script in the PIM Mojokerto collection inscription, the technical data on the unfinished Tahi Papung inscription (Ponorogo), and its transfer to contemporary clothing media. The data are analyzed through tracing the morphology of the script, the application of modular grids and the Em Square principle, and visual semiotic interpretations to read the aesthetic and political functions of the script. The results of the study reveal three main findings. First, morphologically, the Square Script can be classified as a Slab Serif-style Display Typeface designed for long-distance visual dominance (visual weight). Second, the discovery of guidelines on the Tahi Papung artifact proves that this script was not written intuitively, but rather constructed through design rationality based on the Modular Grid system and the Em Square principle. Third, the combination of rigid geometric structures with dense ornamentation (Horror Vacui) functioned as a Territorial Branding strategy to legitimize the political power of the Kediri-Majapahit Kingdom. The transformation of this script into a creative industry product (a t-shirt) proves that this ancient design system possesses timeless qualities capable of adapting from its sacred-political function to a commodity of cultural identity.
