Abstract

Chitosan is produced commercially in large scale from the other shell of crusteceans as shrimp and crab. At moment chitosan is not used in pharmacy industry but could for other industry as cosmetic, food and beverages,. In cosmetic industry as for skin care preparation like skin lotion, chitosan used for humectant, emulsifier and  stabilizer. The aim of this resarch is to study the effect of chitosan as humectant, emulsifier and stabilizer in hand and body lotion formulation. In this experiment, chitosan was added to hand body lotion product wuth several cocentration level e.g. (F1) without chitosan; (F2) 3 ppm of chitosan; (F3) 5 ppm of chitosan; (F4) 10 ppm of chitosan and (F5) 25 ppm of chitosan. Hand and body lotion produced was tested with some testing parameters including homogenity, pH, viscosity, emulsion stability, evaporated and organoleptic for colour, aroma and stickiness. The result showed that the best treatment was F3 (5 ppm of chitosan), the best of homogeneity level, everages pH 6,37, viscosity 1660 cps, evaporation only 78,29 % and organoleptic test score averages was 4,02.

Abstract

The study was aimed at designing and testing of chitosan (polymer) extractor by demineralization, deproteinization, and deacetylation from shrimps shells. the equipment was generated with induction motor of 0.5hp (horse power) and equipped with liquid heater and thermostat in order to maintain temperature level of the process .the blade or propeller agitator was mounted off center.the demineralization process were conducted at 70-75 0C with choloric acid of 1.25 N and 1.5 hours and 2 hours period of process treatment .meanwhile deproteinization were employed at 80-85 0C using sodium hidroxide 3% w/v in the same hours treatment as the demineralization process. sodium hidroxide of 50% (w/v)was employed in the same hours treatment as the demineralization process .which operated at 100-110 0C in the same hours variation of treatment the result showed that thwe best quality chitosan was obtained with demineralization , and deacetylation process which were conducted for 2 hours and 2 run of each process. these were indicated by viscosity resulted e.g 18000 cps (centipoises

Abstract

The objectives of this research were(1)to study the effects of fixation time on distillation for lemon leather,(2) to investigate chemical composition of lemon oil (flavor),and (3)to apply lemon flavor on soft drink simulation .the method used in resulting lemon oil was water-steam distillation continued by the second 3 hours .the results show that lemon oil produced during the fist there hours distillation was higher (1.738%) than those resulted from the second three hours distillation (o.701%) based on gas chromatography test, lemon oil resulted contain a-pinen,b-pinen,limonen, linalool and sitral (neral and gerenial) these were identified by measuring peak enrichment three formulas were used on the application of lemon oil or flavor on soft drink namely (1)mixture of cellulose microcrystalline ,sorbitol, and lemon oil (2) mixture of cellulose microcystalline ,sucrose and lemon oil and (3)whey powder, tricalcium phosphat, and lemon oil .based on the organoleptic test and larmond scale the preferred soft drink was from cellulose microcystalline, sorbitol, and lemon oil. with citric oil additions.

Abstract

Heat pump drying (HPD) is one of innovative drying methods due to many advantages in drying for agricultural, food, and timber product.HPD is a drying can employ significant reduction of the energy consumption by energy recovery from condensation humudity.Comparing to orther drying methods such as fluidized, spouted, vaccum drying,HPD was leading in high water removal (kg H2O/kw/hour), wide operating drying temperature scale, wide operating humidity, better quality products, and low operational cost.So far HPD still has some limitation in its application such as the use of CFCs (Cloro fluoro carbon)as refrigerant that is not environmental friendlier, needs regular maintenance for all components of drying system including refrigerant charging, the possilibities for leak of refrigerant, and increase of operational cost.In drying food product, application of HPD was succesful especially in resulting uniform moisture contant, better tensile strength.Timber drying was also enhanced by HPD and the result show that the dried timber has better quality in terms of reduction brown tain in radiana pine, collapse, case hardening, and warpage. The latest tecnology of HPD was hybrid HPD covering fluidized bed HPD,infra red HPD, radio freqiency HPD, solar energy HPD,and multiple chambers of HPD.
