Abstract

Abstract

The implementation of Islamic noble character is to receive knowledge. Lack of attitudes to acquire knowledge should be overcome by preparing college students with attitudes to acquire knowledge. One of them is – having active listening skills. This skill has positive impacts on interpersonal communication and creates a harmonious relationship. This skill can be improved by applying it to receive knowledge. It is the reason why psychological students are prepared with this skill. It allows them to listen and analyze a problem of a client. This research aims to find out the description of active listening (the attitudes of receiving knowledge by college students). This research is qualitative, involving 28 college students taken by random sampling technique. The data were collected with an opened questionnaire distributed by Google form and interview. The data analysis applied descriptive data analysis. The findings showed that the students’ active listening skills would be easily applied when an individual had a better understanding of obtaining knowledge and could apply the skill. The active listening skill had to be trained and developed by students, especially psychological students. It would be necessary when they engaged with clients and analyzed their problems. It was essential to pay attention in applying active listening while promoting the attitudes of receiving knowledge, especially in terms of physics, mentality, empathy, and open-mind. Active listening would emerge if all people applied the attitudes of acquiring knowledge. Keywords : attitudes to receive knowledge, active listening, psychological students

Abstract

Fresh graduates often experience work-related stress due to professional demands, reality shock, and a lack of support from colleagues, which may lead to negative psychological responses. This study aims to explore the role of qana’ah as a specific form of religious coping strategy among fresh graduate mahasantri. This study uses a qualitative approach with purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, and to ensure data validity, triangulation of sources was used. The data analysis technique used was narrative analysis using the Clandinin & Connelly (1989) model. The findings indicate that qana’ah plays a significant role as a religious coping strategy for fresh graduate mahasantri in dealing with work-related stress through two main aspects: self-control as a form of self-regulation grounded in religious values, and self-acceptance developed through attitudes of patience (sabr) and reliance on God (tawakkal). In addition, social support from family and the surrounding social environment is crucial for fresh graduate mahasantri, as it serves as a fundamental foundation in fostering inner peace, emotional resilience, and the practice of qana’ah when facing pressures in the workplace.

Abstract

The urgency of this research is based on the complexity of the quarter-life crisis phase, which is filled with uncertainty and can lead individuals to experience emotional crises and generate various new problems related to psychological well-being. Therefore, the aim of this study is to explain the relationship between self-efficacy and contentment (qanaah) concerning the quarter-life crisis. This research employs a correlational quantitative method, with the research sample consisting of students at Raden Mas Said University in Surakarta, aged 20-25 years. The sample includes 365 students, selected using probability sampling with a cluster random technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed via social media. The results of the data analysis indicate that the data for all three variables are normally distributed, as the significant value is p > 0.05. There is a linear relationship between the variables of self-efficacy, contentment, and the quarter-life crisis, as evidenced by a linearity score (p < 0.05) and a deviation from linearity value (p > 0.05). The two independent variables also do not exhibit multicollinearity, as indicated by a VIF value (p < 10.00) and tolerance (p > 0.10). Furthermore, the data do not show symptoms of heteroscedasticity since the data points do not cluster around zero and do not form a clear pattern. The results of the hypothesis indicate that self-efficacy has a negative relationship with the quarter-life crisis among students at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, as shown by a correlation coefficient of -58.071 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Contentment also has a negative relationship with the quarter-life crisis, evidenced by a correlation coefficient of -39.029 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that self-efficacy and contentment significantly influence the quarter-life crisis among students at UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta.

Abstract

Public spaces are currently widely used by the community, especially after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Adolescents are actively utilizing facilities in public spaces. Adolescents are in a phase where they have a lot to say in social interactions. This phase is a chance for them to find their identity and will also affect their personalities. Carl Jung identified three types of personalities: extroverts, introverts, and ambiverts. Ambivert is a personality type that has good adaptability. The social environment or culture can influence personality. The social culture that has developed in Indonesia is collectivist. Collectivism requires the community to be bound by each other. The manifestations of collectivism are neighborhood associations, community associations, and community service. Social perception is a person's ability to understand other people with their sense of sight. The phenomenon that can be found in this research is the activity of adolescents with ambivert personalities alone in public spaces. The method used in this research is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The data collection used unstructured and semi-structured interview techniques. This activity certainly arises from social perceptions of the surrounding environment. Perceptions arise because the habit is still rare in our society. Perceptions that arise include that a person has no friends, has an introverted personality, wants to spend time alone, isn't good at socializing, or some consider it a normal thing to do. As a result of these perceptions, adolescents with ambivert personalities feel uncomfortable doing activities alone in public spaces.
