Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of family and peer environments on major selection decisions, with self-efficacy as a mediating variable, among students at private vocational high schools in Semarang. This study was motivated by the limited number of studies that have examined the simultaneous mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between family environment, peers, and major selection decisions, particularly in the context of private vocational high schools offering the MPLB program. Additionally, previous research findings regarding the influence of peers on educational decisions have yielded inconsistent results. The method used was a quantitative approach with Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis. Data were collected through the direct distribution of questionnaires to respondents and via Google Forms. The results of the study indicate that family and peer environments have a direct, positive, and significant effect on self-efficacy. Furthermore, the family environment and self-efficacy were also found to have a positive and significant influence on the decision to choose a major. However, the peer group variable did not have a significant direct effect on the decision to choose a major. Furthermore, self-efficacy was found to be a significant mediating variable, as it was shown to significantly mediate the influence of the family and peer group environments on the decision to choose a major. Thus, self-efficacy plays a crucial role as a mediating variable in linking the influence of family and peer environments on students’ major selection decisions. Future research is recommended to develop a research model by incorporating additional variables to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing major selection decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of digital business education in mediating self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention among students of the economics education study program at Universitas Negeri Semarang. This study is a quantitative research approach with a causal correlational design. The population of this study was 392 students, with a sample of 50 economics education students using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was assessed using Cronbach's alpha, and all composite reliability values for each construct were obtained to have a value greater than 0.7. The survey data was entered in SmartPLS version 3.2.9 for analysis. Direct effect analysis with path coefficients helps test the hypothesis of direct influence between variables at a significance level 0.05. There is a significant direct relationship between Digital business education and Entrepreneurial Intention among students of 0.327 (P-Value 0.002). Indirect effect analysis helps test the hypothesis of indirect influence between variables mediated by a variable. Digital business education significantly mediates self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention of 0.197 (P-Value 0.002). This study concludes that digital business education, directly and indirectly, influences the increase of entrepreneurial intention. Digital business education significantly mediates the relationship between self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention among economic education students. Digital business education plays an important role in increasing entrepreneurial intention. For this study, educators need to ensure that teaching and content in digital business education can spark entrepreneurial intention to impact the number of young entrepreneurs among students, and entrepreneurship becomes one of the right career choices for graduates of economic education study programs.

Abstract

This research aims to empirically investigate the antecedents and consequences of student satisfaction with programs provided by higher education institutions and identify service quality attributes that need to be improved. This research uses the American Customer Satisfaction Model (ACSM) as an analytical lens. The unit of analysis in this research concentrates on students who are studying at Semarang City Universities. Partial Least Squares (PLS) estimation is used to test measurement models, estimate the predictive power of theoretical models, and obtain the SSI score. Although student satisfaction is a complex concept, this model has proven to be an accurate estimator. The research results show that student satisfaction is entirely satisfactory, with an SSI score of 68.75. Through the Structural Measurement Method, it was found that perceived benefits and interactions in the process had the most significant influence on satisfaction. This research contributes to discussions about service quality by highlighting the role of perceived usefulness and aspects of the interaction process as factors shaping service quality. Apart from that, this research also reinforces the discussion regarding the relationship between student satisfaction and complaints by showing that this relationship is negative if managed by producing graduates loyal to the university.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of teacher competence, motivation, and welfare on teacher performance with teacher certification as an intervening variable. This study was conducted with teachers in the Teacher Professional Education Program in Economics Education at Semarang State University. This study used a quantitative, survey-based method, involving PPG teachers who had received certification. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using path analysis to test the direct and indirect relationships between variables. The results showed that teacher competence had a positive and significant influence on teacher performance. Motivation also plays an important role in improving teacher performance, both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. In addition, teacher welfare significantly influences performance, but this relationship is mediated by teacher certification. Teacher certification not only improves teacher welfare but also strengthens the influence of welfare on teacher performance. Competence, motivation, and welfare are important factors that influence teacher performance. Teacher certification acts as an intervening variable, strengthening the impact of welfare on performance. These findings underscore the importance of improving teachers’ competence, motivation, and well-being, as well as the need to expand access to certification to support better teacher performance.

Abstract

The development of the digital economy requires higher education institutions to produce graduates who possess not only technological literacy but also technology-based entrepreneurial orientation (technopreneurship). This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the team-based project learning model through the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) evaluation approach. The study employed a quantitative approach using a true experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 100 students of the Economic Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang, divided into experimental and control groups with 50 students in each group. Data were collected using a technopreneurship intention questionnaire and a CIPP evaluation instrument that had met validity and reliability requirements. Data analysis was conducted using an independent sample t-test and Cohen’s d effect size with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics 26. The findings revealed no significant difference at the pretest stage (sig. = 0.367 > 0.05), but a significant difference was found at the posttest stage (sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), with the experimental group obtaining a higher mean score than the control group. The CIPP evaluation showed that the learning implementation was categorized as good with an average score of 83.2%, while the process component achieved the highest score of 85.6%. The effect size value of 1.01 indicated a strong effect on improving students’ technopreneurship intention. These findings confirm that the integration of team-based project learning and CIPP evaluation is effective in creating contextual, collaborative, and experiential entrepreneurship learning in higher education.
