Abstract

Objective: The study was conducted to determine the relationship between variable symbolic interaction, online self presentation and the tendency to be cyberbullying. It is assumed that there is a positive and significant relationship between online self presentation (X) and the tendency to be cyberbullying (Y) mediated by symbolic interaction (M). Method: The study involved 435 respondents. The instrument is an adaptation of Manford Kuhn's Twenty Statement Self Attitude Test, Mayawati's (2016)online self-presentation scale and the tendency to become cyberbullying Lesbassa's (2014) scale. Mediator analysis was processed using SmartPLS. Results: The direct effect coefficient between online self presentation and symbolic interaction is 4,304; the direct effect coefficient between online self presentation and the tendency to be cyberbullying is 2,665; the direct effect coefficient between symbolic interactions and the tendency to be cyberbullying is 2,674. While the indirect effect coefficient between online self presentation and the tendency to be an actor through symbolic interaction is 2,271. Based on the results of the test found the overall value of T Statistics> T-table (1.96). So that it can be seen that online self presentation and the tendency to be cyberbullying shows a positive and significant relationship in adolescents in Medan City through symbolic interactions.

Abstract

Informasi peringatan dini terhadap bencana alam menjadi penting bagi kehidupan manusia, mengingat kondisi Indonesia yang menduduki peringkat atas dari negara lainnya dalam urutan daerah rawan bencana. Banyaknya korban jiwa sejak bencana tsunami 2004, membuat pemerintah berupaya untuk memberikan peringatan kepada masyarakat terkait gejala alam yang terjadi sedini mungkin. Salah satunya adalah dengan proses diseminasi yang dilakukan oleh BMKG. Dalam proses diseminasi yang dilakukan, BMKG harus memastikan bahwa informasi berhasil disebarkan, media yang digunakan tepat dan masyarakat sebagai penerima pesan memahami informasi yang diterima. Hasil analisis terhadap penelitian terdahulu menegaskan bahwa penyebaran peringatan dini melalui media sosial terbukti lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan media lainnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan studi kasus dan melakukan wawancara kepada informan kunci, yaitu: Pengamat Meteorologi, Stasiun Meteorologi Kelas III Gewayantana Larantuka, Flores Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep Komunikasi Bencana Haddow dan Haddow. Hasil penelitian pada Masyarakat Desa Lamanele ditemukan bahwa peringatan dini telah disebarkan oleh BMKG kepada pemerintah setempat melalui media sosial dimulai sejak enam hari sebelum terjadinya bencana longsor, namun faktor keterbatasan akses informasi dan sikap kurang responsif dari masyarakat, membuat proses diseminasi peringatan dini cuaca BMKG belum efektif, sehingga bencana longsor pada tanggal 4 April 2021 merenggut korban jiwa.

Abstract

This article is entitled Preserving Nowing and Kewatek Woven Cloth Arts in Growing Love for Local Culture in Lamabelawa Village, Witihama District, Flores-East Regency. describes the daily problems of the people of Lamabelawa Village in preserving the arts of Nowing and Kewatek woven cloth. There are several studies in this article, namely: I Art as a Local Cultural Identity 2 Describes Nowing woven motifs and offers to be registered with the Trade and Industry Office of East Flores Regency 3. The process of implementing the 4 Packaging Preservation designs in Multimedia. In explaining the discussion of this article, there are several inhibiting factors, namely 1. Many of the next generation of the nation are no longer familiar with the art of woven cloth. 2. Many people do not preserve the arts. Lamabelawa village. Withama District, East Flores Regency is one of the sixteen villages in the Witihama District which is the main entrance gate of the Witihama District. In this article the author tries to explain using descriptive research methods. The author can see firsthand the problems that exist in the location as well as the importance of documentation as evidence of preservation which also encourages a sense of pride in traditional arts in Lamabelawa Village, Witihama District. East Flores Regency.

Abstract

The spread of negative information on social media is of particular concern in today's digital era. The younger generation needs to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to prevent the spread of negative information on social media. This community service was carried out for MTsN 04 East Flores students. In this activity, servants carry out participatory socialization regarding digital literacy, teach information verification techniques, develop critical skills, and build digital ethics to prevent the spread of negative information or content in the digital environment. The results obtained show that students do not yet have this ability. However, this socialization helps them have the ability and awareness about digital literacy when surfing the internet.

