Abstract

Proses penuaan kulit yang terjadi, baik karena faktor ekstrinsik akibat paparan ultra violet (UV) maupun intrinsik, menimbulkan keluhan kulit keriput. Penelitian kedokteran membuktikan sel punca jaringan lemak mempunyai kandungan beberapa growth factor dan antioksidan superoxide dismutase (SOD); diduga dapat digunakan sebagai terapi anti-aging.Skin aging process occurred because of extrinsic (UV exposure) and intrinsic factor, causes wrinkles. Research showed that fat tissue stem cells consists of growth factors and anti-oxidant superoxide dismutase (SOD), and can be used as anti aging therapy.

Abstract

Background : Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, therefore struggles to find more effective treatment and prevention is needed. Several studies has been performed using natural ingredients, one of which is Temu Kunci (B. pandurata). Temu Kunci extract contains flavonoid pinostrobin that has been showed as having cytotoxicity effects. Cytotoxicity tests of pinostrobin have been performed on several tumor cell lines, but its cytotoxicity effect on HeLa cell line has never been reported. Objective : To assess cytotoxicity effect of pinostrobin temu kunci on HeLa cell culture Methods : This study used simple experimental design. Pinostrobin were isolated from temu kunci and proved by TLC densitometry compared to standard pinostrobin. HeLa cell culture were treated with pinostrobin with concentrations 5, 25, 50, 75, 100, and 250 ug/mL. Cytotoxicity test were performed by MTT assay. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. Results : There was significant difference (p=0.000) of means of cell viability percentage, respectively: 92.58 ± 9.84 (5μg/mL), 91.78 ± 4.4 (25μg/mL), 80.09 ± 4.51 (50μg/mL), 76.89 ± 7.75 (75μg/mL), 67.85 ± 11.31 (100μg/mL), dan 48.82 ± 16.61 (250μg/mL). The IC50 was 250μg/mL. Conclusion : Pinostrobin showed no active cytotoxicity effect on HeLa cell culture.

Abstract

Irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) is an inflammation of skin caused by direct cytotoxic effects of chemical, physical or biological agents on epidermal cells without a presence of specific antibody production. It was reported that a 40-year-old man, complaining of itching and a burned sensation on his skins accompanied by pain after contaminated by sap of Rengas. Diagnosis of ICD was established by history taking and physical examination: there are erythematous, multiple, discrete papules, partly necrotic-erythematous skin base on his forearm and right lower abdomen. The patient was treated with mometasone furoate smeared and antihistamines once a night. A characteristic of the sap is black on its woods. Compounds of the sap contain ursiol, rengol, glutarengol, laccol and thitsiol that are irritants causing the ICD.

Abstract

Atopic dermatitis is hypersensitivity respond that occurs by exposure to allergens environment, which is inheritance in familial pattern. The role of lgE is importance in pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis. Exposure of House dust mite could be JgE specific laboratory examinations were increased and causing relapse of Atopic dermatitis, the patch tests used of house dust mite result are positive in atopic dermatitis.

