Abstract

Background: The improvement in socioeconomic status has led to sedentary life style and more fast food consumption. Whether fast food consumption contributes to obesity in Indonesian adolescents remains unclear. Objective: The study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of obesity and to assess the association between fast food consumption and obesity in junior high school students. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2003 to estimate the prevalence of obesity in adolescent students of Yogyakarta Special Province. Subjects of this survey were junior high school students from urban (n= 4747) and rural areas (n=4602) were included in this survey. To further analyze the association between food consumption and obesity, a sample of 140 obese (of 460 obese students) and 140 non obese students (of 8889 non obese students) was randomly selected. Data on fast food consumption were collected using Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) method from the selected obese and non-obese sample. Results: The prevalence of obesity among adolescent students was 7.9% in urban and 2% in rural areas. There was a significant difference in variety, quantity, and frequency of fast food consumption per month and hereby energy intake from fast food between obese and non-obese adolescent students (p<0.05).Conclusions: The prevalence of obesity in urban area was much higher than that in rural area. Obese students consumed fast food more frequently and more variably than non-obese students.

Data collection was conducted by interviews using questionnaires and food recall tables as research instruments. Data processing through editing, entering and tabulating. Data analysis using Chi Square test with Ci 95% Results: the results showed that mothers with a good age group did not experience anemia as much as 87.5% and mothers with a bad age group experienced anemia as much as 15.5%. Mothers with good parity group were not anemic as much as 96.9% and mothers with poor parity anemia were 37.5%. Mothers with good ANC group had anemia as much as 96.9% and mothers with ANC group not good did not experience anemia 37.5%. Pregnant women with good folic acid intake group were not anemic as much as 54.5% and mothers with poor folic acid group were anemic as much as 87.5% Conclusion: There is a relationship between parity, ANC visits and folic acid intake in pregnant women in Percut Sei Tuan District. And there is no relationship between maternal age and the incidence of anemia in Percut Sei Tuan sub-district

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition in which growth and development is disrupted by children caused by chronic malnutrition. This study aims to determine the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the age of complementary feeding (MP-ASI) with the incidence of stunting. This study uses a quantitative approach with secondary data analysis and tested by chi-square with the sample. The statistical results show a value of p = 0.05. This study can be concluded that there is a relationship between the age of complementary feeding (MP-ASI) and the incidence of stunting. In other words, it is said that the sooner prelactal food is given, the easier it is for stunting to occur in children aged 0-2 years. The statistical results show p = 1,000, this shows that there is no relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting

Abstract

Football is an achievement sport and widely played throughout the world by all age groups, races and genders. Minerals and vitamins are nutrients that football athletes should consume because they contain antioxidants that can neutralize oxidative stress. Meanwhile, protein functions as an antibody and replaces cells damaged due to injuries experienced by a soccer athlete. This study aims to determine the relationship between protein intake, vitamin C, Fe and blood components (Hb, leukocytes and hematocrit) on football athletes at PPLP Medan. This study using descriptive observational with design cross sectional , that isanalyze the relationship between protein intake, vitamin C, Fe and blood components (Hb, leukocytes, and hematocrit)  football athlete (PPLP) Medan . The entire population was sampled, totaling 33 people, both core and reserve players. Protein, vitamin C and Fe intake were significantly related to Hb p- value 0.05. Meanwhile, protein and Fe intake were significantly related to hematocrit, while vitamin C was not related (p- value 0.05). Meanwhile, protein and vitamin C intake was significantly related to leukocytes, but Fe was not (p- value 0.05). There is a relationship between protein, Fe and vitamin C intake with hemoglobin levels based on the Pearson correlation statistical test analysis . There is a relationship between Protein and Fe intake and hematocrit based on the Pearson correlation statistical test analysis. There is a relationship between protein and vitamin C intake with leukocytes based on the Pearson correlation statistical test analysis.

Abstract

The 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) data highlights the prevalent issue of Chronic Energy Deficiency (KEK) among pregnant women. This prospective cohort study investigates the correlation between energy, protein, and fat intake in pregnant women and their infants' birth weight and length. Utilizing purposive sampling, third-trimester pregnant women were interviewed through questionnaires and food recall tables. Data processing involved editing, entering, and tabulating, with correlation analysis revealing that inadequate energy intake (61%) and protein intake (51.2%) were typical. Fat intake, predominantly sufficient (87.8%), exhibited minimal inadequacy (5%). Although energy intake influenced body weight, it did not impact birth length. Protein intake affected body length but not body weight, while fat intake influenced body weight without affecting birth length. Notably, most infants exhibited average birth weight (95.1%) and regular body length (95.1%).
