Abstract

In construction projects, inadequate implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OHSMS) poses risks to the safety and well-being of workers, resulting in decreased performance and compromised project quality. This study focuses on the Kapas-Glendeng bridge widening project in Bojonegoro Regency, identifying key obstacles such as workforce competence, limited experience, insufficient training, and challenges accessing digital information. Additionally, issues related to worker involvement in regulation-making, understanding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), reporting procedures, and documentation of work accidents were observed. To address these challenges, the study recommends strategies such as involving untrained workers in competence-building programs, providing apprenticeships for less experienced personnel, implementing comprehensive training information systems, actively engaging workers in project planning, enforcing OHS monitoring systems, ensuring mandatory PPE usage with penalties for violations, and establishing clear procedures for recording and reporting work accidents. This proactive approach aims to enhance OHS implementation and mitigate risks in construction projects.

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to optimize the groundwater irrigation network to support food security in Jatimulyo Village, Plumpang District, Tuban Regency. The main problem faced by the local community is the limited surface irrigation network, especially during the dry season. The methods used in this activity include counseling, diffusion of science and technology, training, and direct mentoring to farmer groups. The results of the activity show that farmers have increased their knowledge and skills in utilizing the groundwater irrigation system efficiently. In addition, an irrigation control tank unit has been built as a pilot model. This activity proves that a participatory approach and appropriate technology can encourage farmer empowerment and provide applicable alternative solutions to increase agricultural productivity in areas facing an irrigation water crisis. This activity was carried out in collaboration with the Bengawan Solo River Basin Authority as a form of synergy between academics and stakeholders in water resource management.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Safe and comfortable road pavement is a fundamental requirement, yet most designs rely on empirical methods that limit the ability to analyze detailed structural behavior. Specific Background: Analytical methods allow comprehensive evaluation of pavement layer strength, enabling faster and more precise calculations. Knowledge Gap: Limited studies have applied Bisar 3.0 guided by the Nottingham Design Method to calculate strain and service life in pavements using CTB (Concrete Treated Base) and Class B aggregate layers. Aim: This study applies the Bisar 3.0 program to determine road service life under fatigue cracking and permanent deformation criteria. Results: Calculations show analytical methods predict a longer service life (~±20 years) than empirical methods. Higher foundation stiffness and low average daily traffic reduce service life, and fatigue cracking criteria indicate a longer lifespan than permanent deformation. Novelty: Integration of Bisar 3.0 with Nottingham Design Method for precise service life estimation provides a detailed analytical approach rarely applied in road pavement studies. Implications: Findings support engineers in optimizing pavement design, selecting appropriate layer materials, and predicting long-term road performance more accurately. Highlights: Analytical design predicts longer road service life than empirical methods Fatigue cracking lifespan exceeds permanent deformation lifespan Bisar 3.0 enables rapid and precise calculation of pavement layer strains Keywords: Road Pavement, Analytical Method, Bisar 3.0, Nottingham Design Method, Service Life