Abstract

Dalam memberikan pelayanan yang baik kepada masyarakat, para pegawai Kantor Desa Oringbele diharapkan memiliki kemampuan dan pengetahuan yang baik untuk menunjang aktivitas penyelenggaraan pemerintahan di desa. Diantaranya adalah pelayanan dan manajemen kearsipan.  Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini adalah untuk membantu mengoptimalkan pengelolaan kegiatan kearsipan di Kantor Desa Oringbele, Kecamatan Witihama, Kabupaten Flores Timur. Kegiatan Pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui kegiatan observasi (pengamatan), kegiatan sosialisasi tentang kearsipan, pengisian kuesioner serta wawancara bersama narasumber, serta dokumentasi kegiatan pengelolaan arsip. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian dapat meningkatkan pelayanan pada masyarakat secara baik dan optimal, serta dapat melakukan penataan arsip pada tingkat desa dengan maksimal, sehingga pemerintah desa dan masyarakat dapat mengakses dokumen yang dibutuhkan dengan cepat dan mudah

Abstract

ABSTRAKPelestarian Lingkungan serta penghijauan di lingkungan Sekolah tidak hanya sebatas menyediakan udara bersih dan memperindah tetapi juga sangat penting dalam rangka melatih peserta didik untuk peduli terhadap lingkungan alam sekitar. Hal ini sangat penting, karena akan mempengaruhi motivasi belajar dalam proses pembelajaran. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan:1)  Menumbuhkan karakter peduli dan cinta lingkungan di kalangan siswa/siswi  ; 2) Menambah pengetahuan secara umum tentang alam beserta fungsinya. kegiatan pengabdian ini menggunakan metode partisipatif warga sekolah serta dipraktikkan secara langsung oleh siswa/siswi Sekolahan Dasar Katolik Witihama dalam pelestarian lingkungan hijau. Program ini dilaksanakan di SDK Witihama, Kecamatan Witihama, Kabupaten Flores Timur selama dua bulan dari bulan Mei 2023 hingga Juni 2023. Kegiatan pengabdian ini melibatkan Mahasiswi FISIP Universitas Katolik Widya Mandira Kupang serta siswa siswi dan para guru dalam menjaga dan melestarikan lingkungan. Hasil kegiatan ini memiliki dampak berupah perubahan pada lingkungan sekolah yang diakibatkan oleh suatu usaha dan/atau kegiatan. Kata kunci : edukasi; lingkungan hijau; sekolah dasar ABSTRACTEnvironmental preservation and greening in the school environment are not only limited to providing clean and beautifying air but are also very important in order to train students to care about the surrounding natural environment. This is very important, because it will affect the motivation to learn in the learning process. This service activity aims to: 1) Grow the character of caring and loving the environment among students; 2). Provide new understanding and experience to students regarding procedures for selecting plant seeds and sustainable maintenance; 3) Increase general knowledge about nature and its functions. This service activity uses the participatory method of school members and is practiced directly by Witihama Catholic Elementary School students in preserving a green environment. This program was carried out at SDK Witihama, Witihama District, East Flores Regency for two months from May 2023 to June 2023. This community service activity involved FISIP students at Widya Mandira Catholic University Kupang as well as students and teachers in protecting and preserving the environment. The results of this activity have an impact in the form of changes to the school environment caused by a business and/or activity. Keywords: education; green environment; elementary school.