Abstract

ABSTRAK BB cream merupakan istilah dari blemish balm, blemish base, beblesh balm dan beauty balm di pasar barat yang dirancang menjadi alas bedak, pelembab dan tabir surya sekaligus. Penggunaan BB cream diduga berhubungan bermakna dengan keparahan klinis akne vulgaris, karena penggunaan kosmetik ini dapat meningkatkan sebum akibat unsur komedogenik yang terkandung di dalamnya, seperti: lanolin, petrolatum, butyl stearate, lauryl alcohol dan oleic acid. Kandungan parfum seperti linalool, limonene, caffeine, geraniol, dan citral yang terkandung dalam BB cream juga dapat  menyebabkan reaksi alergi dan iritasi sehingga meningkatkan risiko untuk terjadinya akne vulgaris. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi efek komedogenik dan iritasi akibat pemberian produk kosmetik BB cream pada telinga kelinci. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain true experimental laboratory dengan metode randomized post test only controlled group design. Penelitian ini menggunakan hewan coba kelinci New Zealand white jantan. Dilakukan aplikasi topikal 3 produk BB cream pada telinga kanan selama lima minggu sedangkan telinga kiri berfungsi sebagai kontrol negatif. Efek komedogenik dan iritasi dinilai berdasarkan skoring. Hasil uji statistik dengan menggunakan uji Fisher exact didapatkan nilai p= 1,00 (p0,05), oleh  karena itu disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan bermakna antara aplikasi topikal BB cream dengan pembentukan komedo dan perubahan iritasi pada kulit telinga kelinci. Kata Kunci: BB Cream, Akne Vulgaris, Komedogenik, Skoring Komedogenik, Skoring Iritasi  ABSTRACT BB cream is a marketing term that stands for blemish balm, blemish base, beblesh balm and beauty balm. BB cream is designed to be foundation, moisturizer and sunscreen all at once. The use of BB cream is associated with the clinical severity of acne vulgaris, because the use of BB cream cosmetics can increase sebum production due to the comedogenic ingredients contained in it, such as lanolin, petrolatum, butyl stearate, lauryl alcohol and oleic acid. The perfume content such as linalool, limonene, caffeine, geraniol, and citral contained in BB cream could causes allergic reactions and irritation, thereby increasing the risk for acne vulgaris to occur. This study aimed to determine the comedogenicity dan irritation potency of BB cream cosmetic products applications on rabbit ears. This study used a true experimental laboratory design with a randomized post test only controlled group design method. This study used male New Zealand white rabbits as experimental animals. Topical application of 3 BB cream products was carried out on the right ear for five weeks, while the left ear function as a negative control. Statistical tests using Fisher's exact test obtained a value of p=1.00 (p0.05). It is concluded that there was no significant relationship between the topical application of BB cream with the formation of comedones and changes in irritation of the rabbit ear skin.Keywords: BB Cream, Acne Vulgaris, Comedogenicity, Comedogenicity Scoring, Irritation Scoring

Abstract

Background: Fungal skin infections are prevalent in developing countries, with dermatophytosis and tinea versicolor being the most prevalent. The KOH test is a practical and easy-to-do examination for diagnosing superficial fungal skin infections on an outpatient basis. Skin scraping is the most known method for collecting samples for KOH testing, but some studies have shown that cellophane tape is also used for a more patient-friendly approach. Purpose: This study is aimed at comparing KOH examinations using cellophane tape and skin scrapings. Methods: This research is a diagnostic test study with a cross-sectional approach. The research data were obtained from 51 medical records of skin patients at Dr. Soedirman Kebumen Municipal Hospital with the diagnosis of tinea cruris and tinea corporis who underwent KOH examination with cellophane tape and skin scrapings. Data correlation was analyzed using the Chi square test.  Result : From the research, it was found that there was no statistically significant difference between the use of cellophane tape and skin scrapings in the KOH test sampling for tinea cases (p = 0.153), which indicates that there was no significant difference between the use of the two methods for the diagnosis of dermatophytosis. Conclusion: The tapping method as an alternative method of skin scraping for KOH examination can be used to establish the diagnosis of dermatophytosis.

Abstract

Background: Puskesmas is the spearhead of health services in Indonesia. In order to improve its services to the community, Puskesmas (public health center) must continuously increase their performances. Budget constraints make puskesmas must make improvements according to priority scale. Puskesmas have difficulty to determine priority as expected by society. Objective: This study aims to analyze the satisfaction of the Puskesmas visitors based on the level of performance and the level of importance which is then prioritized in accordance with the service attribute. Method: This research use cross sectional method with simple random sampling at Ngaglik 1 Sleman Yogyakarta Public Health Center visitors. Data were collected by using questionnaire based on likert scale with measured parameters including tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy. Data processing uses the method of Important Performance Analysis (IPA) and Potential Gain in Customer Value (PGCV). Data sufficiency uses a 10% accuracy rate, a 90% confidence rate, and a margin of error of 0.1 (10%). The subjects involved were 45 patients who were present at the Ngaglik Community Health Center at the time the research took place Results: Satisfaction analysis shows that the level of respondent satisfaction is spread so uneven in every service attribute. Values ​​for attributes considered to be important by the respondents averaged 3.14 while the average performance score of 4.18. There are different priorities that need to be improved according to IPA and PGCV. The five priorities that have to be fixed by IPA are the bathroom facilities, the speed and accuracy of the service of the officer, the completeness and the sophistication of medical equipment, drug security, and timeliness of service, while according to PGCV is the right JKN card service, knowledge and job mastery of the officers, completeness and sophistication of medical equipment, fast service when visitors arrive, and administrative length. Conclusion: The priority of service improvement according to IPA and PGCV differs from one to another. In general, researchers recommend the use of IPA method because this method saves time and cost. In general, puskesmas should improve services to match the expectations of visitors.

