Abstract

Masalah dalam produksi nata de coco adalah keterbatasan air kelapa sebagai bahan baku. Kendala lain adalah bahwa air kelapa tidak dapat disimpan untuk waktu yang lama yang diakibatkan kerusakan nutrisi dalam air kelapa oleh mikroba. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai efek dari mikroba dan konsentrasi nutrisi pada produksi nata dengan menggunakan air tawar sebagai bahan baku. Produksi nata dengan menggunakan substrat air dilakukan dengan menambahkan gula sukrosa (gula) 10%, urea 0,5%, asam glacial asetat 2 % atau cuka dapur 25% sebanyak 16 ml / liter air kelapa. Nata pembuatan dilakukan melalui tahapan sebagai berikut: peremajaan kultur A. xylinum, preparasi substrat, preparasi starter, fermentasi, pemanenan produk, dan evaluasi hasil. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa jenis air yang memberikan kualitas terbaik berasal dari air mineral dengan pendidihan terlebih dahulu. Hasil yang sama juga menunjukkan dari nata berasal dari air sumur. Kekurangan nata de coco yang dihasilkan dari air adalah rendemen yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan nata yang dihasilkan dari media air kelapa. Karakteristik lain dari nata yang dihasilkan dari air adalah elastisitas produk yang sama, kadar abu yang rendah, dan warna putih.

Abstract

The study of additional effect of butylated hydroxy toluene (BHT)on extraction quality of crude,degummed,and bleached castor oil has been conducted.This study was aimed at elaborating the effect of BHT addition on every castor oil processing step e.g crude oil extraction,oil degumming,and oil bleaching.Such results were compared to those without BHT addition.To know the quality reduction of these oil extraction some parameters were treated namely FFA level and peroxide value.The BHT concentrations applied were 0.1 and 0,2% and the effect of these addition were monitored during 4 hours with 1 hour testing interval.The result shows that FFA level and feroxide value on bleaching step were lower than those of crude oil extraction and degummuing process.However antioxidant of BHT addition was able to reduce FFA and peroxide value compared to those wihout BHT and these data is very beautiful to know earlier if the oil processed can be processed better further and to prevent unwanted product.

Abstract

This study was aimed at predicting "dendeng" (Spiced dried meat)shelf life employing the application of arrhenius kinetics.It was based on the moisture content increase,the oxygen consumption. And colour changes of dendeng. The experiment were conducted at there temperature levels i.e. 25 degree C,35 degree C,and 45 degree C and Rh 60%.The Factor strongly influenced in predicting shelf life was temperature.The Arrhenius kinetics method based on oxygen consumption showed good result since it gave the short test shelf life.

Abstract

This study described about analysis of processing ,financial and SWOT (strength weakness,opportunities,and threats) for jackfruit  vacuum frying processing for vacuum frying of jackfruit the frying condition (pressure and temperature ) frying rate,and organoleptik test were investigated.the jackfruit are submerged in heated solid frying oil induce vavorization of the water from the jackfruit . this was conducted under vacuum pressure of-70 cm Hg ,and temperature level of 75 0C and 80 0C  such condition was done to minimize the heat used and therefore reduce changes in composition, color ,taste, and flavor of the jackfruit the results showed that the product has low moisture content of 3.58% ( wet basis)with the taste,flavor ,color, and volume similar to the fresh jackfruit .this experiment was conducted using 3 kg of jackfruit ,the yield of the product was 22% and the total water removal was 2510 ml. it finalcial analysis was conducted to evaluate the financial viability of jackfruit processing.financial analsyis of the jackfruit production capacity of 30 kg per day showed that NPV  (net present value) was rp 52.391.000 which was bigger than investment cost,IRR( internal rate return) was 51% and PBP(pay back period

Abstract

Senyawa epoksi merupakan produk komersial yang dapat diterapkan untuk beberapa tujuan seperti plasticizer, stabilizer, dan coating resin polimer, serta antioksidan dalam pengolahan karet alam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat senyawa epoksi berbasis minyak sawit kasar dengan melakukan optimasi proses dengan variabel pelarut, suhu, dan katalis. Penelitian ini menggunakan bahan aku minyak kelapa sawit (CPO), katalis amberlite, H2SO4, H2O2, benzena, heksana, dan asam format. Parameter yang diamati meliputi bilangan oksigen oksiran, bilangan iod, bilangan asam, bilangan penyabunan, dan fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR. Hasil penelitian menunjukan semakin tinggi perbandingan H2O2 dan asam formiat menyebabkan pembentukan senyawa epoksi yang semakin baik ditunjukan dengan bilangan oksiran yang semakin tinggi.Perbandingan yang optimum antara H2O2, dan asam formiat adalah 2:1 Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kondisi yang optimal pembuatan epoxy diperoleh dengan menggunakan pelarut benzene sebanyak 25% dari CPO, katalis amberlite, pada suhu 70C selama 6jam. Hasil analisis menunjukan bilangan oksigen oksiran 6, 20% bilangan iodium 12,6 (g iod/100g), bilangan asam 8,96 (mg KOH/g), bilangan penyabunan 202 (mg. KOH/g).