Abstract

This study aims to examine development communication in community participation in village development planning. Community participation is very important because it can guarantee the effectiveness of development programs. There are a number of obstacles to community participation in development planning. Some identified barriers are the absence of legal support (Rumensten, 2012), lack of public awareness, low quality of human resources, length of stay and hours employment type (Wijaksono, 2013), lack of socialization from the government (Sagita, 2016), poverty and limited access provided by the government (Ompusunggu, 2017), and interest of bureaucracy in planning (Mbeche, 2017). These studies, indeed, have not considered yet cultural factor leading to disinvolvement. This qualitative case study extends previous studies by revealing the culture of mamfatin ukunrai discouraging community participation in development planning in Naran Village (pseudonym), Raimanuk Subdistrict, Belu Regency. Mamfatin ukunrai is a custom considering development planning is government's duties and responsibilities. Villagers are merely the executor of development programs. This custom is a legacy of royal government system and dominates the mindset of villagers. The tradition of highly appreciating the government unwittingly creates an invisible distance between government and society. It has discouraged villagers’ participation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine communication strategies in the government's efforts to deal with waste problems. This study aims to: (1) Determine the volume of household waste in the East Penfui area, Kupang, (2) Evaluate ways of handling household waste problems in the East Penfui area so that it can overcome garbage problem that occurs. This type of research is qualitative research. The objects studied were 4 points of garbage accumulation on Jalan Herman Johanes, Prof. Dr. and the sample used is the number of households in the village of East Penfui. The data in this study were obtained by conducting surveys, documenting and interviewing people who live in the village of East Penfui. Data analysis techniques using case study analysis techniques. The results obtained from this study are: (1) the average waste generation is 6.2 liters / person / day, the volume of community waste generation is 24.81 liters / family / day; (2) The methods for handling waste problems that have been carried out by the people of East Penfui Village are not yet appropriate and correct, so it is necessary to provide counseling or socialization on how to handle waste problems properly and correctly. The way to minimize the volume of waste generated by the community is by providing 186 units of trash cans with a capacity of 140 L which can accommodate 6 households of garbage per unit. The frequency of garbage collection that must be done is every 3 days.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the meanings contained in the public service advertisement posters for General Election 2024 using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. Semiotics, as the study of signs and symbols and their use, is highly relevant in designing effective advertising posters. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research explores the denotation, connotation and mythical meanings hidden behind the visual elements of the poster. The results show that the denotation meaning is displayed through visual elements such as the color of the ballot papers, the KPU logo, and the images of candidate pairs that are clear and easy to understand. The connotation meaning in the poster reflects deeper values and touches the emotional aspects of society. Visual elements such as dynamic design, the use of bold but harmonious colors, and the representation of candidate pairs who appear confident, thus illustrating a sense of responsibility as citizens to participate in elections. Meanwhile, the mythical meanings in the posters reflect narratives about democratic values, hope for change, and national stability, which evoke a sense of togetherness and optimism among the people.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pelajar dalam mengatasi hoax melalui pelatihan literasi media. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 10 Kota Kupang dengan menggunakan metode pelatihan literasi media yang dirancang untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kritis kepada siswa dalam menilai dan memverifikasi informasi yang mereka temui di media sosial. Metode ini melibatkan partisipasi guru dan siswa, kegiatan ini dilakukan pada tanggal 18 Mei 2024. Pada tahap pengabdian meliputi identifikasi masalah, diskusi, persiapan, pelaksanaan, hasil, dan evaluasi. Pada tahap identifikasi masalah, dilakukan observasi dan wawancara, diskusi, betujuan untuk menentukan strategi agar bisa meningkatkan pemahaman siswa, pembagian tugas, dan bisa mneyusun panduan sosialisasi, persiapan, persiapan yang dilakukan mencakup penyusunan materi, pembuatan modul, penyedian fasilitas, dan menentukan lokasi dan waktu pelaksanaan. Tahap pelaksanana, meliputi pemaparan materi, simulasi, diskusi dan sesi tanya jawab. Hasil, ditemukan pemahaman siswa meningkat dan adanya respon positif dari peserta. Dan tahap evaluasi, meliputi wawancara mengenai dampak jangka panjang dan reflesi internal tim. Hasil dari kegiatan sosialisasi ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan kesadaran siswa terhadap pentingnya literasi media dalam mengatasi hoax. Sebelum mengikuti sosialisasi, banyak siswa yang belum mengetahui tentang literasi media dan tidak menyadari bahaya berita palsu di media sosial. Namun, setelah mengikuti kegiatan ini, siswa menunjukkan ketertarikan yang lebih besar dalam memilah informasi dan memahami pentingnya verifikasi sebelum menyebarkan suatu berita. Temuan ini menggaris bawahi pentingnya literasi media sebagai bagian integral dari kurikulum pendidikan untuk membekali generasi muda dengan keterampilan yang diperlukan dalam menghadapi tantangan informasi di era digital.
