Abstract

Background: Exposure of metals among dental technicians that come from the working environment can lead to the formation reactive oxygen species (ROS). ROS can cause mutations in the p53 gene (p53). The mutation is transversion mutation GuanineThymine. p53 mutations can lead to low expression of the wild-type p53 protein (p53). Wild-type p53 involved in many biological processes such as regulation of genes involved in cell cycle, cell growth after DNA damage, and apoptosis. However, exposure to metals among dental technicians can be prevented through the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during work. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between the use of personal protective equipment to wild-type p53 protein levels among dental technicians in Surabaya. Method: This study was observational analytic with cross sectional approach. 40 samples were taken by random sampling. Data were retrieved through interviews and observations. Wild-type p53 was analyzed from saliva with indirect ELISA method. Analysis of data used Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test and a Pearson correlation test. Value significance was p<0.05 (95% confidence level). Result: There was a significant association between the use of personal protective equipment with wild-type p53 levels with p=0.002 Conclusion: The use PPE properly is positively correlated with the wild-type p53 protein levels of dental technicians in Surabaya.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPendahuluan: Nyeri merupakan pengalaman sensorik dan emosional yang tidak menyenangkan akibat kerusakan jaringan. Senyawa metabolit sekunder flavonoid dan steroid ekstrak daun Trembesi (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) berfungsi sebagai analgesik dengan menghambat mediator-mediator inflamasi sehingga pelepasan asam arakidonat dan kerja enzim siklooksigenase terblokir. Tujuan penelitian menganalisis efek analgesik ekstrak daun Trembesi terhadap mencit putih (Mus musculus). Metode: Penelitian eksperimental laboratoris ini menggunakan teknik simple random sampling dengan sampel 30 ekor mencit dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok. Ekstrak daun trembesi yang digunakan dosis 25 mg/kgBB, 50 mg/kgBB, 100 mg/kgBB, kontrol negatif CMC.Na 0,5%, dan kontrol positif asetosal, pada masing-masing kelompok mencit putih jantan diberikan secara per oral, kemudian diinduksi nyeri dengan asam asetat 1% secara intraperitonial. Jumlah geliat mencit diamati setiap 5 menit selama 30 menit, lalu dihitung presentase efektivitas analgesiknya dengan membandingkan persentase proteksi analgesik kelompok senyawa uji terhadap persentase proteksi analgesik kelompok kontrol positif. Hasil: Ekstrak daun Trembesi dosis 100 mg/kgBB memberikan efek analgesik yang lebih besar yaitu 76,62% dibandingkan dengan ekstrak daun Trembesi dosis 25 mg/kgBB (24,63%) dan 50 mg/kgBB (49,34%).  Nilai signifikansi hasil uji Kruskal Wallis sebesar 0,001 sehingga dapat diartikan terdapat perbedaan efektivitas analgesik ekstrak daun Trembesi yang signifikan antar kelompok. Simpulan: Terdapat efek analgesik ekstrak daun Trembesi (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) pada mencit putih (Mus musculus).Kata kunci: nyeri; analgesik; samanea saman, tikus putih ABSTRACTIntroduction: Pain is an sensory and emotional unpleasant experience because of tissue damage. Secondary metabolites of flavonoids and steroids from Trembesi (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) leaf extract have a function as analgesics by inhibiting inflammatory mediators so the release of arachidonic acid and the action of the cyclooxygenase enzyme is blocked. This study aimed to analyzed the analgesic effect of Trembesi leaf extract on white mice (Mus musculus). Methods: This experimental laboratory study used a simple random sampling technique with 30 mice samples divided into 5 groups. Trembesi leaf extract used was dose of 25 mg/kgBW, 50 mg/kgBW, 100 mg/kgBW, negative control CMC.Na 0.5%, and positive control Acetosal, given oral to each group, then induced pain with 1% acetic acid intraperitoneally. Number of stretching mice was observed every 5 minutes for 30 minutes, then the percentage of analgesic effectiveness was calculated by comparing the percentage of analgesic protection of the test group to the percentage of analgesic protection of the positive control group. Results: Trembesi leaf extract at a dose of 100 mg/kgBW gave a great analgesic effect, 76.62% compared to Trembesi leaf extract at a dose of 25 mg/kgBW (24.63%) and 50 mg/kgBW (49.34%). The significance value of the Kruskal Wallis test results is 0.001 so it can be interpreted that there is a significant difference in the analgesic effectiveness of Trembesi leaf extract between groups. Conclusion: There is an analgesic effect of Trembesi (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Abstract

Merr.) dapat menjadi salah satu tanaman alternatif herbal sebagai analgesik. Senyawa metabolit sekunder flavonoid dan steroid pada ekstrak daun Trembesi (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) dapat berfungsi sebagai analgesik dengan cara menghambat mediator-mediator inflamasi dengan cara menghambat pelepasan asam arakidonat, sehingga kerja enzim siklooksigenase terblokir. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui efek analgesik ekstrak daun Trembesi (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) terhadap mencit putih (Mus Musculus). Merr.) dosis 25 mg/kgBB dan 50 mg/kgBB yang hanya memberikan efek analgesik sebesar 34,7% dan 23,1%. Disimpulkan bahwa terdapat efek analgesik ekstrak daun Trembesi (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) pada mencit putih (Mus Musculus).

