Abstract

identities is often overlooked in urban studies, which place more emphasis on mainstream culture. Purpose. This study aims to identify and analyze how subcultures affect urban identity, especially in the context of social interaction and public policy in the city of Padang.   Method. The research uses a qualitative approach with case studies, involving in-depth interviews and participatory observations. Results. The results show that subcultures have a significant influence in shaping urban identity through cultural expression, social participation, and more inclusive urban policies. Subcultures not only enrich the visual and aesthetic dimensions of cities, but they also play an important role in creating more welcoming and participatory public spaces.   Conclusion. This study concludes that subcultures can be a strategic component in more sustainable and adaptive urban planning, albeit with limitations in scope and research methods that need to be further developed.

Abstract

Background. Increasing carbon emissions in developing countries is a serious challenge in climate change mitigation efforts. Renewable energies such as solar, wind, and biomass have great potential to reduce carbon footprint while increasing access to sustainable energy. Purpose. This study aims to analyze the potential of renewable energy in reducing carbon emissions in developing countries, as well as identify the main obstacles that hinder its utilization. Method. The research method uses a quantitative and qualitative approach, involving data analysis from various international reports as well as case studies from several developing countries. The data was analyzed to measure the potential of renewable energy, the level of utilization, and its impact on reducing carbon emissions. Results. The results show that although the potential of renewable energy is high, its utilization is still low due to infrastructure limitations, inconsistent policies, and inadequate funding. Conclusion. The study concludes that renewable energy can be an important solution in reducing carbon footprints in developing countries with stable policy support and international collaboration. Investment in infrastructure and local capacity building is needed to overcome implementation constraints.

Abstract

Background. Arabic language learning faces challenges in engaging students due to the traditional methods employed. With the advent of digital transformation, there is potential to enhance this learning experience. This study explores the integration of digital tools, specifically the Canva application, into Arabic language education to increase student interest and engagement. Purpose. The primary aim of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of using the Canva application as a digital tool to enhance students' interest in learning Arabic. Method. This study employs a qualitative research methodology. Data was gathered through descriptive analysis, focusing on the experiences and outcomes of using Canva in Arabic language learning. The research involved direct observations and interviews with Arabic language teachers and students to gather relevant insights. Results. The findings indicate that the use of Canva significantly enhances the learning experience. Students showed increased interest and engagement in Arabic lessons when digital media, like Canva, was used. Teachers reported that Canva's interactive and visually appealing templates made lessons more enjoyable and easier to understand for students. The application facilitated better retention of vocabulary and concepts through creative visual aids. Conclusion. Integrating digital tools like Canva into Arabic language learning can substantially improve student engagement and interest. The positive response from both students and educators suggests that such tools are effective in modernizing traditional learning methods. This study underscores the importance of digital transformation in educational practices and encourages the adoption of innovative teaching aids to enhance learning outcomes.

Abstract

Background. Santri are the main object in the learning process of the yellow book. The success of the yellow book education cannot be separated from the aspect of the ability of the students to read and understand the book. One of the yellow books that are widely studied in all pesantren is the book of Fathul Qarib. Purpuse. This study seeks to trace developments in learning to read and understand the yellow book with a mathematical model approach. Mathematical models are a branch of mathematics that attempts to photograph and translate a phonomene in life into a representation of mathematical equations that describe this phenomenon. Method. This research is a combination of fieldwork and literature study. This research was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Al Munawwir Krapyak Komplek Q in Krapyak Hamlet, Panggung Harjo Village, Sewon District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region Province. The object of this research is the students of Al Munawwir Krapyak Islamic Boarding School Komplek Q Awwal Class, Tsani and Tsalis who are studying the book of Fathul Qarib. Results. This research results that the mathematical model of the development of the students' ability to read the Fathul Qarib book at the Al-Munawwir Q Krapyak Islamic Boarding School, Yogyakarta is: K (t) = 55e^((0.1447) t) and based on parameter estimates from year 0 of 55, Year 1 is 63.563, year 2 is 73.459, and year 3 is 84.897. Conclusion. This means that the development of the students' ability in reading the book Fathul Qarib will continue to increase until the students can really master and understand the book.

