Abstract

The enactment of Law No. 30 of 1999 concerning Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution is a step forward in dispute resolution in Indonesia, especially the settlement of disputes in the field of trade in response to the deadlock in the settlement of trade disputes that require resolutions quickly, cheaply, informally, and maintained interests and the secrets of the parties. However, there are still some rules and practices that are not in line with the principle of arbitration law itself. In this paper will be reviewed and analyzed the position of the legal principle used in resolving disputes through arbitration, so it is hoped that these legal principles can be upheld by all interested parties, if there are legal rules and legal practices that are contrary to this legal principle, they can be ruled out.

Abstract

The existence of customary law aims to maintain harmony and balance of interests within the community, which carries a historical value passed down through generations. These values vary across regions and are rooted in a cosmic way of thinking. At the time this study was conducted, no previous research had explored the cosmic way of thinking in Merangin customary law. Using a normative-empirical research method, which combines two approaches—interviews with informants such as traditional leaders and community figures as primary data, and literature review as secondary data—the research employs a sociological and historical approach. The data is then analyzed descriptively and qualitatively. The findings reveal that the customary law of Merangin, which is alive and evolving within the Merangin community, is based on genealogical lines that have developed according to societal changes. The characteristics of Merangin customary law reflect cosmic values that are religious, magical, communal, democratic, immediate, and cash-based. This study is far from perfect due to the researchers' limitations in knowledge and sources, but it is hoped that the research will be useful for future academic study, teaching materials, and as a reference for legal practitioners in resolving disputes related to customary law conflicts in Merangin society.

Abstract

Professional village governance demands a comprehensive understanding from village officials of the regulations that govern their duties and functions. However, the reality on the ground shows a significant knowledge gap. This community service program aims to enhance the legal literacy and capacity of the officials of Tanjung Mudo Village, Jangkat Timur District, through advocacy on personnel regulations. The program was conducted on March 3-4, 2025, using a participatory method that combined interactive lectures, case studies, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). To measure the program's impact, pre-test and post-test instruments were utilized. The initial assessment results showed an average participant score of only 48 out of 100, indicating a low level of understanding regarding their rights, obligations, and personnel procedures. Following the advocacy program, there was a very significant increase in understanding, with the average post-test score jumping to 85 out of 100. This improvement proves that the applied advocacy method was effective in bridging the knowledge gap, thereby empowering village officials to work more professionally, accountably, and in accordance with the prevailing legal framework.

Abstract

This training was conducted to address the issue of mastering legal English vocabulary through the Quizlet application for students of the law study program at Merangin University, with the aim of enhancing their active participation and mastery of legal English vocabulary. It can be concluded that the training was successfully carried out as all participants followed each session with great enthusiasm. The implementation of this community service activity went well, in an orderly manner, and according to the schedule that had been set. The activity was considered successful in achieving the objectives, as evidenced by the achievement of success indicators set by the implementation team. The participants gained new knowledge and were able to practice what had been taught.

Abstract

Community empowerment through entrepreneurship based on local wisdom is a highly relevant approach to improving economic welfare at the village level. This article aims to explore the synergy between students of Merangin University and the potential of local wisdom in community empowerment. The study identifies various strategies for utilizing local wisdom, such as handicrafts, culinary products, and traditional goods, which can be developed into sustainable entrepreneurial ventures. In addition, the article discusses the importance of innovation in the development of local wisdom-based products and effective marketing strategies through digital platforms. The collaboration between universities, government, and communities, based on the Triple Helix concept, is seen as a key factor in accelerating the empowerment process and improving the local economy. This research uses a qualitative approach, with data collection through interviews, observations, and focus group discussions with the community and local entrepreneurs. The findings show that with proper innovation and collaboration, entrepreneurship based on local wisdom can have a positive impact on community economic empowerment.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the entrepreneurial skills of Law Faculty students at Merangin University through the empowerment of local wisdom in Bangko. The method used is a participatory approach with training, mentoring, and collaboration with the local community. The results show that students successfully developed competitive products based on local wisdom. The main challenges faced include limited knowledge of business management and digital marketing. However, through comprehensive empowerment strategies, students were able to overcome these obstacles and contribute to cultural preservation and local economic development.

Abstract

Simultaneous general elections held by the State of Indonesia to elect the President, Vice President, Members of Parliament, Governor and Regent caused various kinds of problems, one of which was in the form of criminal cases, which subsequently led to polemics in related agencies in terms of determining the forms and placing the articles of election criminal cases and their resolution, Therefore, this study attempts to examine the problem of normative research methods by the method of document overview on the application of the Wetboek Van Strafrecht in the specific provisions of the laws on electoral crimes  in electoral laws and regulations and on the resolution of electoral criminal cases that refer to Wetboek Van Strafrecht unless the electoral law provides otherwise, that the application of the provisions on electoral criminal cases and their resolution requires a detailed understanding of the parties involved in the electoral process. Therefore, there is a need for training and guidance for stakeholders namely Gakkumdu, in relation to the Electoral Crimes Ordinance and its resolution procedures; To avoid causing disputes within competent authorities in determining the difference between electoral offenses and common offenses
