Abstract

Research on the separation and characterization of chemical compounds from taro tuber (Colocasia esculenta Schott var. antiquorum) has been done. The maceration results of 850.00 g simplicial with 70 % ethanol solvent obtained 102.16 g brown viscous extract. The result of chemical components identification showed that the ethanol extract of taro tuber was positive for alkaloids, flavonoids, and terpenoids. Separation and purification of the ethanol extract were done by a liquid-liquid partition, thin layer chromatography and two-dimensional chromatography with a combination of n-hexane and ethyl acetate (2:8) as mobile phase. We found 4 bands (I-IV) with maximum wavelength were 407.0, 268.50, 253.00, and 209.50 nm. The presence of absorption at a wavelength of 268.50 nm and 253.00 nm indicating the presence of a class of flavonoids. The infrared spectrum showed that the isolates had typical groups such as O-H, C=O, C-C, C-O, and C=C.

Abstract

Dedicated to Community in The Aditarina Makassar: Clean and Healthy Living BehaviorThe area of Aditarania Mosque, Manggala District, Makassar City is an area dominated by the lower middle level community with scavenger professions, there are many school-aged children with low levels of parental knowledge and children on clean and healthy snacks. This service activity aims to provide knowledge and information to the people of the Aditarina region on the importance of consuming healthy snacks. Activities are conducted both offline and audaciously with the lecture and discussion methods. The advice material provided includes the characteristics of healthy snacks, all the harmful ingredients that are often added to snacks, and how to choose healthy snacks. The results of service activities provide the community with increased knowledge about healthy, clean, and safe services.Keywords: Aditarania, snacks, hazardous materials.Kawasan mesjid aditarania Kecamatan Manggala Kota Makassar merupakan kawasan yang didominasi oleh masyarakat tingkat ekonomi menengah kebawah dengan profesi pemulun, terdapat banyak anak-anak usia sekolah dengan tingkat pengetahuan orang tua dan anak yang rendah terhadap jajanan yang bersih dan sehat. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan informasi kepada masyarakat kawasan Aditarina tentang pentingnya mengkonsumsi jajanan yang sehat. Kegiatan yang dilakukan secara hybrid gabunganluring maupun daring dengan metode ceramah, dan diskusi. Materi penyuluhan yang diberikan meliputi cirri-ciri jajanan yang sehat,bahan-bahan berbahaya apasaja yang sering ditambahakan pada jajanan serta cara memilih jajanan yang sehat. Hasil Kegiatan pengabdian telah memberikan peningkatan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat tentang jajanan yang sehat,bersih dan aman.Kata Kunci : Aditarania,jajanan,bahan berbahaya.

Abstract

Potential for Improving Memory in White Rats (Rattus norvegicus) Using Moringa Leaf Extract (Moringa oleifera) Using the Y Maze Method Memory decline is a disease of impaired brain function and cognitive decline characterized by changes in behavior, decreased memory, and difficulty in communicating. One of the causative factors is oxidative stress where the imbalance between the production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and the body's antioxidant defense system, causes lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation, and changes in ROS that cause the death of brain neurons. Moringa leaf (Moringa oleifera) is a plant that contains high antioxidants, namely flavonoids. These compounds provide neuroprotective effects on the brain due to oxidative stress that causes memory decline. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of Moringa leaf extract on memory improvement in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) using the Y-Maze Labyrinth method. Experimental animals were divided into 5 groups, namely negative control (Na-CMC), Gingko Biloba, and treatment groups given moringa leaf extract at a dose of 50 mg / kgBB, 100 mg / kgBB and 200 mg / kgBB. The rats were first induced with Hyosin-Butylbrimide at a dose of 1.5 mg/KgBB in ip for 10 days. The administration of the extract was carried out for 18 days with the observed parameters including the time required for rats to find food in the Y-maze maze tool.  The observation data obtained were then analyzed using the Mann Whitney test. The results showed that the ethanol extract of moringa leaves has a memory enhancing activity. Memory enhancing activity was shown at a dose of 200 mg/kgBB. ABSTRAK Penurunan daya ingat merupakan penyakit gangguan fungsi otak dan penurunan kognitif yang ditandai dengan perubahan perilaku, penurunan memori, serta kesulitan dalam berkomunikasi. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah stress oksidatif dimana ketidakseimbangan antara produksi Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) dengan sistem pertahanan antioksidan tubuh, sehingga menyebabkan peroksidasi lipid, oksidasi protein, perubahan ROS yang menyebabkan kematian neuron otak. Daun Kelor (Moringa oleifera) merupakan tanaman yang mengandung antioksidan tinggi yaitu flavonoid. Senyawa tersebut memberikan efek neuroprotektif pada otak akibat stres oksidatif yang menyebabkan penurunan daya ingat. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas ekstrak Daun Kelor terhadap peningkatan daya ingat pada tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) menggunakan metode Labirin Y-Maze. Hewan coba dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok yaitu kontrol negatif (Na-CMC), Gingko Biloba, kelompok perlakuan yang diberikan ekstrak Daun Kelor dengan dosis 50 mg/KgBB, 100 mg/KgBB dan 200 mg/KgBB. Terlebih dahulu tikus diinduksi dengan Hyosin-Butylbrimide dengan dosis 1,5 mg/KgBB secara ip selama 10 hari. Pemberian ekstrak dilakukan selama 18 hari dengan parameter yang diamati meliputi waktu yang dibutuhkan tikus untuk menemukan makanan pada alat labirin Y-maze.  Data hasil pengamatan yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Mann Whitney. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol Daun Kelor mempunyai aktivitas peningkat daya ingat. Aktivitas peningkat daya ingat ditunjukkan pada dosis 200 mg/kgBB.

