Abstract

The shift in the democratization of education has been influenced by the decentralization of education in Indonesia since 2001. The shift in the dominance of education management from centralized to decentralized can also be seen within Islamic educational institutions. Democracy can be seen, among others, by applying the concept of community-based education in a national education administration organized by Islamic institutions. Data were obtained through interviews, participatory observation and document study. Interviews were conducted with key informants: the principal, teachers, parents, students and the user community. The characteristics of democratization in Islamic schools generally begin with a dialogue between democracy and Islamic teachings. The acceptance of democracy in Hj Isriati's institution is understood as a concept that aligns with Islamic teachings (humanistic model). The acceptance of democracy in Al-Azhar school can be classified into integralistic democratization. Democratization in Islamic schools in Semarang city in managerial aspects is generally based on competitive and professional aspects. This is because Islamic schools are private schools whose funding sources are mostly from the stockholder community, which demands high competition and professionalism to exist in the community. Democratization in the aspect of learning in Islamic schools is generally based on Islamic characteristics and becomes the most prominent feature in democratization in the aspect of learning.

Abstract

AbstractThis study explores parents' perceptions and actions in ensuring the digital safety of elementary school children in Indonesia, where internet penetration is high. This study utilized a mixed methods approach using a convergent parallel design to collect data from 219 parents of elementary school students through closed and open-ended questions presented by Google Forms. Quantitative data was analyzed using mean score and Pearson correlation, whereas quantitative data was analyzed using content and descriptive analysis. The study found that parents generally perceive digital devices and the internet as beneficial tools for enhancing children's learning, creativity, and communication, though they also recognize risks such as exposure to harmful content and cyberbullying. To optimize the benefits and mitigate risks, parents employ strategies such as supervising device use, setting time limits, and educating children about online safety and digital etiquette. These findings highlight the importance of digital literacy for parents and children and the need for collaboration among families, educators, and policymakers to create a safe digital environment for children. Abstract

Critical discourse analysis has been used to determine the power relations thatoccur in the process of production and reproduction of meaning. The structure ofknowledge influences the course of the practice of disclosure. The intendedknowledge is not only knowledge that is known by the speaker, but the knowledgeof the listener or reader. This places critical discourse analysis in a multidisciplinaryview. The multidisciplinary view is currently inherent in the analysis of criticaldiscourse and raises the potential for the involvement of critical discourse analysisin the discourses that arise in the classroom. Furthermore, critical discourse analysiscan also play a role in learning. This article conveys the potential role of CriticalDiscourse Analysis in critical literacy learning, critical thinking, and criticallanguage awareness.

Abstract

Ecological literacy is an important part of forming an environmentally conscious generation. One way to foster ecological literacy is to include ecological components in student books in schools. This research analyzes the texts in Indonesian textbooks from the perspective of Critical Discourse Analysis. The Critical Discourse Analysis used in this research is Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis. There are three dimensions of critical discourse analysis study, namely text analysis, text production analysis, and social practice analysis. Data collection was carried out using the read and labelling technique. The results showed that text analysis has represented ecology and ecological awareness, while text production analysis and social practice analysis are still limited to ecological elements, not yet referring to the current situation in the field.
