Abstract

Along with the development of the era, the terminology of ecotourism has continued to develop without eliminating the essential in the definition of ecotourism itself, namely conservation or conservation for nature, culture and society itself. The concept of community-based ecotourism became a concept that developed in the 2000s where the terminology of this concept is more appropriate to involve the community in planning, implementing ecotourism management and all the benefits that are obtained. This study examines the extent to which the concept of community-based ecotourism supports tourism development and what are the obstacles in the concept of community-based ecotourism which can then become recommendations for further research. The method used is a qualitative method in the form of a literature study of the 20 articles obtained. The search tool used is to analyze or dismantle, then the data is analyzed using the literature review method with traditional review techniques. The concept of community-based ecotourism in the context of tourism development can be interpreted as a form of development in resource use by involving the community as the key holder. The concept of community-based ecotourism is also a new concept and opens up opportunities to enrich the study. The indicators obtained from the analysis show that the indicators of resources, community and tourists are factors in tourism development using the concept of community-based ecotourism.

Abstract

Saronde Island Ecotourism Destinations are part of the Togean National Tourism Destination - Gorontalo and its surroundings as a New Ecotourism Destination in Indonesia. However, its vulnerability to an earthquake that may have the potential for a tsunami makes this ecotourism destination need to be supported by its ecological resilience against disasters that may directly impact the Saronde Island Ecotourism Destination. This study aims to analyze the potential for disasters and plan the arrangement of the landscape and vegetation in the Saronde Island Ecotourism Destination to reduce the risk if a disaster occurs in that destination. This research method uses a qualitative approach through several stages of planning processes. The informants in this study came from government circles in charge of tourism and disaster in North Gorontalo as well as from the management of the Saronde Island Ecotourism Destination. The results showed that Saronde Island is susceptible to earthquakes and tsunamis because it is on a fault line and has several historical records of earthquake source points in the northern part of the Sulawesi sea. So landscape planning through spatial planning and utilization of vegetation can be applied as an effort to bridge the ecological function of the island and the function of tourism, especially for the security and safety of tourists and local communities. Managers and local governments need to take firm structural measures, starting from determining island zoning, supporting facilities such as interpretation media, evacuation route and supporting non-structural regulations such as determining disaster mitigation scenarios.

Abstract

This research explores the potential of gastronomic tourism in the Lake Toba region of Indonesia, focusing on the unique culinary identity and traditions of the Batak tribe. Batak culinary practices are firmly rooted in local traditions and environmental conditions, with major traditional foods and drinks such as Tuak, Na Niura, and Mie Gomak having strong cultural values.  Currently, Lake Toba gastronomic tourism has not become a leading tourism destination.  The purpose of this study is to examine how environmental and cultural factors affect local cuisine and beverages in the Lake Toba region and to identify challenges and opportunities in promoting these gastronomic assets effectively.  This qualitative research uses interviews, observations, and documentation to collect data. Key stakeholders, including local business owners and Batak cultural experts were interviewed using non-probability snowball sampling to gain comprehensive insights into the region's culinary identity.  The results of the study highlight the cultural significance and potential tourist attraction of traditional Batak food and beverages. However, challenges such as tourists' lack of knowledge about local cuisine were identified. The study shows that a more structured and strategic approach, including annual food festivals and culinary tours, is needed to increase the demand for Lake Toba's Gatronomi tourism.  This study underscores the need for an annual Lake Toba Gastronomy festival to utilize local culinary heritage, thereby increasing cultural preservation and tourism development in the Lake Toba region.

Abstract

The Indonesian government's efforts to improve village development can be seen in the Developing Village Index (IDM). All village potential needs to be looked at carefully by the village government and then managed sustainably. This research aims to utilize Google Maps reviews on natural tourism potential in the village. It is hoped that the approach of using Google Maps reviews can be carried out by village governments in general in Indonesia. The results of qualitative descriptive analysis can be used as a basis for ideas for village development and development through tourism destinations in the village. This research was conducted at Wisata Pinus Pananjung, a natural tourist attraction in Kidang Pananjung Village, Cililin District, West Bandung Regency, West Java. The results of the research are the need to form a sports and arts and culture community with regular activities that utilize the Wisata Pinus Pananjung area. Community activities require the participation of the community and village government. Community activities also increase trade activities with potential visitors coming from inside and outside the village. This requires a touch of digital marketing including the use of Google Maps. This idea is in line with the priority of Kidang Pananjung Village in IDM 2023 to become a Desa Maju.
