Abstract

The low learning ability of students in understanding the structure and language of advertising is influenced by the not optimal implementation of learning structure and language of advertising texts. In addition, teachers are not optimal in utilizing learning methods in improving students' ability to understand the structure and language of advertising texts. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in students' ability in understanding the structure and language of advertisement text. This research is a classroom action research consisting of two cycles with 30 students. The data collection method used is the observation method and the test method. The observation method is used to obtain data about students' attitudes and behavior. The test was used to determine students' ability to understand the structure and language of the advertisement text for class VIII C students of SMP Negeri 3 Tabanan for the 2021/2022 academic year after applying the inquiry method it has increased. This can be seen in the completeness of the students obtained in the pre-cycle, namely 36.66% with an average score of 62.33, the first cycle of students completed with a percentage of 26.66% with an average score of 68.66. The increase from cycle I to cycle II was 9.40%, in cycle II all students had passed (100%) with an average score of 80. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that by applying the inquiry method students' abilities have increased.

Abstract

The aims of the research are describing the language style found in commercial advertisements text on social media based on the word choice, the sentence structure, and the implicit meaning. The data in this research are 15 commercial advertisements which are divided into three categories those are food, beverage, and cosmetic advertisements, and were taken from social media such as Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. The methods and techniques used in collecting the data are the observation method followed by Simak Bebas Libat Cakap (SBLC) technique (Uninvolved Conversation Observation Technique) and the note-taking technique. In analyzing the data, padan ortografis method (orthography corresponding method) is used and supported by dasar pilah unsur penentu technique (determinant-sorting technique). In presenting the results, informal methods are used. The result of the research shows that there are 14 language styles found in 15 commercial advertisements on social media. Based on the word choice, all of the advertisements used an informal style. Based on the sentence structure, the advertisements used a repetition style. Based on the implicit meaning, the advertisements used rhetorical style included alliteration, asyndeton, ellipsis, pleonasm and tautology, rhetorical question, epanorthosis, and hyperbole and the figurative style included simile, personification, epithetic, synecdoche, and antonomasia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the use of code-switching in the song lyrics from the album Ambition bythe Japanese band One Ok Rock. Adopting a qualitative research method, this study describes andinterprets the data comprehensively. Sociolinguistics serves as the theoretical framework to investigatethe meanings, types, and functions of code-switching present in the lyrics. The analysis identifiesthree types of code-switching in the album: tag-switching, intra-sentential switching, and intersentential switching. Furthermore, four functions of code-switching are observed: expressive, phatic,metalinguistic, and poetic functions. The findings reveal a total of 34 occurrences of code-switching,consisting of 18 instances categorized by type and 16 instances by function. These results contributeto a deeper understanding of the linguistic strategies employed in the album and their sociolinguisticimplications.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku cerita bergambar sebagai media edukasi literasianti kekerasan digital bagi remaja. Buku cerita ini dirancang dengan pendekatan visual yang menarik,menggunakan narasi yang relevan dan dekat dengan kehidupan remaja. Dengan menggunakan metodepenelitian pengembangan (R&D), buku ini diharapkan dapat menjadi sarana yang efektif untukmenyampaikan pesan tentang bahaya kekerasan digital, cara pencegahannya, serta langkah yang dapatdiambil jika menjadi korban. Selain itu, buku ini juga didukung dengan evaluasi melalui uji cobaterbatas di kalangan siswa sekolah menengah untuk mengukur efektivitasnya dalam meningkatkanpemahaman dan kesadaran mereka. Penelitian ini menarik karena, di tengah maraknya penggunaanteknologi di kalangan remaja, masih sedikit media edukasi yang secara spesifik membahas literasi antikekerasan digital. Buku cerita bergambar menawarkan pendekatan yang unik dan interaktif, memadukanvisualisasi yang menarik dengan pesan-pesan edukatif yang mendalam. Oleh karena itu, hasil penelitianini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi signifikan bagi dunia pendidikan dalam membentukgenerasi muda yang lebih bijak, aman, dan bertanggung jawab dalam menggunakan teknologi digital.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of using short story posters to enhance vocabulary achievement among young learners. Conducted at SD Negeri 1 Satera, the research involved 15 fifth-grade students during the 2024/2025 academic year. A classroom action research design was employed, with pretest and posttest data collected to measure the impact of the intervention. The results reveal a significant improvement in students' vocabulary achievement, with the average score increasing from 55.2 in the pretest to 78.6 in the posttest. The standard deviation decreased from 8.4 to 7.2, indicating more consistent performance across the group. The combination of narrative context and visual aids in short story posters proved effective in making vocabulary learning engaging and meaningful, catering to young learners' developmental needs and learning preferences.
