Abstract

The Indonesian adolescents’ knowledge on the subject of puberty is very limited according to a national data survey. This is the reason this study aims to increase knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of healthy living during the puberty phase through the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) method of classroom action research with cyclical procedures. The participants were 20 students and a teacher of fifth-year at the elementary school; meanwhile, the object was knowledge about puberty, collected through test questions and observations. The data analysis technique was conducted in a quantitative and qualitative descriptive manner, and the result showed that the method used was able to improve the knowledge, attitudes, and healthy living behavior of fifth-grade students in SDIT Mutiara Insan. This is evident in the pre-cycle with a percentage of 5.3%, which further increased to 15.8% in the first cycle, while in the second cycle, it increased to 94.7%.

Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) is a program implemented in schools with the aim of forming student character through project-based learning. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of P5 in forming environmentally conscious characters in elementary schools. This study uses a qualitative method, with a narrative research design involving principal, one teacher, four students and four parents in one of the schools located in Cibitung District, Bekasi Regency, West Java Province, which was selected using the opportunistic sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation studies. Inductive and thematic data analysis was carried out to identify, ignite, and create themes expressed by assistance participants with NVivo 12. This study resulted in the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) in elementary schools successfully forming students' characters who care about the environment, are responsible, and creative in managing waste, supported by a waste exchange system for money. However, recommendations for further research are the need for strategies to overcome challenges such as difficulty sorting waste and student differences.

Abstract

Blang Pegayon Subdistrict, Gayo Lues Regency, is one of the regions with high biodiversity and is renowned for its role in traditional medicine. This study aimed to identify the medicinal plant species used by local communities, the plant parts utilized, processing methods, and conservation strategies applied. The research population consisted of residents of Blang Pegayon Subdistrict, Gayo Lues Regency, with purposive sampling involving 48 respondents from six villages based on the presence of traditional medicinal plant use, including both key and non-key informants. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, plant identification using the Picture This application and the Plants of the World Online (POWO) database, and documentation. The data were analyzed descriptively. The findings revealed 51 medicinal plant species belonging to 29 families. The leaf was the most frequently used plant part (58%), while the most common processing method was pounding (26%). Conservation efforts were carried out through cultivation in home gardens (40%), planting in fields or farms (40%), and the use of wild plants from surrounding environments (20%). The results of this study are expected to provide valuable information for the development of future sustainable research. Keyword: etnobotany; conservation; traditional; medicine plant.

Abstract

Differentiated learning is a strategy that customizes learning content, processes, and activities to accommodate the diverse needs of students. It is a key approach for addressing the varied learning styles and abilities within a classroom. This study aims to identify the categories of differentiated learning module design, the implementation of differentiated learning, and the opportunities and challenges faced by teachers. The research uses a qualitative approach with a survey research design. The population consists of all science teachers at SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh, totalling five individuals. This study used a total sampling technique. The research parameters include categories of differentiated learning module design, categories of differentiated learning implementation in classroom, and the opportunities and challenges encountered by teachers. Data analysis was conducted using percentage calculations based on Guttman scale scoring. The results show that the science teachers’ differentiated learning modules have an average score of 86%, which falls into the good category. The implementation of differentiated learning reached 96.6%, classified as very good. Teachers viewed differentiated learning as providing opportunities to improve learning outcomes, student engagement, the use of technology, and the development of teacher competencies. However, the obstacles faced included difficulties in adjusting to student needs, limited resources, and unequal access to technology.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum emphasizes innovation, flexibility, and students’ ability to adapt to the demands of the 21st century. To support its implementation, teachers are required to develop high-quality learning tools that facilitate active and meaningful learning. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of Discovery Learning-based learning tools integrated with virtual laboratory media on the topic of the human digestive system and to investigate teachers’ perceptions of the developed learning tools. A quantitative approach with a descriptive research design was employed. The research subjects consisted of two education and media experts, three biology teachers at SMA Negeri 2 Banda Aceh, and 30 twelfth-grade students who had previously studied the human digestive system. The developed learning tools included teaching modules, Student Worksheets (LKPD), and virtual laboratory media. The learning tools were evaluated using Gregory’s validity test and interrater reliability with Cohen’s Kappa, while the test instruments were analyzed using Aiken’s V, Product Moment validity, Cronbach’s Alpha reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination index. Teachers’ perceptions were analyzed using the average percentage method. The results indicated that all Discovery Learning-based learning tools achieved a “very valid” category, while teachers’ perceptions were categorized as “very good.” These findings demonstrate that the developed learning tools meet the required standards of validity and practicality, making them appropriate for supporting biology learning on the human digestive system topic under the Merdeka Curriculum.
