Abstract

The effectiveness of bed utilization is a key indicator of inpatient service quality. Fluctuations in the number of beds at Pelabuhan Hospital Jakarta from 2019 to 2024 have affected the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR), which remains below the ideal standard. This study aims to evaluate bed utilization effectiveness during that period using a descriptive quantitative method based on inpatient census data. Results showed that the number of beds in each ward fluctuated, with an average BOR ranging from 37% to 74%. The Turnover Interval (TOI) and Average Length of Stay (AvLOS) were generally within the ideal range, while the Bed Turnover (BTO) tended to be high. Changes in bed numbers had varying effects on BOR: an average increase of 3.8 beds raised BOR by 22.8%, while an increase of 5 beds reduced it by 8.4%. Conversely, reducing 2.6 beds increased BOR by 7.2%, while reducing 2 beds decreased it by 19.3%. Bed procurement was carried out through an official memorandum from the nursing unit to the director based on service trends and needs. Therefore, bed planning should use predictive methods and historical data analysis over a minimum of three to five years.

Abstract

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive workplace even in areas like hospital archives. The archives room at Balaraja Regional General Hospital stores vital medical records and is exposed to physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards. This study explores how OSH is implemented in this environment, focusing on five key indicators: hazard recognition and risk control, ergonomic practices, routine health checks, management of facilities and infrastructure, and emergency preparedness. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study method, data were gathered through observations and interviews with the hospital’s OSH team leader and six archive officers. Findings show that many safety measures are well applied, including regular cleaning to control dust, OSH training sessions, use of personal protective equipment, and annual health checks in line with regulations. However, gaps remain, such as inadequate lighting, non-ergonomic chairs, and absence of a first aid kit. In conclusion, while OSH implementation meets several standards, improvements in hazard management, facilities, and ergonomics are necessary to create a safer, more comfortable workspace that supports archivists’ efficiency and well-being.

Abstract

The implementation of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system in the Emergency Department (ED) is a crucial aspect in supporting rapid response to patient care. In emergency situations, the speed and accuracy of information are vital, necessitating research to measure user satisfaction with the MERSI EMR system. This evaluation aims not only to assess user satisfaction but also to identify system weaknesses to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and effectiveness in supporting services in the ED. This study aims to determine user satisfaction with the MERSI system at the ED of RSUD Cengkareng using the End User Computing Satisfaction (EUCS) approach. A quantitative descriptive method was used with a quota sampling technique. The population consisted of 51 medical personnel operating the MERSI system in the ED. The results showed that for the Content variable, 88.2% of respondents were satisfied and 11.8% were not. For Accuracy, 80.4% were satisfied and 19.6% were not. For Format, 88.2% were satisfied and 11.8% were not. For Timeliness, 82.4% were satisfied and 17.6% were not. Meanwhile, for Ease of Use, 64.7% were satisfied and 35.3% were not. These findings indicate that the overall operation of MERSI has met user expectations, particularly in terms of information relevance, data accuracy, and interface design. The study recommends integrating MERSI with the hospital information system (SIMRS) as a backup effort to enhance the efficiency and reliability of healthcare services in the ED. Additionally, integration with a bridging system similar to BPJS PCare is expected to enable online access to patient medical records. Training for medical personnel should also be improved to optimize the use of the EMR system.

Abstract

This study examines the security concerns surrounding electronic medical records (EMR) at AL Dr. Mintohardjo Hospital, which currently uses a hybrid system combining both manual and electronic methods. Despite the benefits of EMR in improving efficiency and accuracy, challenges persist in transitioning to a fully digital system. The research identifies key issues such as data entry errors and insufficient cybersecurity training for medical record staff. Data was collected through interviews and participant observation with administrative, medical, and IT department members. Although the hospital has established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for EMR security, the study finds that these procedures are not effectively implemented. Security measures such as access control and user authentication have been put in place to protect patient data, but vulnerabilities remain, such as excessive access by administrators and infrequent password updates by users. Additionally, data entry mistakes can negatively impact patient care, and concerns about unstable internet connections and reliance on a single resource persist. Despite the hospital's security efforts, including audit trails and firewalls, the study emphasizes the need for better staff training and enhanced procedures to further safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of EMR data.

Abstract

Abstract

The application of good environmental ergonomics and occupational safety can help reduce the number of workplace accidents, improve employee welfare, and increase efficiency and productivity in the workplace. Therefore, research on Environmental Ergonomics and Occupational Safety is needed. To understand the contribution to scientific knowledge in the field of environmental ergonomics in medical record rooms, this study uses a qualitative descriptive research type to systematically describe Environmental Ergonomics and Occupational Safety. Observations in the medical record room at Tiara Hospital in Bekasi related to lighting in the medical record unit room found that the lighting in the medical record unit room was sufficient to assist staff in performing their duties. However, the lighting in the medical record document storage room (filing) is still uneven, and the medical record room door that cannot be locked poses a high risk to document security. Although there is a staff member on duty 24 hours a day, unauthorized individuals can still enter when the staff is inattentive. This can lead to unauthorized access to sensitive medical record documents, the risk of document theft or damage, and potential breaches of patient privacy. Suggestions include improving the lighting in the patient registration area to meet the recommended minimum standards and enhancing the security system, including ensuring that the medical record room door can be properly locked and considering the use of additional security technologies such as CCTV and access control systems.
