Abstract

Learning English as an international language may have generated an issue with vocabulary problems recognizing aspects during its process which the learning process lives of students cannot be overstated. The objective of this research is to refer to the research problem to find out how electronic guessing games increase vocabulary mastery. The hypothesis of this research is described as follows: applying electronic guessing games at MTs Nurul Hasan Bondowoso in the 2022/2023 academic years and focusing on increasing students' English language, especially vocabulary mastery. The design of this research is classroom action research. the research is VII A class consisting of 15 students. The data are collected using the test method by the Quizizz platform and the instrument used is test items with a covering of classification vocabulary. Electronic guessing games were able to increase the student’s vocabulary mastery according to the criteria of success at MTs Nurul Hasan Bondowoso in the 2022/2023 academic years by student’s ability to use technology, with technical fluency in using technology, it was easier for students to connected the picture to clues to find out the right answer.

Abstract

Vocabulary is a stock of words or a collection of words owned by speakers or writers. According to Rahmah (2016), one of a language's most crucial components is vocabulary. It means that vocabulary is one of the language aspects which should be learnt. This research use Classroom Action Research. Classroom Action Research is the type of research used (CAR). According to Aqib, Z., and Chotibuddin (2018), the primary goal of CAR is to enhance the caliber of instruction in the classroom by resolving issues and developing pertinent and efficient corrective measures to enhance student learning outcomes and the caliber of the instructional process. The result is students’ vocabulary increased from 46,9% in the first cycle to 84,4% in the second cycle. In addition, student activity during learning also increased from 62.5% to 93.8%. Based on the findings and discussion, it can be concluded that novice learners’ vocabulary mastery has increased in the second cycle. The second cycle involves employing interactive learning in groups and three repetitions of the vocabulary pronunciation in the Word Search Puzzle. Test scores and student conduct during vocabulary learning both indicate changes in the rise. Thus, it can be said that Word Search Puzzle can enhance vocabulary mastery on novice learners through interactive learning and repetition of the material's pronunciation.

Abstract

This study is aims to determine the effect of flipped classroom method on students writing skill in descriptive text. The subject of the study was tenth grade of student BDP 1 and BDP 2 of SMK Muhammadiyah 4 Kalisat Jember consisting of 40 students from 2 classes. The results showed that there is a significant difference in writing descriptive text between of students who are taught with a flipped classroom method and those who are taught conventional method. This is based on the results of the mean score from the post-test of the experimental group and the control group. From the post-test it is known that the average value for the experimental group (X BDP 2) is 77.95. The results of the independent t-test have a significance difference of 0.000, which means that there is a significance average difference between the experimental group and the control group. So, it can be stated that the use of flipped classroom method can be an alternative solution to overcome the student’s difficulties in writing a descriptive text.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to describe the English learning outcomes of Grade X-2 students at Pakusari High School in Jember before and after applying the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) method. The study involved 36 students in the academic year 2022/2023. The analysis of the data revealed that the English learning motivation of Grade X-2 students at Pakusari High School prior to implementing the contextual teaching and learning method was as follows: 6% of the students had very high motivation; 31% had high motivation; 39% had moderate motivation; and 25% had low motivation. Conversely, after implementing the contextual teaching and learning method, there was an improvement in English learning motivation: 14% of the students had very high motivation; 67% had high motivation; 17% had moderate motivation; and 3% had low motivation.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether using the Elsa Application in learning English can improve the speaking skills of grade 8 students at SMPN 8 Jember. This research focused on pre-experimental research in one class pre-test and post-test. The population of this research is grade 8 students at SMPN 8 Jember in the 2023/2024 academic year, consisting of 224 students. The researcher took one class as a research sample, namely class 8 which consisted of 32 students. Data was obtained from speaking ability tests when retelling stories in the pre-test and post-test. It can be concluded that the results of this study show that the use of the Elsa application can improve students' speaking skills which include grammar, comprehension, pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency. This can be seen in the students' average score on the pre-test, which was 60 and increased to 75.5 on the post test. This means that using the Elsa application in learning English can improve the speaking skills of grade 8 students at SMPN 8 Jember.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji perbandingan antara sistem asuransi syariah dan konvensional dalam perspektif fiqh kontemporer. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menafsirkan kembali prinsip-prinsip fiqh klasik seperti gharar (ketidakpastian), maisir (judi), dan riba (renten) dalam konteks praktik keuangan modern. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi pustaka, melalui analisis terhadap literatur klasik dan kontemporer, termasuk fatwa DSN-MUI serta karya ulama seperti al-Qaradawi, az-Zuhaili, dan Taqi Usmani. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa asuransi syariah (takaful) berlandaskan prinsip ta’awun (tolong-menolong) dan tabarru’ (hibah), berbeda dengan mekanisme asuransi konvensional yang berorientasi pada keuntungan dan risk transfer. Para ulama fiqh kontemporer memandang takaful sebagai bentuk ijtihad yang sah dan adaptif terhadap kebutuhan sosial-ekonomi masyarakat modern. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa asuransi syariah mencerminkan fleksibilitas hukum Islam dalam menghadapi sistem keuangan global