Abstract

Sebagai salah satu agen pencerah kulit, vitamin C maupun derivatnya digunakan dalam industri kosmetik dalam beragam konsentrasi dan bentuk topikal. Formulasi kosmetik dengan kandungan vitamin C seharusnya efektif dalam mencapai manfaat vitamin C pada kulit. Telaah ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis, besar konsentrasi, dan bentuk vitamin C topikal dan derivatnya sebagai agen pencerah kulit manusia. Seleksi artikel dilakukan berdasarkan alur PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews). Kata kunci yang digunakan dalam pencarian artikel pada database yaitu “(vitamin C OR ascorbic acid OR asam askorbat) AND (brightening OR lightening OR whitening OR pencerah)” pada database Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, PubMed, ProQuest, dan EBSCOHost, “vitamin C” pada database Neliti, serta “vitamin C DAN kulit” pada database GARUDA. Jenis artikel yang dipilih merupakan artikel yang terbit pada tahun 2011–2021 dengan metode RCT dan non-RCT, baik original article maupun grey literature. Didapatkan hasil vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) dan derivatnya (palmitoyl-KVK-L-ascorbic acid, tetrahexadecyl ascorbate, dan magnesium ascorbyl phosphate) digunakan sebagai pencerah kulit pada kondisi normal, melasma, atau amyloidosis makular. Ditemukan beragam besar konsentrasi yang digunakan dari 2% hingga 30% dalam bentuk losio, krim, atau serum; serta disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan vitamin C topikal atau derivatnya dapat mencerahkan kulit wajah. Abstract

Generalized fixed drug eruption (GFDE) is a specific variant of fixed drug eruption (FDE) characterized by multifocal lesions that recur upon exposure to a particular medication. This report describes a rare case of GFDE in a 54-year-old male, who presented with chief complaints of widespread erythema and pruritic, burning sensation. Physical examination revealed the patient to be in generally good condition dermatological status showed erosion on the hard palate, patches, erythematous macules, and partially ruptured bullae forming erosion in inguinal and genitals area, buttocks, thighs, lower legs, feet, axillae, hands, forearms, and back. The lesions were described as purplish round/oval erythematous patches, ranging from 1-4 cm in diameter, partially confluent, forming larger areas up to 6x7 cm, with bullae partially ruptured into erosion. The patient was admitted to the hospital, and treated with Ringer's lactate infusion, and an intravenous injection of 125 mg methylprednisolone. On the second day, the dose of intravenous methylprednisolone was reduced to 62.5 mg in the morning and the patient was administered a 10 mg cetirizine tablet orally in the evening, triamcinolone acetonide for oral lesions, a 15-minute NaCl 0.9% compress on the genitals twice a day, and desoximetasone 0.25% cream for all lesions. By the third day, the patient’s condition had improved, and he was then discharged. The prescribed home therapy regimen included a 16 mg methylprednisolone tablet in the morning, a 4 mg tablet in the afternoon, a 10 mg cetirizine tablet once daily, a 500 mg ciprofloxacin tablet twice daily, compress, and topical applications of triamcinolone acetonide for oral lesions and desoximetasone 0.25 % cream for all other lesions. A follow-up visit three days post-discharge indicated significant dermatological improvement. The diagnosis was established through anamnesis, physical examination, and appearance of skin disorder. Dimenhydrinate was identified as the potential causative agent.