Abstract

Dental technicians cannot avoid being exposed to various physical, chemical, and biological agents due to their work environment. Therefore, technicians must control the work environment according to standard procedures to protect themselves from metal exposure in the workplace. Metal exposure can cause a decrease in the wild P53 gene. This study aims to determine the correlation between work environment control and wild P53 level among dental technicians. This was an analytic observational study with a cross sectional approach. There were 40 randomly selected samples. Data were derived through interviews and observation. Wild P53 was examined from saliva by indirect ELISA method. Data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test with the significance value of p<0.05 (95% confidence level). The results showed that there was a significant correlation between work environment control and wild P53 level with a significance value of p<0.05. It was further obtained a Spearman's correlation value of 0.436. Such finding indicated a positive correlation value, meaning that the higher the score of work environment control performed by dental technicians while working on metal prostheses, the higher the P53wild level. It can be concluded that there was a significant correlation between work environment control and wild P53 level. The better and more correct the implementation of work environment control, the higher the wild P53 level. Future researchers are recommended to observe the effect of variables with other genotoxic markers on the effect of work environment controls among dental technicians.

Abstract

Background: Nosocomial infections or Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) are infections that occur in hospitals and attack patients undergoing treatment. Dental professional student as health workers who are very vulnerable to the spread of cross- infection, so they need to understand the importance of using personal protective equipment as a first step in prevention. Objectives: This study aims to determine the correlation between the level of knowledge of Dental Professional Students on compliance with using personal protective equipment (PPE) at Dental and Oral Hospital Bhakti Wiyata Institute of Health Science Kediri. Methods: This study is a type of analytical observational research with a cross sectional design. The data obtained, processed, analyzed, and interpreted to test the hypothesis using the chi square test are presented in table form with variable data scales are ordinal and nominal. Results: The significance value of chi square in the data is 0.001 Asymp. Sig. (2- tailed). A p value of < 0.05 means that there is a significant relationship. Conclusion: There is a correlation between the level of knowledge of dental professional students on compliance with using PPE at Dental and Oral Hospital Bhakti Wiyata Institute of Health Science Kediri

Abstract

Background: Orthodontic treatment will take longer to fail and the benefits of orthodontic treatment will be reduced. Plaque control is divided into two, mechanical plaque control and chemical plaque control. Chemical plaque control can be done by gargling with commercial mouthwash and natural ingredients such as pineapple. Pineapple fruit contains bromelain enzyme, tannin, flavonoids, steroids, fiber and water. Objective: To determine the effect of pineapple juice gargling on plaque accumulation in fixed orthodontic users. Methods: This research design is pre experimental with one group pretest posttest design. The research subjects were 30 samples. Plaque accumulation was measured using Ortho-Plaque Index with disclosing agent gel to detect the presence of plaque before and after treatment. Results: Data were analyzed using parametric hypothesis testing, namely Paired T-Test, which obtained a significance value of 0.000. Conclusion: There is a difference before and after gargling pineapple juice on plaque accumulation in users of fixed orthodontics.

Abstract

Abstrak, Masalah kesehatan gigi mulut berdasarkan hasil RISKESDAS selama 2 periode terakhir masih menjadi permasalahan di Indonesia. Mahalnya biaya tindakan kedokteran gigi menjadi alasan masyarakat enggan datang untuk periksa ke dokter gigi. Pencabutan gigi merupakan perawatan yang sering dilakukan tetapi edukasi tentang hal yang boleh dan tidak boleh dilakukan setelah pencabutan gigi masih sering menjadi pertanyaan banyak pasien. Tujuan penelitian ini memberikan pelayanan pencabutan gigi gratis beserta edukasi pasca pencabutan gigi dengan memanfaatkan artificial intelligence (AI). Kegiatan yang bekerja sama PT. Unilever Indonesia Tbk ini berlangsung tanggal 18-20 September 2024. Pencabutan gigi gratis diberikan kepada masyarakat yang datang ke RSGM IIK Bhakti Wiyata dilanjutkan sesi edukasi pasca pencabutan gigi menggunakan media yang memanfaatkan artificial intelligence berupa flyer digital produk canva. Sebanyak 47 pasien telah menerima pencabutan gigi gratis yang kemudian diberikan edukasi “Do’s Don’ts Post Tooth Extraction” secara digital. Pasien memahami isi edukasi dengan baik karena dikemas praktis dengan flyer digital. Pasien antusias dengan pelayanan pencabutan gigi gratis dan memahami dengan baik edukasi pasca pencabutan gigi dengan memanfaatkan artificial intelligence. Abstract. Oral health problems based on RISKESDAS results for the last 2 periods are still a problem in Indonesia. The high cost of dental procedures is the reason why people are reluctant to come to see a dentist. Tooth extraction is often carried out, but education about what can and cannot be done after tooth extraction is still a frequent question for many patients. This study aims is to providing free tooth extraction services along with post-tooth extraction education by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). Activities in collaboration with PT. Unilever Indonesia Tbk will take place from 18-20 September 2024. Free tooth extractions are given to people who come to RSGM IIK Bhakti Wiyata followed by post-tooth extraction education sessions using media that utilizes artificial intelligence in the form of digital flyers for Canva products. Results. A total of 47 patients received free tooth extractions and were then given digital "Do's Don'ts Post Tooth Extraction" education. Patients understand the educational content well because it is packaged practically with digital flyers. Patients are enthusiastic about the free tooth extraction service and understand post-tooth extraction education using artificial intelligence well.
