Abstract

This study investigates the rhetorical strategies of logos, pathos, and ethos in the leadership communication of Kang Dedi Mulyadi (KDM), the Governor of West Java, Indonesia. KDM’s communication approach, characterized by logical reasoning, emotional resonance, and ethical credibility, has been widely recognized for fostering public trust and engagement. This paper examines how KDM employs these rhetorical elements in his leadership discourse and discusses their implications for educational leadership. By analyzing content from KDM’s YouTube channel and other media sources, this study shows that his use of logos in policy argumentation, pathos in emotional appeals, and ethos in personal integrity are pivotal to his public influence. The findings suggest that KDM's leadership communication model offers significant insights for educational leadership, particularly in the areas of civic literacy, character education, and community engagement. This paper contributes to the understanding of how leadership communication can be integrated into educational practices to foster democratic values, critical thinking, and moral development among students.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to introduce a greenhouse-effect solar dryer (GESD) technology for chili postharvest processing in Kedungweru Village. The main issue faced by farmers was high postharvest losses due to unpredictable weather and conventional open sun-drying methods. The implementation included problem identification, technical training, field demonstrations, and participatory-based mentoring and monitoring. The results showed a 40–60% reduction in drying time compared to traditional sun drying, improved product quality in terms of color and hygiene, and increased selling prices by 25–35%. The activity enhanced community technical capacity in postharvest management, strengthened food resilience, and promoted village-based economic development through appropriate renewable energy technology. This model is replicable in other chili-producing regions with similar agroclimatic conditions.

Abstract

Deaf children experience limitations in verbal communication that significantly affect their emotional regulation and social adjustment. These conditions require inclusive and adaptive guidance and counseling services. This study aims to describe the implementation of inclusive counseling approaches for deaf children at State Special School (SLB Negeri) Cilacap. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method through observation and in-depth interviews with school counselors. The research subject was a 10-year-old deaf student. The results indicate that the humanistic counseling approach plays a central role in building an empathetic and supportive counseling relationship. Behavioral, cognitive, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches were applied situationally to support adaptive behavior and emotional regulation. The main challenge encountered was limited verbal communication, which requires counselors to master alternative communication strategies such as sign language and visual media. This study concludes that integrative inclusive counseling approaches contribute positively to emotional regulation and social adjustment of deaf children.