Abstract

Studi ini dirancang untuk membuat suatu hubungan antara "Pressure drop" dan kecepatan aliran udara dalam suatu proses pengeringan dengan menggunakan spouted bed dryer. Percobaan dilakukan dengan mengggunakan "Coloumn" penuh berdiameter 0,27 m dan menggunakan bahan jagung pipil dan "celcon". Percobaan dilakukan dengan berbagai ketinggian tumpukan yaitu 35 cm, 40 cm, 43 cm, dan 57 cm dan suhu udara 24 derajat celcius, 35 derajat celcius, dan 40 derajat celcius. Hasil Percobaan disajikan dalam bentuk kurva hubungan antara pressure drop" (kpa)dan kecepatan aliran udara "superficial" (m/s). Secara umum kurva yang dihasilkan dalam percobaan dengan menggunakan "coloumn" penuh ternyata mempunyai pola yang serupa dengan kurva berdasarkan percobaan dengan menggunakan setengah "coloumn".

Abstract

Rolling oil is one kind of the lubricants which is used for metal working especially for cold rolling mill (CRM), roll collant, roll oil and pickle oil.Mostly, lubricat based rolling oil was derived from mineral or synthetic oil where its source has been depleted. Castor oil has some advantages to be employed for lubricants or rolling oil based materials since it has high load wear index lubricity, and viscosity as well as low pour point. This research was aimed at investigating the production of rolling oil using castor oil with oxidation treatment. Chitosan was also used to know its effect on rolling oil characteristics. The method of rolling oil production was designed y adding NaHSO4 as catalyst into castor oil, dehydrating of castor oil at 200 C during three hour, cooling of castor oil at room temperature, dissolving buthylated hydroxy toluene (BHT), dehydrating oil (oxidation) at 100 C during 8 hours, addition of 1 %, 3 % and 5 % of chitosan solution into oil, and dissolving O-fenilfenol into oil with oxidation treatment showed better result in term of acid number, iodine number, viscosity, and density. The best result of experiments was showed for the oxidixed rolling oil with dehydrated treatment with 5 % chitosan aolution which has acid value 1,1 mg KOH/gr oil, iodine number 59,3 gr iod/100 gr oil, saponification value 196,9 mg KOH/g oil, viscisity 180, 6 cps, density 0,97 gr/ml. In coclusion higher chitosan concentration resulted lower acid and saponification value. On the Other hand higher chitosan concentration affected higher iodine number and viscosity.

Abstract

Deodorizing and reaction time of degumming are some of the most important factors that can affect the quality refined vegetable oils or its derivatives. The results of unit operations in doedorizing and degumming give low viability of product especially produced by vegetable oils smallholder industry in Indonesia. To increase quality of those and income producer there is a need to enhance process by introducing appropriate equipments. This study was devoted in designing and testing centrifuge for degumming of crude vegetable oils (Palm kernel oil) and vacuum deodorizer using jet pump for refining oils. The maximum capacity of sentifuge constructed is 12 liters and it was equipped with four container and 1 horse power of induction motor. The performance test of centrifuge showed reaction time for degumming was two hours with maximum impurities or gums (7%). This reaction time is shorter than those of conventional degumming process using settling tank e.g all night reaction time. Deodorizer reactor has capacity of 40 liters oil processed, and it is generated with 1,1 hp of induction motor. steam from small boiler unit was introduced to the doedorized tank to reduces impurities and free fatty acid (FFA). The reactor was equipped with metal heater element of 5000 watt which immersed in silicon oil as heating medium and it was covered by insulator. The reaction temperature of deodorizing process was 160 degree celcius. Palm kernel oil quality processed by vacuum deodorizer tested e.g. free fatty acid (FFA) was 0,03%, peroxide number was 3,03 meq/kg, moisture content was 0,94%,anisidin number was 3,97, and color were yellow and red (0,4 and 7). It means that those results of refined palm kernel oil caracteristics meet the standard required.

Abstract

This study was designed to analyze the effects of chitosa-formic addtition to retanning of leather and printing proces of textile .the type of leather used was boks leather and those for textile consist of polyester,polyacrylic,contton, and nylon. chitosan was extracted from shrimps and crab shells which produced from shrimp shells, crab shells,and mixture from those shell was then mixed with formic acid(3%) to produce chitosan-formic with the concentration of 7.5% for each treatment.in retaning leather ,chitosan-formic was used as filling agents meanwhile in printing textiles these was applied for the low quality leather and itsesults was compared with the leather without chitosan-formic addition in textiles printing chitosan-formic was printed with any kids dyestuff and materials such condition was applicable only when it usedas singles dyestuff meanwhile when it as applied with other auxiliaries chotosan-formic was not complatibe for the rest of destuff and textilles material.

Abstract

A study was The study was aimed at designing adsorption and desorption model of "dendeng" by investigating its static equlibrium moisture content conducted at 30 degree C and 40 degree C,relative humidity (RH)level 32,43,62,63.5,75,80,and 81% for adsorption model,and11,32,43,62,63.5,755 for desorption model.Six model of courie bradley,halsey,oswin,and clen-clayton were employed and modified to investigate a model which appropriate for "dendeng"composition.Before gaining the models and cerves it were initally calculated some constants.The modification of cauries model gave the best results for both adsorption and desorption condition.Â