Abstract

Evaluation of Storing Vaccines at the Community Health Center in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi Vaccines are a biological preparation whose storage requires special attention because they are compassionate. Improper storage and distribution of vaccines will reduce the quality of the vaccine so that its effectiveness will also decrease or even not be effective at all. This study aims to determine the description of vaccine storage at the Community Health Center, Regency of Maros, South Sulawesi. This research is a qualitative descriptive study conducted at 14 Community Health Centers in April - June 2022. Data was collected using direct interview techniques with vaccine officials and direct observation at vaccine storage areas. The research results show that the storage system meets the minimum requirements, although several aspects still do not meet the criteria due to a lack of storage facilities. Vaccines include vaccine solvent and vaccine layout in a refrigerator equipped with a generator, not exposed to direct sunlight, and in a room with sufficient air circulation. There are vaccine vial monitors (VVM) in conditions A and B. Incoming and outgoing vaccines are reported and recorded on the stock card. Likewise, the COVID-19 vaccine is also stored under reasonable control. So, it can be concluded that the vaccine storage system at 14 community health centers in the district. Maros has fulfilled the requirements of the Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia, No. 12 in 2017. Vaksin merupakan salah satu sediaan biologi yang penyimpanannya membutuhkan perhatian khusus karena sangat sensitif. Penyimpanan dan pendistribusian vaksin yang tidak tepat akan menurunkan mutu vaksin sehingga efektivitasnya juga menurun bahkan tidak berkhasiat sama sekali. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran penyimpanan vaksin di Puskesmas Kab. Maros, Sulawesi Selatan. Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif kualitatif yang dilakukan terhadap 14 puskesmas pada bulan April hingga Juni 2022. Data dikumpulkan dengan teknik wawancara langsung pada petugas penanggung jawab vaksin dan melakukan observasi langsung pada tempat penyimpanan vaksin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem penyimpanan sudah memenuhi syarat minimal walaupun masih ada beberapa aspek yang tidak terpenuhi kriteria karena kurangnya fasilitas penyimpanan. Vaksin termasuk pelarut vaksin dan tata letak vaksin di dalam refrigerator yang dilengkapi dengan generator (genset), tidak terkena sinar matahari langsung, dan ruangan yang memiliki sirkulasi udara yang cukup. Terdapat vaccine vial monitor (VVM) yang berada dalam kondisi A dan B. Vaksin yang masuk maupun keluar terlapor dan tercatat pada kartu stok. Begitu pula dengan vaksin covid-19 juga tersimpan dengan kontrol yang baik pula. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan sistem penyimpanan vaksin pada 14 Puskesmas di Kab. Maros telah memenuhi syarat PerMenKes No. 12 tahun 2017.

Abstract

Doxorubicin is the first line of cancer treatment but has very serious side effects such as hair loss, kidney damage and liver function abnormalities. One strategy to reduce these side effects is to combine doxorubicin with medicinal plants with anti-cancer properties such as soursop leaves (Annona muricata Linn). The aim of this research is to determine the synergistic effect of the combination of soursop leaf extract with doxorubicin to inhibit the growth of MCF-5 breast cancer cells. Soursop leaves were extracted with 96% ethanol while the anti-cancer test used the MTT method. The results of the study showed that soursop leaf extract had anti-cancer properties with IC25 and IC50 respectively being 29.36 ± 1.16 and 58.75 ± 2.35 µg/mL while doxorubicin was 1.34 ± 0.04 and 2. 76 ± 0.03 µg/mL. The combination of soursop leaf extract and doxorubicin showed a value of 0.8-1.0 (moderate synergistic). In conclusion, the combination of soursop leaf extract and doxorubicin shows a synergistic effect.
