Abstract

This research was conducted from April 2020 to October 2020 entitled "Diversity of Tree Species at Syiah Kuala University". The data collection technique was performed through a survey of 21 observation plots including faculties, office units, worship facilities, health facilities and other supporting facilities. The data analysis includes the Important Value (NP) and Species Diversity Index (H'). The results showed that the species composition of trees growing on the campus of Syiah Kuala University were 46 species belonging to 27 families. Six tree species that had relatively high importance value compared to others, namely Pterocarpus indicus (19.61%), Swietenia mahagoni (19.56%), Polyathia longifolia (12.76%), Mimusops elengi (12.48%), Roystonia regia (12.27%), and Samanea saman (10.176%). The Diversity Index (H') of those tree species ranged from 1.549 to 2.634. The conclusion is that the tree species composition was relatively limited when compared to the Cronquist classification, and the tree species diversity index was in the medium category.

Abstract

Syiah Kuala University is one of the public universities in Banda Aceh, where each office unit has an Open Green Space (OGS). The green space is planted by plants, both intentionally and wildly. There are several plant habitus, including herbs, shrubs, and trees. There is no information on the list of flora species on the campus of Syiah Kuala University. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out an inventory of plant species in the campus area has been carried out. The study was conducted using a survey method at 21 observation sites. The survey results show that there are 130 species from 41 families. Species with the highest number of species were Poaceae, Asteraceae, and Arecaceae. The most common habitats found were trees (50.77%), herbs (28.46%), shrubs (16.92%), and bush (3.86%). The species are trees intentionally planted for the open green space to function as a shade or shelter.

Abstract

Inventory of postpartum care plants is a collection of types of plants used by the community in healing postpartum care. This study aims to find out the types, parts, and ways of processing plants used in postpartum care as well as conservation efforts made to plants that have the potential as postpartum care in Singkil District, Aceh Singkil Regency. The research was conducted in July until August 2020, and data collected using a qualitative descriptive method with structural observations and interviews. The data source taken was 50 respondents consisting of 10 physicians, 10 midwives, and 30 mothers who had given birth. Data analysis is done descriptively using a qualitative approach. The results of the study obtained 31 species of plants used for postpartum care, parts of plants used to consist of fruit, seeds, stems, flowers, leaves, tubers, and rhizomes, the processing was carried out by boiling and grinding.

Abstract

The presence of vegetation in an area will positively impact the balance of the ecosystem on a broader scale. Herbs play an important role in maintaining vegetation conditions and cycling of plant growth in an area. The study aimed to determine the composition of vegetation, important values , and diversity index (Ĥ) of herbs in the Putroe Aloeh Tourism Area, Jeumpa District, and Southwest Aceh District. The method used is the observation method with the subjective determination of stations and plots using the quadratic method. Research stations as many as seven include; the downstreams left side of the river, the downstream right side of the river, the left middle side of the river, the middle right side, of the river the upstream left side of the river, the upstream right side of the river, and the surrounding forest. Each station is placed in 10 square plots measuring 2 x 2 m. Parameters observed include; absolute density (KM) of species, absolute frequency (FM) of species, and absolute dominance (DM) of species. Data analysis included the Important Value (IV) of species’ Important Value (IV) y Index (Ĥ). Based on the research results, it is known that there are 50 herb species consisting of 26 families. The dominating family is Asteraceae (20%). The species with the highest category of importance value was Selaginella doederleinii (IV = 48.48), while the species with the lowest category were Emilia sonchifolia and Cyperus strigosus (IV = 0.16). The diversity index of herbaceous species at the study site was medium (Ĥ= 2.43).

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems, characterized by their unique adaptation to intertidal zones along coastlines and river estuaries, play a crucial role in coastal ecology. This study investigated the composition and diversity of mangrove vegetation in Mesjid Raya District, Aceh Besar Regency. Employing a quantitative approach with purposive sampling, nine plots measuring 10x10 meters were established across three stations with varying physical environmental conditions, totaling 90 plots. Vegetation analysis revealed the presence of nine mangrove species belonging to five families. The Shannon diversity index (Ĥ) indicated a low level of species diversity within the studied mangrove communities.

Abstract

Bener Meriah Regency is one of the regencies in Aceh Province where several schools have implemented the Independent Curriculum. The results of interviews conducted with the Chairperson of the Subject Teachers' Deliberation (MGMP) for Biology in Bener Meriah Regency showed that high school/vocational high school biology teachers did not yet fully understand the development of the Independent Curriculum teaching module. This activity aims to improve teacher competence related to the development of the Independent Curriculum teaching module so that teachers have the knowledge to develop modules for the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in their schools. The data for this study used a questionnaire with an instrument consisting of 5 statements regarding the development of the Independent Curriculum teaching module for high school/vocational high school biology teachers in Bener Meriah Regency. The data is presented descriptively. The results of the activity show that high school/vocational high school biology teachers in Bener Meriah Regency agree with the development of the Independent Curriculum teaching module. This is indicated by the percentage of questionnaire results obtained, namely 93% of biology teachers chose to agree with the freedom of an educator in choosing and modifying teaching tools and 100% of biology teachers chose to agree with the objectives of the teaching module, the needs of students, the criteria for teaching modules, and the objectives of developing teaching modules. The enthusiasm of the participants, the survey results, and the modules produced by the teachers prove the success of this activity.
