Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang nilai sosial dan perilaku tutur pada kata sapaan dalam Masyarakat Muna di Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Dalam masyarakat Muna pemakaian bahasa sangat mempengaruhi perilaku sosial masyarakatnya. Pilihan kata dan kalimat yang digunakan bergantung pada lingkungan sosial, jenis kelamin, pekerjaan, status sosial dan usia peserta tutur. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi dan kuisioner/angket. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode padan. Penggunaan metode pada dalam penelitian ini mencakup metode padan translasional dan metode pada pragmatis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan variasi bentuk sapaan dalam Masyarakat Muna berdasarkan hubungan kekerabatan dan sapaan berdasarkan status sosial. Bentuk-bentuk sapaan tersebut dikategorikan sapaan kepada orang tua laki-laki dan perempuan, sapaan kepada anak laki-laki dan perempuan, sapaan kepada kakak laki-laki dan perempuan, sapaan kepada adik laki-laki dan Perempuan, sapaan kepada kakek dan nenek, sapaan kepada saudara lai-laki ayah dan ibu. Bentuk sapaan dalam bahasa Muna berdasarkan hubungan kekerabatan meliputi, ama ‘ayah’, ina ‘ibu’, isa ‘kakak’, awa ‘kakek/nenek’, fokoamau ‘paman’, dan fokoinau ‘bibi’. Sapaan ama dan ina selain digunakan sebagai dapaan hubungan kekerabatan, sapaan ini juga digunakan sebagai bentuk sapaan keakraban yang berlaku pada orang tua lanjut usia dan sapaan kepada orang tua kandung dengan status sosial peserta tutur berasal dari golongan bangsawan, misalnya sapaan idha ‘ayah’ dan iya ‘ibu’.

Abstract

This research focuses on the existence of Muna traditional food lexicon made from corn and cassava. This research was motivated by the development of modern culinary today which began to shift traditional food. This condition has an impact on the existence of traditional food lexicon which is increasingly endangered. Based on that reason, this research aims to describe the existence of traditional Muna food lexicon made from corn and cassava in Muna youth. The method in this research is descriptive quantitative and qualitative. The result of this research is described in the form of level of existence of Muna traditional food lexicon made from corn and cassava in the form of percentage. Based on the results of research on 50 respondents, the existence of the lexicon of traditional Muna food made from corn and cassava is at the level of 70%. The percentage results show that the lexicon of traditional Muna food made from corn and cassava still exists among teenagers in Muna district. Keywords: Lexicon, Traditional Food, Muna

Abstract

This research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) that aimed to investigate the implementation of PjBL method in speaking class through generating English Podcast and to find out students’ perception on the application of PjBL method and English podcast project in speaking class. This research was conducted in 2 cycles by involving 37 students of English Literature Study Program, Universitas Halu Oleo and by using Kemmis and Mc Taggart (1988) model. The data were collected through observing, interviewing and doing speaking test. The results of cycle 1 showed that there was 27,03% of total students who achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria with the mean score of 61,02. However, in the cycle 2, there was 94,60% of total students who achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria with the mean score of 72,08. The results indicated that the implementation of PjBL through generating English Podcast in Speaking class could improve students’ speaking skill. Moreover, students perceived positively the application of PjBL through creating English podcast project. The PjBL method gets students actively involved in the learning process, encourages them to think creatively and improves their collaboration and communication skills as they work on the project. Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang kajian bilingualisme pada mahasiswa Program tudi Sastra Inggris dalam diskusi kelompok berbahasa Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk bilingualisme yang ditemukan dalam interaksi mahasiswa pada diskusi kelompok. Data penelitian ini berupa ujaran-ujaran yang mengandung fenomena bilingualisme. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik simak bebas libat cakap, peneliti hanya menyimak atau memperhatikan dengan seksama dan mendengarkan apa yang diujarkan oleh mahasiswa dalam diskusi yang diikuti rekam dan catat. Teknik tersebut digunakan untuk   mendokumentasi dan mencatat setiap kalimat yang termasuk dalam kategori bilingualisme. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam diskusi kelompok ditemukan kalimat yang termasuk kategori bilingualism berupa campur kode antara Bahasa Inggris dan Bahasa Indonesia. Campur kode yang ditemukan pada diskusi kelompok mahasiswa berupa kata dan frasa serta pembentukan kata dari proses morfologis dari kedua bahasa tersebut.

Abstract

This study analyzes the use of deixis in Mark Zuckerberg’s testimony in the United States Congress, focusing on how deictic expressions contribute to meaning, positioning, and speaker-hearer relations in political discourse. Deixis, a central concept in pragmatics, refers to words and phrases such as pronouns, temporal expressions, and spatial indicators that require contextual information for interpretation. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach. The primary data for this research consists of video recordings of Mark Zuckerberg’s congressional hearings in Youtube channel. The utterances of Mark Zuckerberg and Senators became the object of the research to be investigated. The findings show that the deictic markers employed during testimony in Congress categorized into three types; they are personal, temporal, and spatial deixis. Zuckerberg and Senators skillfully employs deixis to construct an image of accountability, collaboration, and respect, while subtly shifting responsibility through strategic pronoun use. By examining how deixis functions in Zuckerberg’s testimony, the research contributes to broader insights in political linguistics, discourse analysis, and pragmatics.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the use of directive utterances in the “Some by Me” advertisement published on Instagram. The study focuses on identifying the meaning and functions of directive speech acts employed in the advertisement to influence consumer behavior. Using Semantic and pragmatic approaches, this study adopts a qualitative descriptive method to examine the meaning and pragmatic functions of the directives. The data consist of captions from selected Instagram posts by the official “Some by Me” account. The findings reveal that directive utterances in the advertisement are predominantly in the form of imperatives in direct and indirect speech. Additionally, some directives are expressed indirectly through modal constructions and rhetorical questions to maintain politeness and engage audiences more persuasively. The study concludes that directive utterances are a crucial persuasive strategy in digital marketing, especially in beauty product advertisements, where language is carefully crafted to generate interest, urgency, and action among followers. This research contributes to understanding how linguistic choices in social media advertising reflect pragmatic goals and consumer engagement strategies.
