Abstract

This article proposes a cultural turn in Islamic economics education by integrating local wisdom through the strategic use of educational technology. While Islamic economics has witnessed remarkable global growth since the establishment of the Islamic Development Bank in 1975, its educational frameworks remain dominated by normative and centralized paradigms—often neglecting the social and cultural realities of local Muslim communities. In multicultural nations such as Indonesia, local wisdom represents more than cultural identity; it embodies ethical traditions, economic practices, and communal values aligned with Shariah principles. Drawing on a normative-conceptual approach, this study highlights the epistemological gap within Islamic economics education and argues for the incorporation of kearifan lokal (local wisdom) as a foundational element of curricular design. Technologies such as AI-driven content personalization, ethnographic digital archives, multimedia storytelling, and community-based learning simulations are explored as transformative tools to preserve, contextualize, and disseminate local economic knowledge. These tools enable a more inclusive and adaptive educational model that not only reinforces the objectives of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, but also aligns with the lived realities and cultural imaginaries of diverse Muslim societies. By bridging the divide between global Islamic economic frameworks and local experiences, this article calls for a reorientation of pedagogy—one that is technologically inclusive, culturally grounded, and epistemologically restorative.

Abstract

The problem faced by cooperatives is their poor service management, professionalism, and financial performance, which have not significantly impacted the existence of the cooperative and its members. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve knowledge about good cooperative management through community service in the form of training and mentoring. This community service aims to improve the management of the KOPJAS cooperative in managing its finances and services, so that it can progress and develop. The community service method used is a qualitative method with a training and mentoring model based on Islamic teachings. As a result, the management of the KOPJAS cooperative must be carried out professionally and responsibly in its services and finances, so that it can realize a cooperative that is advanced and developing in accordance with Islamic teachings. Many Quranic verses and Hadiths teach Islamic values, such as mutual assistance and helping those in need within a family. Through cooperatives, Islamic values can be applied in the form of excellent service management, financial management, and professionalism of management, in advancing the cooperative so that it can contribute more to society. The progress and development of cooperatives is evidenced by the establishment of charitable enterprises such as stalls, MSMEs, and others that support the increase in capital and profits of the cooperative and the welfare of its members and the community.

Abstract

This community service initiative is based on the suboptimal role of Muhammadiyah mosques as centers of economic empowerment for the ummah, as they are still predominantly focused on ritual functions. Historically, however, mosques have played a strategic role in strengthening the socio-economic fabric of society. In PCM Banguntapan Selatan, the potential of congregants’ micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is quite significant, yet it has not been integrated into a mosque-based economic ecosystem. Therefore, the Masjidpreneur program was designed to transform the mosque into a sharia-based center for community economic empowerment. The approach employed is Participatory Action Research (PAR), implemented through stages including needs identification, program formulation, sharia-based entrepreneurship training, MSME mentoring, strengthening mosque economic management, as well as monitoring and evaluation. This approach emphasizes the active participation of both congregants and mosque administrators. The results of the program indicate a transformation in the mosque’s function into a center for economic empowerment, an increase in the entrepreneurial capacity of congregants, the establishment of an embryo of a mosque-based MSME incubator, and the strengthening of more professional and sustainable mosque economic governance. In addition, institutional synergy was fostered among the mosque, Muhammadiyah, and ‘Aisyiyah in building a community-based economic ecosystem. The Masjidpreneur model is effective in promoting the integration of the mosque’s spiritual and economic functions and holds strong potential for replication as a community-based economic empowerment model within the framework of Islamic economics.

Abstract

Regional government equity participation is a policy instrument to strengthen the role of Regional Development Banks (BPD) in supporting regional economic development. However, its effectiveness varies across BPDs, depending on their internal conditions, one of which is digitalization. This study aims to analyze the impact of regional government equity participation and digitalization on BPD performance and examine the role of digitalization in strengthening this role. The results show that regional government equity participation has a positive contribution to improving bank performance, and digitalization strengthens this role. These findings indicate that equity participation and digitalization together play a significant role in supporting the strengthening of BPD performance.
