Abstract

Pest and disease attacks are one of the obstacles in increasing shallot production in the Palu Valley, Central Sulawesi. Farmers still rely on the use of synthetic pesticides to control pests and diseases, which results in a high demand for insecticides and fungicides. This community service aims to disseminate pest control technology with the bioinsecticide Beauveria bassiana and disease control with the biofungicide Trichoderma, as well as train farmers to develop and apply it on their farms to solved the problems. The methods applied are training, technology application demonstration plots, coaching, and mentoring. The results of the activity showed that the participants were able to make and develop the bioinsecticide Beauveria bassiana and the biofungicide Trichoderma well. The application of bioinsecticides and biofungicides on demonstration plots reduced the intensity of onion caterpillar attacks and stem rot disease of shallots. With these results, farmers are expected to be able to develop and apply them in their farms.

Abstract

One of problems in the Jabon propagation is the availability of seeds both quality and quantity. Tissue culture technology is one of the alternatives that can be used for the supply of Jabonseeds to produce organs of plants (buds, leaves, roots). The success of plant tissue culture techniques is determined by the condition of explants, a supportive environment and the addition of growth regulators are expected to provide a response to the cultured explants. This study aimed to know the effect of Benzyl Amino Purine (BAP) and Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) to in vitro multiplication of Jabon. This research conducted at the Laboratory of Forestry Sciences, Faculty of Forestry, University of Tadulako from March to May 2015. Using a completely randomized design with treatments: 0.1 mg / l IAA + 1 mg / l BAP (JB1), 0.1 mg / l IAA + 1.5 mg / l BAP (JB2), 0.1 mg / l IAA + 2 mg / l BAP ( JB3) and 0.1 mg / l IAA + 2.5 mg / l BAP (JB4). Abstract

The Saga plant (Adhenanthera pavonina L) is a plant that can be used in all parts of the plant, from seeds, wood, bark, stems and leaves. To support the growth of saga seedlings, planting media is needed that contains sufficient nutrients. Providing organic fertilizer can improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil, and can increase the availability of nutrients in the soil. This research was carried out for three months, namely March to June 2023, at the Arboretum Nursery of the Faculty of Forestry, Tadulako University. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (RAL) method with 3 treatments and 7 replications so there were 21 research units. The treatments given were P0= Control, P1=Lamtoro Fertilizer 100 gr/polybag, P2=Lamtoro Fertilizer 150 gr/polybag. Observation parameters were seedling height, stem diameter, and number of leaves. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (F test). If based on the analysis of variance (F test) there is a significant effect, then the Least Significant Difference (BNT) test is continued at the 5% level. The results of the research showed that treatment with various doses of lamtoro leaf organic fertilizer on ex-mining planting media had a significant effect on the increase in height, diameter and number of leaves on saga seedlings (Adhenanthera pavonina L.). Based on the results of the 5% significant difference test (BNJ), it shows that the average increase in height and diameter of saga seedlings in treatment P2 is significantly different from treatments P1 and P0, but the average leaf growth in treatment P2 is not significantly different. significantly different. significantly different from P1, but significantly different. against P0. The average height increase results are P2=7.4, P1=5.3, P0=2.9. Average increase in diameter P2=2.24mm, P1=0.9mm, P0=0.6mm. The average increase in number of leaves was P2=22.42, P1=20.17 and P0=8.71.

Abstract

Introduction: Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a type of vegetable that is widely consumed by the public. Cucumber production is still low due to cultivation systems that are not by standard operating procedures and low soil fertility. Therefore it is necessary to improve cultivation techniques through the use of quality seeds and fertilization. The study aimed to determine the effect of various concentrations of indigenous microorganisms from the corm of banana on the growth and yield of three varieties of cucumber. Methods: The study used a randomized block design with two factors: cucumber variety (Hercules, Mercy, Harmony) and concentration of indigenous microorganisms from banana corm (0, 200, 400, 600 ml/L). Each treatment was repeated three times with eight plants per plot, totaling 288 plants. Results: There was an interaction between cucumber varieties and microorganism concentrations. The Harmony variety with 600 ml/L of microorganisms showed the best results: plant height (162.03 cm), number of leaves (31.92), branches (3.57), fruits (10.58), and fruit weight (156.28 g). Conclusion: The Harmony variety and 600 ml/L concentration of indigenous microorganisms from banana corms significantly improved cucumber growth and yield. This method can reduce production costs by using easily available and cheap materials, decreasing reliance on expensive synthetic fertilizers.
