Abstract

Empowerment is an essential strategy for fostering ecological citizenship. One of the strategies implemented is empowerment to manage and reduce waste accumulation. This research aims to identify strategies to enhance the value of ecological citizenship in waste bank management. This research employs a literature review, conducted by searching various electronic databases to identify literature relevant to the discussion to be presented. The results obtained from this research are as follows: 1) Several approaches are taken to empower waste bank management, known as 5P, including enabling, strengthening, protecting, supporting, and maintaining. 2) The strategy to strengthen ecological citizenship through the Gold Kitiran waste bank community in sustainable waste management is carried out in four stages: environmental knowledge, skills, attitudes, and participation. 3) Obstacles in implementing strategies to strengthen ecological citizenship through waste bank communities in sustainable waste management are divided into internal and external obstacles. These results indicate that community empowerment within waste banks can improve ecological welfare.

Abstract

The principal's strategy in strengthening ecological citizenship is a way of instilling an attitude of caring for the environment in schools. The aims of this study were to: (1) Describe the principal's strategy in the program to strengthen ecological citizenship, (2) Describe the supporting and inhibiting factors in the implementation of the program to strengthen ecological citizenship, (3) Describe the evaluation of the implementation of the program to strengthen ecological citizenship at SMPN 1 Ngebel. This research is a qualitative research with a case study approach. Collecting data in this study are observation, interviews as well as documentation and data analysis techniques in this study namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions.The results of this study are: (1) The principal's strategy in strengthening ecological citizenship can be carried out in three ways or activities, namely having a vision and mission related to environmental preservation, an understanding of issues, rights and responsibilities towards the environment and the existence of excellent programs in schools . (2) Factors supporting a location that is still beautiful and green, internal inhibiting factors for students' habit of littering and external inhibiting factors for environmental care habits that are in contrast between the environment and at school (3) The form of program evaluation with context evaluation by compiling a vision and mission regarding environment and input evaluation by providing facilities and infrastructure
