Abstract

The impact of development has risks for society, one of the impacts of development is the emergence or occurrence of environmental pollution. The objectives of the service activities: (1) introduce a training program to recognize types of air pollution; (2) through service it can produce output in the form of a national service journal. This activity was held on July 20, 2023 at SMA Negeri 2 Skanto Keerom. The target audience involved in this activity are high school students. The selection of the target audience is based on the tasks and obligations of students to build Adiwiyata High School that loves the environment. The methods used in the implementation of this activity are lectures, simulations and practice on how to harvest and use it. The conclusion is that: (1) Participants are very enthusiastic about participating in service activities and understand air pollution, its types and impacts; (2) based on the evaluation results, it shows that the level of understanding of the participants is quite good when seen from the percentage of all participants' opinions.

Abstract

Teachers as the driving force in implementing the curriculum are expected to be creative, innovative, and skilled in learning and able to use technology to support continuous improvement of quality and improvement of learning practices. The chemical properties of compounds in food ingredients are known to be able to be used as tools or samples in the implementation of science (science) practicums. Introduction to natural resources, including food ingredients, which are in the school environment or students' homes as part of the learning experience from the environment and as objects in learning projects for teachers is considered important to do. The purpose of this activity is to provide teachers with an introduction and experience about the use of food ingredients in science learning, especially in biology and chemistry (science) studies. Teachers are the first party to benefit from this activity. Furthermore, together with teachers as facilitators, students, in the form of learning projects, can learn through their direct experiences using materials around them. The implementation of community service is carried out using two methods, namely the socialization method and the training method. Socialization is carried out to introduce the characteristics of food ingredients, namely butterfly pea flowers, red spinach, bread yeast, pineapple and coconut milk. The training is intended to provide direct experience to teachers so that they can be implemented in science learning in their respective schools. Abstract

Buah pepaya merupakan buah tropis yang mudah diperoleh, memiliki banyak manfaat kesehatan dan dapat dikonsumsi dalam bentuk buah segar, buah potong atau sayur Papaya is a tropical fruit that is easy to obtain, has many health benefits, and can be consumed in the form of fresh-cut fruit, or vegetables, as well as processed products. Papaya fruit can be a basic ingredient for making papaya jelly candy.  This community service activity was carried out as a form of dissemination about the benefits of papaya fruit and training in making papaya jelly candy so that it can be an entrepreneurial opportunity other than for personal consumption. Material about making papaya jelly candy was delivered using a lecture method followed by the practice of making papaya jelly.  This activity was held on August 24 2024 and was attended by 26 members of the Women's Association of the Indonesian Christian Church Getsemani Kotaraja Jayapura as participants. The papaya jelly candy produced is a healthy product because it does not use additional ingredients such as food coloring. This activity went well and the participants participated very enthusiastically. Participants felt the benefits of the activity directly as evidenced by the testimonials submitted by two participants representing the mothers of PW GKI Getsemani Kotaraja. The results of the activity evaluation showed positive participant responses with a satisfaction level percentage of 34% of participants strongly agreeing and 64% of participants agreeing.

Abstract

Sodium percarbonate is a crystalline compound widely used as an eco-friendly bleaching and oxidizing agent. This study aims to synthesize sodium percarbonate using the wet method by examining the effects of rmass ratio and stabilizer dosage on product quality. The synthesis was carried out by variated the mass ratio of sodium carbonate to hydrogen peroxide and applying a composite stabilizer. The product was evaluated based on active oxygen content, yield, and stability. The results indicate that the optimal mass ratio is 1:1, yield product is 68.64% with 13.58% active oxygen content. The best product quality was obtained using a composite stabilizer composed of sodium silicate, magnesium sulfate heptahydrate, and triethanolamine, with an optimal dosage of approximately 1%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) inoculation on the growth and yield of maize (Zea mays L.) as a solution to fertilizer shortages in Indonesia. The continuous use of inorganic fertilizers can degrade soil quality, making environmentally friendly alternatives, such as biofertilizers, necessary. The study observed the growth optimization of several corn varieties inoculated with AMF. The eight-month study was conducted in the Biology Laboratory at Cenderawasih University's Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences using a pot culture method with three varieties of maize: regular maize (RM), sweet corn (SC), and butter sweet corn (BSC). Parameters observed included plant height, leaf number, and relative growth rate based on dry weight. The results showed that AMF inoculation significantly increased corn plant height by 21.56%, leaf number by 18.14%, and the relative growth rate by 1,425% at six weeks after planting. Butter sweet corn and sweet corn responded better to AMF inoculation than regular corn. The best results occurred when butter sweet corn was given 15 g of AMF inoculum per polybag.