Abstract

Background. The COVID-19 pandemic forced an abrupt transition from face-to-face instruction to remote learning, exposing students worldwide to significant academic, technological, and psychosocial challenges. Purpose. This study aimed to explore students’ lived experiences of resilience during remote learning by examining their narratives of adaptation, coping strategies, and personal development in online educational contexts. Method. A qualitative research design employing narrative inquiry was used. Data were collected from 50 secondary and tertiary students across diverse educational settings through in-depth narrative accounts. Results. The findings revealed that students demonstrated resilience through proactive time management, creative engagement with digital platforms, peer collaboration, and positive cognitive reframing of challenges. Participants reported enhanced self-directed learning skills, increased autonomy, and improved emotional regulation as outcomes of prolonged remote learning. Conclusion. The study concludes that resilience plays a vital role in sustaining student engagement and well-being in remote learning environments.

Abstract

Background. The background of this study is to explore psycholinguistic methods to assist Arabic language learners in processing idiomatic phrases more effectively. The focus is on identifying cognitive strategies that can improve the understanding and use of idiomatic phrases in communicative contexts. By solving this problem, it is hoped that learners can become more proficient in the idiomatic aspects of Arabic, improve communication skills, and feel confident interacting with native speakers. Purpose. The main objective of this study is to investigate the psycholinguistic aspects of Arabic idiomatic phrase processing, exploring cognitive strategies in non-native and native learners. The research aims to identify factors that influence comprehension, such as proficiency, culture, and learning experience, focusing on technology-based teaching methods to improve mastery. Method. This study takes a psycholinguistic approach, using a quantitative survey to investigate the processing of Arabic idiomatic phrases. The research involves identifying phrases, designing a survey, and analyzing the data to enhance the insights of understanding, which contributes to the understanding of psycholinguistics. Results. Research shows that learning Arabic in a formal environment has a positive impact on communication skills. The use of Arabic idiomatic phrases in daily life enriches communication. Online resources are dominant in understanding idiomatic phrases. The main obstacle is the difference in Arabic dialects. Psychological factors play an important role in the comprehension of idiomatic phrases and impact on overall Arabic language skills, especially in the context of social and professional communication. Conclusion. His study concluded that learning Arabic in a formal environment, such as school or university, has a great effect on students' speaking ability. The use of idiomatic phrases is also recognized as enriching everyday communication.

Abstract

Background. The world of education is inseparable from various learning components. The utilization of technology cannot be separated from the world of education. One of them is the use of Quiz Kreator for student achievement assessment in elementary schools. Quiz Kreator is one of the online applications used to create quizzes, including multiple choice quizzes and true false quizzes. Purpose. This study aims to determine how student achievement in elementary schools after using the Quiz Kreator application in the learning process. Method. The researcher used quantitative research methods, namely by distributing questionnaires to elementary school students. The questionnaire was distributed online. Results. The results showed that the use of Quiz Kreator in assessing student achievement in elementary schools has a positive impact on students. The use of Quiz Kreator as an assessment tool that is well designed and relevant to the material being taught, can improve student achievement. Quiz Kreator can provide assessment results automatically and accurately. This can also help teachers in assessing student achievement more objectively. Conclusion. the use of Quiz Kreator in assessing student achievement in elementary schools can be utilized well. The use of this Quiz Kreator application can improve student achievement in the learning process.

Abstract

Background. Learning motivation is an important factor in educational success, including in learning Arabic at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Kota Padang Panjang. The Al-Mumtaz app has been designed to support the learning process by offering interactive and engaging methods. However, the effectiveness of this application in increasing student learning motivation has not been studied much. Purpose. This study aims to examine the role of the Al-Mumtaz application in increasing students' motivation to learn Arabic at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Kota Padang Panjang. The main focus of this study was to find out the extent to which such applications can affect student learning motivation. Method. This research uses quantitative methods with experimental design. The research sample consisted of 60 students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Kota Padang Panjang who were divided into two groups: an experimental group using the Al-Mumtaz application and a control group using conventional learning methods. Data were collected through learning motivation questionnaires before and after the intervention, as well as in-depth interviews to support quantitative data. Results. The results showed that there was a significant increase in student motivation in the experimental group compared to the control group. Students who use the Al-Mumtaz app show higher levels of motivation in terms of interest, activeness, and commitment to Arabic language learning. Conclusion. Al-Mumtaz application significantly increases students' motivation to learn Arabic at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri Kota Padang Panjang
