Abstract

This study aims to describe the connotative meaning of the lyrics of the song "Hero" by Alan Walker using a descriptive qualitative approach. This research describes the phenomenon in depth in song lyrics to understand the implicit messages and connotative meanings contained in them. The main source of data is the lyric text "Hero" obtained from the official digital platform. The data was analyzed through the identification of key words, exploration of denotative and connotative meanings, and association with the main theme of the song. The results of the study show that songwriters use various elements of connotative language to convey messages about struggle, hope, courage, and solidarity in facing life's challenges. The connotative meaning in the lyrics of this song reinforces the main theme about the strength of the individual and the importance of collaboration in achieving common goals. This research contributes to understanding how linguistic elements in song lyrics can construct connotative meanings that are relevant to the emotional, social, and cultural context of the listener. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan dialek bahasa Jawa antara kawasan inti kota Surakarta dan kawasan pinggiran kota Surakarta serta mengidentifikasi faktor sosial yang memengaruhi perbedaan tersebut. Kawasan inti kota diwakili oleh kelurahan Ketelan, sedangkan kawsan pinggiran kota diwakili oleh kelurahan Joglo. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian berupa tuturan lisan narasumber yang dikumpulkan melalui metode simak dan cakap dengan teknik pancing, cakap semuka, catat, dan rekam. Analisis data dilakukan dengan metode padan dan agih untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan fonologis dan leksikal antar dialek. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dialek bahsa Jawa di kelurahan Ketelan cenderung mendekati ragam standar Surakarta dengan pelafalan bunyi yang relatif halus, stabil, dan intonasi yang lebih terkendali. Sebaliknya, dialek bahasa Jawa di kelurahan Joglo menunjukkan ciri khas dialek pinggiran kota dengan pelafalan bunyi yang lebih kuat dan tegas serta intonasi yang lebih ekspresif. Perbedaan dialek tersebut dipengaruhi oleh latar sosial penutur, terutama tingkat pendidikan, mobilitas, dan jenis kelamin. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa variasi dialek bahasa Jawa merupakan hasil interaksi antara faktor geografis dan faktor sosial penutur.

Abstract

With the technological advances of the 21st century, radio broadcasting has become more dependent on computers than ever before. Computers are used in radio broadcasting for a number of different tasks, including automation, control, monitoring, and logging. Automation is the most common use of computers in radio broadcasting. Automation software is used to control the playback of music and other audio content. This allows radio stations to operate without a live DJ or presenter. But in this case the presenter still needs to deliver the talk show program. The article studies the radio broadcasters’ language politeness, as part of the strategies in attracting the listeners. It aims to reveal the politeness principles used during the conversations of the radio programs. It deployed a Content Analysis combined with recording technique for the data collecting technique. Meanwhile, the analysis applied a Pragmatics Matching method through a Contextual Approach. The finding revealed the speaker’s compliance and violation of the politeness principles.
